The collapse of the united states of america

“In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the

learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”

this is why i'm pissed to be 15 and actually have thoughts about moving to canada.. i mean, i love america, but every other country doesnt. aka, we're fucked.

we're not all idiots

oil in the oceans?

in alaska, but thats mad bad for the environment..

I like that quote anti-bunk.

it probably will happen in our lifetime. As oil price increses, it will become more and more expensive to grow food, especially in poorer places. the population of the world relies on food that is grown using fossil fuels. if it wasnt for those fossile fuels we would not be able to suppoer the population of the world with food. plain and simple.

pretty much the whole world is screwed, but we are screwed less, because we have all the money for the food. Its pretty fucked up, but we already literally take food from forign countries. they pay the government to take away the land from the local farmers, then we use that local farm land, change the crop to something less usefull for the local people, and use all the crop as exporting to the US. Thus, in that local country, making the food there is more expensive, and on top of that diminishing al lot of the food there period.

If the U.S. is fucked the whole world is fucked. There is no way the global economy could stay intact if the U.S. suddenly plunged into economic turmoil.

The whole argument of China buying all of our debt is just retarded. If China decided to call in all that debt all at once it would greatly cripple the U.S. economy. Now what good could that possibly do China. Do you know why CHina has become such a powerful country? Because there are billions(prbably trillions of American dollars invested in China. If China were to do this they would be ruin their own economy in the process.

fuck this china calling in our debt. thats bs. we have spent billions and billions of dollars helping out countries and spending this money. no, not all our debt comes from that, but a large chunk does. who the fuck are they to say we owe. the world would not be the same if the US hadn't stepped up and helped countries in need. so i say fuck the national debt. we need to, as people in a global sense, focus on preserving the earth that we are so ignorantly destroying.

i will say that at this time, a hydrogen based economy is fantasy because the energy needed to generate the hydrogen comes from fossil fuels. so fuck that for now, it may be available later but now its just a theory.

i think solar energy is a good option, but then again, it takes energy to create the pannels as well.

there's wind energy thats a possibility, i also read an article about using the motion of the ocean to generate power using basically faradays law. these are all alternatives that we need to explore.

we can't just ride off these technologies as fantasy because if we look back in time, we never would have thought half the things we do now were possible. its essential for mankind to do something to change the fucking direction our earth is headed. global warming is not just a theory anymore! we as a people are having an adverse effect on the environment we live in, we have to realize this and pool our global resources to do something about it.

people are to self absorbed to consider the fact that people are going to live here long after we are gone. we can't be selfish and do nothing and say, well fuck it, its there problem. they will be our decendents, family, can't we understand this.

also, i'd like to agree that our country has absorbed pop culture and petty shit. its rediculous when you see tv shows like "my super sweet 16". what is this shit. spoiled little bitches that i would strangle if i ever met them. our world is going to shit and a lot of it is due to the rediculousness of tv.

saying that we're all fucked, just live is just being naive. take a role in helping our planet. forget about yourself for a second and the money obsessed culture we are surrounded by and do something to help. just one little thing every day would help enourmously in the scope. i just don't see how someone could overlook this. please contribute with the little things.

Okey so basically at our current consumption amounts we are all fucked, you can't just say US/ Canada is fucked, basically anyone living our lifestyle is fucked. We waste soo much stuff and we just can't sustain our current culture. We are dipping into great energy reserves and soon we will reach peak oil and the prices will just become to unbeardable to support our current energy demands. This means the end of world trade, and mass productions basically eveyrhting unless we find an alternative efficeint viable energy source..... seriously, if you want to help out just try not being as wasteful, but buy things you don't need. We should really find new food packaging things too.....so that its not all thrown out. anyways IF ANYONE would liek some more info on this topic visit http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ KAAY seriously the world as we know it is going to collapse...maybe not entirely in our lifetime but we wil see huge changes take place.

but this also means, that food will go way up in $$$ and the only ones who will be able to afford it are people who consum, have and spend alot of money.

China owns the US right now...so Yes they will be next.

