The collapse of the united states of america

Well, it is becoming a reality that the US is headed for serious, serious trouble. Their addiction (ours too, canadians arent much better) to Oil is beginning to show its ugly face. We are at war for oil, plain and simple. We will be at war for the rest of out lives for Oil. Dick C. said so. I believe him. SUburbia is on the verge of collapse, about to become the ghettos of the future. Evolution is now selecting who can use MSN, cell phones, and who knows the most about Pop Culture when it comes to the new generation. Why can't the farmers be the desired ones. PAY FARMERS MORE. We're gonna need them.

maybe a have a bit of an apocalyptic vision, but im also a realist, and I can see it is a real possibility.

China bought All foreign American Debt.

Do you know what this means? This means that china, can now call in that debt anytime it wants, throwing the US into an economic nightmare. THe Numbers are in the trillions.

Theres no more clean water for you guys. Youre lucky the hydrology cycle is so resilient.

I guess canada will bail you out there.

We already sold you the rights to all our oil in the tarsands, i think it was about 15 yrs ago, for some ridiculous price.

so youve got that oil, but as you may know, 70% of the worlds oil is in the Persian Gulf.

Peak oil - its comin.

Heart disease is coming for YOU.

its the new american killer.

That should be enough material to spark some of you off.

I think pretty much everyone's just saying "I hope it doesn't happen in my lifetime".

PS: Canada's screwed too.

the worlds addicted to OIL buddy not just N America. and we (us) has the technology for a green revolution except our boy bush doesnt want govt subsidies paying for them cuz then he wont get cash flow. when the world figures out that the only way to save our mother earth is by getting back in tune with nature and stop fuckin it over, then we'll have a good couple a ski seasons.

i love my country but i hate those who run it

oh and fuck china, if they asked for a number that was way too much- we'd tell them to shove it and pay them at our own pleasure. cuz thats what americans do boyee

my thoughts exactly.

i believe your whole rant man im with you. and to spice up the whole issue a little more, thats only like 2% of the worlds issues right now. the mayans were right about the world coming to an end around 2012. it might not happen in 2012 but it is bound to happen in the near future. ive heard the date 2045 for apocalypse aswell

actually america only gets about 9% of its total gross oil from the middle east. but otherwise good points. we in america need to improve our health habits and develop new ways to power things. my generation is more interested in what some dumb skank wears to a hollywood event than getting a job and becoming a working member of society. i for one, am ashamed. not of america, because i love my country. i am ashamed of my generation and the people in it.

The thing that I don't get is that we have all the technology we need to end our dependance on oil. we have technology on the shelves to get 100 mpg cars. if Americans would just wise up and realize that hummers are completely rediculus, we would be better off

The US is far more fucked than Canada, but we're still not doing so hot. The technological innovations will come, and we will eventually rely less on Oil, but not any time soon. The real problem is we need a full scale societal change.

Maybe so, maybe not.

Yeah, the unfortunate part is it will happen in our lifetimes, granted nothing goes wrong,

cause its coming super soon, within the decade.

There isnt the resources for a green revolution either, all the green technologies are still a fantasy. We have lots of ideas, and maybe we will get serious about it and conjure a few miracles, but yo, its gonna get messy

Canada will only be fucked in its major urban centers. We have a pretty good stockpile here, Quebec for hydro, A small population to support, Many green initiatives that will just take off.

Saying we lose electricity, I think I'll be ok, I have my battle plans laid out. Im getting a gun, some C-4, raiding MEC, and booking it to my treehouse village. hopefully its up and running by then.

And when whoever comes to invade, we should build a wall of nukes (or CANDU reactors) around our strongholds, and blast the fuckers. I dont know, maybe build some avalanche traps over the mountain passes, and set them off whenever they come. Im kinda excited.

WAR!

