Can this please stop? We get it, MW2 comes out tomorrow, a lot of people are excited. I realize that no matter what I say there will be 1000 threads on this game tomorrow in NSG. But, really... this game isn't the END ALL BE ALL of games. It isn't even that in the FPS genre. Besides, it is just a game.
 
halo takes more skill but i find it incredibly boring and gay whereas cod is easier but i like how realistic it is

in all honesty good cod players are just the ones who know their way around the game best, not the ones who are the most skilled. cod is incredibly inconsistent, i can go like 8-12 and next game with same group go 33-5, it's not as much about skill

however, i still like cod way better than halo because it's actually fun. halo kids suck
 
It could be because NS is mostly Xbox360 players but there have been a couple games that have come out this year just a little while ago (ie Uncharted 2) that have just as good, if not slightly better stories, gameplay, and just entertainment value than MW2 but are not getting mentioned save for me and one or two others bringing them up.

I will be honest, I am excited to see this game, I would like to get it at some point. I am not jizzing my pants about it as and FPS can only do so much different than the 20 other ones that are out.
 
i'm definitely stoked for it, however im not going nuts. i play a good amount of cod4 and love it and i'm sure this'll be much better but it's still just a video game
 
Are we actually arguing over MW2 being a MLG game? Most of the people on this site play for fun and could give two shits if this game was MLG worthy. It is fun, bottom line. Who the fuck cares about pro-gaming?
 
Well, see.... my problem with it is that great games like Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age Origins, and Demon's Souls are getting completely ignored. Games with stories that are 3 or 4 times better just because every internet tough guy wants to shoot people with a FAMAS or Steyr AUG when yet most of them have no idea what make those guns so unique.
 
Dood you are acting like quite the fag. I only play video games online because I want the competition and can only play for an hour at a time max. If I want a story I watch a movie. If a game doesn't have online play it is not worth it.

Who the fuck cares what the real life stats of a gun are, are you serious? Ya bro I need to know the exact stats of a needler or else I can't appreciate what makes it unique in pwning noobs.

Ugh, you missed the point. I am saying people get a hard on from repetitive games like this cause "OMFG!!! ONLINE MULTIPLAYER WHERE I SHOOT PEOPLE!!!!" and are passing over on games with incredible single player stories and single player adventures.
 
There's a reason why MW 2 is breaking every retailers records for most pre-orders, and it sure isn't because every one has a 360.

This game will be groundbreaking, and yes quote me on that. It will the Goldeneye of this new generation.

And you're argument of single player campaigns is just stupid. CoD4 had an amazing story and MW2 is only going to get more in depth and immerse the plaer even more. Just because CoD doesn't use stupid theatrical cut scenes doesn't mean you don't have an amazing story. Half-Life proved that like 10 years ago.
 
Ugh, all I am saying is that for some reason, this game is just overshadowing every other awesome game that is coming out and has come out. It is just annoying me.

100% agreed. I couldn't give 2 shits about single player because its easy and boring as hell. If I want a good story I'll read a book or watch a movie.

I play video games because I'm competitive and enjoy a challenge. I haven't played a games whole single player since halo 1. This includes halo 2 and 3, cod4 and even gta (got really boring after a while). Multiplayer is just way more fun because its competitive and the players are real. Same reason why I love playing almost any sport.
 
Whatever... I guess I will just go back to playing my boring and un-epic copy of Uncharted 2 cause I suck at life.

not saying that its the same for everyone, but you can't just assume everyone enjoys single player as much as yourself. So if someone is more hyped for mw2 than uncharted 2 its no reason to get angry and tell everyone how much they're missing out on.
 
I am backing down cause there is no way I will win this fight on NS. On something like GameSpot I could do this all day and make the 7 year old start saying MW2 is the worst game he has played if you give me enough time.

And I am not "hating" on online play I am more so hating on the fact that if a game doesn't have insane multiplayer it gets no credit anymore.
 
Should I buy a game for $60 that I will play for hundreds of hours or spend that $60 on a game I'll play for 10? hmmmmm....

How do you play pro on console when they have aim assist? Also halo and CoD are both easy games, try playing some Counter Strike 1.6 or Counter Strike source. Then you will see what real skill is.

Almost every game now has multiplayer support of some kind (RPGs and AC2 are the only ones I can think of that don't) it is just how if the game doesn't have this online multiplayer system that almost had more time spent on it than the single player it doesn't get credit from the general public.
 