Superpowers fall all the time people. Its not like rome or the Mongols are still ruleing the world today. This is a fact of human existance; the US is just another notch on the wall of global superpowers

no shortage of oil, we just can't refine it at the same rate of demand. get that straight.

second, forget oil, war will be fought over fresh water in the future. canada owns the majority of it.

watch over the next five years as the price of fuel in NA rises to match the fuel cost in Europe and other places. You will be able to buy a hummer or suburban for nothing when fuel prices are 5,6,7 bucks a litre. At a buck a litre nobody cares. I still drive a big car, shoot me. Im not spending 25000 to buy a little gas efficient car. and im def not spending another 5000 on top of that to get a hybrid. When the price of gas becomes unbearable for the general public then there will be a massive shift to green energy. At this point do enough people care. no. it may not be right, but its the truth.

and to the post above about if china calls the us on its debts and the usa refuses to pay. thats the next world war.

Umm you ought to read the rest of the thread before posting. I aready went over this. China owns the U.S.'s debt. If they were to tell the U.S. to pay up as you are implying the U.S. economy would suffer greatly. Well unfortunately for if they did this they'd be simultaniously ruining their own economy in the process. There are billions probably trillions of U.S. dollars investet in China right now. If the U.S. economy fails so does China's. So no China doesn't own the U.S. not by a long shot.

dude, you seem to think you know whats going on, and what is going to happen.

I for one think you are wrong. China does not need the US. China doesnt give a shit about canada.

They can take care of themselves, and they want to.

There will be war within our lifetime

We have to scale down everything we do.

no you are wrong. Very little USD (comparitively) is invested in the PRC. Plus, they are such a massive country that they have the resources and the manpower to pretty much survive autonomously if the rest of the world goes to shit.

Yes, China DOES own the US. They can play the loan shark role at any point they wish.

we all agree that china will be the next super power... those who think that the U.S. are forever powerfull either don't have any education at all, or you smoked too much crack and can't remember any of it.

the likely chain of events is a 'depression' spreading out from NA, an unpredictable amount of people will die (maybe a few million, who knows), from that war will bring certain countries out of poverty, others will either remain 3rd world, or become new 3rd world.

it has happened since the begining of man.

that is not the issue that I am concerned about. what I am concerned about is human extinction - but luckly (for you and me) I do not think this will happen for at least a centery if not longer.

melting ice caps, rising sea levels, atmospheric changes, desertification, stronger weather systems, shiftying plates, combined with our gread to take from the earth (do we actually know what we're doing when we take large (and I mean large) quantities of substances from underground?) The magnetic field is (slowly) changing, it has been doing so forever, but what if we fuck things up... fuck, for all we know we could completely change the magnetic make up and tilt of our planet, doing more damage than any of our climate change computer models could ever predict.

Nothing lasts forever, so why should we? just because we can think doesn't mean we are better then the universe (which I believe will one day die itself). it's inevitable - thinking other wise is just mad.

i think this is just an oil "scare" so to speak... lookback to the 70's whne people were saying the smae things and gas prices went banana's.. then cmae back down, liek i don't think oil is gonna get erased from the earth, yes we use alot of it and shud start looking into new power inovations But i think the oil prices will slowly drop back down to what they used to be.

As a candian i think it is fucking stupid how Canada (the ones will oil reserves etc.) sells our raw oil to the u.s thne buys it back from them in gasoline>? How does this make any sense, the world is stupid, theypeople who run north america are stupid... and basically shud all be stabbed.

do you understand what oil is? it takes a very long time for oil to become what it is. and once the large reserves are pumped dry we will have to go after the hard to get oil... you think gas prices are high now, just wait.

The sky is falling! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!

Look, there are some problems to be wary of, but I don't think we need to start marking our calendars for the collapse of the West.

I'll post about you if I want. And I'll post about the good things the US does whereever I want as well. Obviously to have this opinion you must beleive in what you say, no? So actually juding by most your threads and your average demeanor I can make a decent judgement of what you are like, like you probably can of me as well. So yeah I think you opinion sucks ass.