My ideal vision of a utopia doesnt include easing pain and sufferring, thats a part of being human, and we will create it any way we have to.

we need it just as much as we need sex, drugs and rock n roll.

the problem is, we're going to keep denying that there is a problem until the bottom drops out, and then we'll be in a huge scramble to try and find a solution.

i dont care at all. if there is another great depression here, there still will be people. people are cool. like girls. i can have fun with a soccer ball, not just an Xbox 360. eventaully playing outside will leave us to become an amazingly physically fit nation for once and we can fight all other rich nations with our bare hands after we swim acrossed the oceans. that will be survial of the fittest.

you see how easy it is to make riduclous claims about the future? its been going on for way to long. remeber when armageddon and deep impact came out? that was all i heard "were dead in 2000" and all that jazz. well im still alive. things work out. life finds a way. kinda what dr. malcolm was talking about in jurassic park. just stop worrying and wasting your time. if you really want to worry about this, i think you have problems. chill out.

9% seriously?

where does the 91% come from then?

And wherever those numbers are from, you can be sure the books are cooked.

I know it's only 2% of the worlds problems. but you gotta pick you battles y'know?

i could talk about deforestation, cash crops, eugenics, genetically modified foor supplies, the media, etc etc

it seems it never ends

hey man i agree with your points and the US is getting pretty fucked up but i don't think we're on the brink of a collapse. There's tons of smart people in the government who I hope still have some idea of what's going on. we do need to definetly start a major change in our lifestyle but I'm an optimist, i can't really see a total collapse

yeah, you have a point sort of

you cant use the arguement "just cause the world hasnt exploded yet, means it never will"

i know people who truly think like that. for example:

Buddy turns on the light, and poof, it goes out, he's like "what? that light worked for soo long, thats fucked. It was working yesterday"

yeah, like in the animatrix when that black sprinter is talking to his dad and he says, "You'll go on, just like you've always done"

we will go one, but not without a whole bunch of "kill your neighbour before he kills you" episodes (replace kill with any other word you want)

2012, I've heard great things

Me and some friends are supposed to meet at Macchu Picchu for 2012. see what goes down

But then they were thinking K2, cause its on the middle of a contential plate.

true enough. it also doesn't help that not only are we not encouraged to change, we are discouraged. it's not profitable for corporations to sell us better products when they are making so much goddamn money right now, so why would they? and they are going to keep telling us that what they sell is the right thing as well. unfortunately we're all a bunch of fucking idiots and we just go along with them. man i hate people. lol

I seriously doubt government as an entity will collapse in the event of a massive economic crisis. Standard of living will drop tremendously, and some people may favour its abandonment (anarchy seems to become popular when that happens). But when you're desperate, and so is everyone else... that's exactly when you NEED protection. Just like Hobbes says. When life becomes nasty, brutish and short, man turns to leviathan, gives up some freedoms in exchange for protection.

Theres no more clean water for you guys. Youre lucky the hydrology cycle is so resilient.

I was wondering what happened to the great lakes.

the thing that really makes me mad is that people refuse to do anything by themselves. people don't realize that saving the environment also means saving money.

carpooling saves money on gas, new light bulbs saves money on electricity, people are rediculus. there are so many little things people could do to help the problem, but they refuse

i wasnt.

its like people worrying over a test grade. just dont. it wont help anything. live for everyday. im more worried about getting in a car wreck or something than the world ending. i dont even worry about the world ending. lifes too short to stress over things you cant control. concentrate on what you can control, on the things that bring you happiness and make life worth it. girls, music, drugs, whatever. it works.

what about the people that come after you? I don't see how people can be so blind that we're streching our planet to the breaking point.

and it IS something you have control over.

c'mon alternative fuel sources!

it's only a matter of time before the crisis becomes unbearable and people finally realize what the fuck is up. myself included.