I've played both alot, halo you can unload a clip on someone and they still wont die, cod is realistic and harder. This girl i know NEVER plays video games and she played halo for fun once and got 20 kills, she wouldn't get one kill in a COD match. /argument

But they're not talking about playing a halo 3 match against some 12 year olds on live, they're talking about MLG, like kids that do nothing but play videogames, in that respect yeah I think it takes way more skill to be good at Halo 3. Anyone can be good at halo 3, but it's really fucking hard to be amazing at it, whereas in COD4 its realllll easy to get good, but there's just not as much skill due to the ridiculous amount of auto-aim and the weapons that can kill people in one shot, yeah it's more realistic, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's harder.
 
No way would someone that has never played halo get 20 kills unless you are playing to 100 with the shittiest kids in the world. Maybe you can unload a whole clip on someone but when I shoot at someone in Halo they die. COD is all about camping and seeing the other person first and knowing the maps. COD is still sick but I think everyone can agree that halo takes way more skill. /doughnuts

The current gen games are at that perfect time in the cycle. The engine has been perfected, the graphics are great, and now they obviously put A LOT of time into developing EVERY ASPECT of the gameplay.

The singleplayer has been designed with epicness in mind.

The spec-ops was implemented partially because a single-player campaign being played with multiple players makes no sense. This point shows IW's dedication to building the plot in SP.

The multiplayer looks INCREDIBLY SATISFYING. Do you assholes get that? It's something based with fun online play in mind, yet it can branch off into something more than fun on a private server to some extent.

And for all you people saying 'Mehhh!! Teh cee-oh-dee iz too E-Z fore competition' ... how about you look into clan servers ON THE COMPUTER!!! (the only place competitive FPS belongs)

Now lets get my thread back on track you fucking pricks.

I played halo for 2 years and it's a really sick game, hadn't played cod up until this summer. Halo is by far the best shooter franchise I've ever played, all the games have been really good despite getting worse and worse. The skill required is perfect for a console. Obviously with a controller you need auto aim to have anything decent so it's not as ridiculous as CS, but everyone uses the same thing so it's fair.

Halo takes a lot more skill than cod because in cod a lot of times the first person to fire wins. 90% of the time I die in cod because I never saw the guy. If someone gets your first you stand no chance. In halo you can fire first you can still easily lose a fight because the other player is much better than you. A good player can 4 or 5 shot with the battle rifle every time, while a noob might struggle with 8 or 10 shots, same goes for the sniper. Skill wise halo is leagues above cod. I would probably say cod requires more tactics and knowledge of the game however.

I would say halo is a lot of fun because it's a serious game that's consistent and has a pretty high skill cap. Cod is way more laid back and easier to master, which makes it a lot of fun to play. Halo gets really intense sometimes so it's fun to switch it up and play cod
 
That's exactly why i like COD better, halo you just run and try to shoot them in the chest/head region, COD takes some strategy and awareness to actually be able to perform. The fact that a couple shots to the chest from a gun kills someone is what makes it better to me.
 
that's why in cod I can go 8-16 one game where every time I get jumped and and then the very next game go 30-5. This happens every time I play, getting a lot of really good games and then some mediocre/bad games mixed in which gets annoying. Halo pretty much every game I get 2:1 with way less deviation on average.

cod's still fun as hell but halo will always be #1
 
thats why i'll second that, because like you stated that in cod you have to be aware of everything because of that fact you can die at any second...you have to constantly be looking behind you in search and destroy or you will get shot from behind...in halo you can get shot from behind jump turn grenade shoot before you die....but i don't debate it much my brother plays halo he is good at it i play cod and im good at that...to each their own.
 
well that is a lot different than skill. If you would have said you like to play COD because it is more fun I would have been on board. COD is way less "stressful". I have literally gotten to the point of breaking shit playing Halo, just fucking hot as hell.

If I am the only one of my friends online I play COD. If some of my friends are on its H3 all the way.

Really they are way different games. Halo is best as a 4 on 4 game. COD can have like 8 people on each team and still play pretty similar to a 4 on 4 game. COD is sick cant wait for it tomorrow. Fucking have to go to work all day but I will pwn at 5 count it.
 
so your complaining that you suck? play smarter in both games and you'll go 30-5 in both. the only person you can blame for continually getting jumped in the first game is yourself.
 
no, if you were good at cod you would understand what I'm saying. I've never met anybody who can consistently dominate all game. There's just games where nothing works and even though you aim right at their chest they don't die.