So you are saying if the tomorrow all U.S, investments in China were pulled out China would be just fine. I don't think so. Think of all the American corporations that have production facitilites in China not to mention the capital invested in China in other companies. If that Money was gone China would be shit out of luck. This isn't just my opinion I watched a news report on it the other night and the guys were saying excatly what I'm saying. They were finacial analysts who I'm sure know what they are tlaking about. China doesn't own the U.S. The U.S. still has greatest economy in the world. Also what Is CHina going to do if the U.S. refused to pay that debt? Absolutely nothing that's right. The purchasing of the U.S. debt by China is more symbolic than anything.

Say the US got into a bad situation with not having enough resources or electricity or anything like that.. think about how many countries would try to take advantadge of us

However, with China's fixed currency policy, all it would take is one serious turbulent event (say like the economic collapse of the wealthiest nation on the planet) that could destabilize their entire monetary system. The only reason it hasn't happened already is because they have been growing exponentially. The Chinese are walking on a thin line and have just as much at stake as the United States. I love when people talk about this stuff, they only see the risk posed to the US. It's not remotely as simple as "China has us by the balls."

^YES finally some one else who gets it. We are part of a global economy and if one of the biggest pieces of that econmoy were to fall apart everything else would go along with it.

I think its mostly, you stay out of our hair, and we will stay out of yours for the most part w/ China. Neither really wanna fight each other because they know it would be devistating for both sides.

Well, not actually fight each other. More like beat each other in economics. Capitalism at it's core.

lol, no, actually.

I dont even think I have posted my opinions in this thread, just compiled a few facts

I know enough to know I dont know enough to make a perfect opinion, and if its not perfect, ill wait until it is to adopt it into my opinion.

Im reading all your posts guys, im quite impressed, only 1 or 2 "you guys are all stupid, blah blah " posts.

And by the way to the guy who said this is his last post in a political thread, You cant be better or smarter than us by telling us we're all idiots, youre better than us, and you're right by not saying anything.

you have to earn being better than someone else by ballting it out mentally. a battle of wits if you will.

lol I will when I want, I just don't feel like it anymoree, go back like in the history I don't feel like proving the same things over and over again.

How can you not take an intrest in this. It effects you whether you like it or not. One day, when you grow up, you'll need to get a job and stuff like that. If the courtt has gone down the shitter by then it's going to be awhole lot more difficult to make your way in the world.

yeah were informed but wat the hell kind of an impact are a bunch a skiers gonna do? im not trying to diss anyone or start shit, im just saying we have little to no power at the moment

this thread took so many twists and turns. some pushed it into a more environmental POV and others strictly on government.

at least theres finally an intelligent thread.

so after reading all since i last posted, i just thought it incumbent to remind all of you that even if we think we "figured it out" and understand it all, we dont. the government isnt as stupid as green day makes it out to be. there are people that spend their lives contemplating what you are now. college professors, those in service of the president...well our country has the best analysts working for it. if there is a way out and around it, we will find it. people are waking up in the morning and thinking about this because its their job. no matter how much BS we think this is and how screwed we are, if we at a stage of econimic apoclypse, it was probably inevitable and wasnt bush's fault. this stuff has developed for decades and always seems to be at a head.

so to throw back to my old posts, worrying about this is futile. things will happen as they do. 1st world becomming 3rd isnt going to happen. the loss of US as a spending power would criple the world, not just us.

go outside and see a movie with your friends. dont worry about this. i feel like a damn MIB agent with a flashy thing, but seriously there are better things to do wiht you life. refer back to my older posts in this.

yeah i agree but skiers or not, were the minority here. were overuled by the rich politicians who dont give a flying fuck wat we or anyone else thinks

Point is lost on you.

I don't know about yourself, but I don't plan on being a full time ski bum all my life. I plan on having a career and being an active member of society.

No you don't. Your second post doesn't tell me anything. The "minority" you speak of is not really a minority to begin with. We are the people that are going to inherit this world and all of the problems in it. It is imperative that we have an understanding of the world we live in, or else we are surrounded by ignorance and chaos. Just shrugging off something and assuming the "rich politicians" are going to babysit you is ridiculous. I'd rather not submit myself to that level.

did you say that we (skiers) are the minority? isn't skiing a sport full of rich white men and their snow bunny wives?

remember FREEZE? - yea, think about why it's not around anymore.