Corn uses more petroleum products to produce than it renders. Its a lie.

a foolish one at that.

yes the bottom will drop out. ill be wearing a chute

Im not stressing im just talking about it.

youre right.

exactly im not going to lie thats what im thinking to myself...but its becoming more and more aparent to me that the US is in dire need for some help. We are in debt trillions of dollars and we have no way to pay it back. Also going along with the China thing, they baught billions, maybe trillions of dollars in US bonds. Therefore in esscence they own the United States of America. Im learing all of this in my US History class currently and i have a thread similar to this one talking about the role of the united states in this world. which is again possibly going to cause the collapse of the US.

no, buy a fuel efficent car, buy more efficent light bulbs, invest in alternative energy, recycle, ANYTHING.

yeah i know what you are saying, but my original post wasnt really about the struggle to purify mother earth. its about not getting tweaked out over this stuff.

yeah i recycle, but i drive a jeep. balances well.

do you drive a prius or whatnot?

word....

wash your clothes with cold water, make compost(sp?) even if you want it...watch what you're throwing to the garbage...recycle the most you can, dont put computers, batteries, etc in the garbages:ppl recycle them

there are so many things you can do....yet everyone thinks..."well even if i do it, it wont change anything"

YOU ARE FUCKING WRONG damn...: youll have a better lifestyle, you may influence other people who might do as you and the chain could go on...

no, I ride a bike, or ride a bus.

and one of my biggest problems is that people DON'T get tweaked over this. people need to stop ignoring this problem, and do something about it

I dont think they will collapse either.

I never said there would be a total collapse.

its just about Killing your neighbour.

thats what we're looking at.

Its nice to see the different mindsets about it, and it seems like something everyone generally agrees on.

And the car that runs off water

is hydrogen powered.

It needs a huge tank of hyrdogen.

I dont know about you, But theres no WAY IN HELL Im going to drive 100 km/hr on a giant tank of extremely volatile hydrogen.

and not to mention it takes more energy to produce hydrogen than you get from it. you need electricity to make it, and you need a power source to get electricity.

i was about to say that. all this bullshit about ethanol as an alternative fuel is just marketing. http://healthandenergy.com/ethanol.htm will explain everything wrong about ethonol fuel. we aren't solving the problem, we are just switching from one problem to another.

if you want to conserve, ride a bike or the bus. a hydrogen fuel cell is really the only solution to all the pollution.

All things considered I would say oil really isn't that large of a problem. You think we are actually trying that hard in the Middle East anyway? Most of these comments against our country and the way we act are complete bullshit anyway. Our country EMBRACES gays, lesbos and drinking, and smoking. If you think the war over oil (that is really a VERY small part) is bad, imagine if that war killed 400,000 americans a year. Like TOBACCO. The Oil is not even that big, its just something to keep to lame sses busy, because there is nothing better to see on the news and you can't live your own life. I am still waiting for a shit load of Marines to come back and say its bullshit and about the oil. But wow, a ton re enlist and go BACK and think they are actually making a differenc3e in the world. Unlike YOU.

its true people need to start looking at bigger issues. People spend so much worthless time and money on the things, go give the money to some kid who needs food not People magzine. Americans also need to get off their fat asses and do somethig, be active. Its said to see someone not being able to do something just beacuse thet overweight.

thats why sometimes i'm glad to be half french and half american...so if shit happens, i can just go to France and be like "fuck, i knew zis would happen to americans."

When is the world going to realize that once all the good soil is paved over for suburbia that we cant eat money?

In ontario, the best soil is under toronto and the golden horseshoe, yet it is all city ontop of it. Sweet eh? And they are still buying up and building over fields...even better!

i'm getting tired of hearing people predict the end of the world and the deterioration of the US.

and if we lose oil? it will happen eventually, but scientists have also said that oil was supposed to be all gone back in the 70s, the possibility of oil being gone in our lifetime is slim, and when it does happen, technology will be available to make oil obsolete.

and if there's no technology to replace oil? grow a pair, ride a bike, and kill your own meals.

what scientist said oil was supposed to be gone in the 70's?

The leading geoligist in the world in the 50's predicted Oil production in the United States would PEAK in the 70's, and you know what? in 1970 the united states produced more oil than they ever have.

what info are you going off of?

you sure you dont have blinders on?

Dont think you have any right to talk about ME.

you dont know shit about ME.

and if you want to make a thread about all the warm fuzzy things the US does, by all means.
