The Cabin in the Woods - A Must-See Film

If you like movies, just movies overall, you have to see this. If you like horror movies, you must see this right now.

If you LOVE horror movies, what are you waiting for!?

Seriously, best meta-movie ever made, I can't honestly explain a single thing about it without really spoiling it, but if you are intrigued, go watch it, download it... whatever, don't even watch the trailer. It's like 40 M. Night Shyamalan films condensed into one, with the right amount of humor, seriousness and self-concsiousness all the way through -twist after twiat after twist, all on purpose.

The basic plot is five teens go spend a weekend at a summer cabin at a lakeside, and things go horribly wrong...

That's all you need to know about the clichés, now go and watch it and tell me what you think! If you already have, same thing, but try to keep all spoilers out of this thread.

I will download it this weekend then! Haha you have given great movie tips before, I have faith in your taste

Pretty excited for when this comes out on tbp

Feel like horror movies get a bad rep because there's so many shitty ones out there

Also this currently has an imdb of 8.0 which is pretty ridiculously high for a recent horror movie, haven't looked at any thing else but yea still stoked

But you're obviously entitled to your own opinion. Its just not the type of movie a true horror fan is looking for.

There's a lot more to it but who wants to spoil it?

I thought it was good. Better than most run of the mill horror movies I've seen.

very excited to see this movie, but this thread makes it clear that a lot of people are going to see it expecting a horror movie, not a meta-horror movie, and they're going to think it's bad.

I just think it's weird as to myself, who I think of as a true horror fan, absolutely loved it for everything it stands for. It's kind of like Scream for a new generation withholding both the new and old, that's the best I can come up with right now, but I just thought it worked.

Maybe a bad comparison, but like I said, think twist-twist-cliché-twist in an unforgettable combo, and there's your movie of the fucking year.

YES! cant vouch for the movie but the trailer makes it look pretty dumb. Kinda like a mixture of scooby doo, the most recent predator and friday the 13th.

my thread is way better than this one (and most of yours actually)

Cabin in the Woods looks awful!

check it out everyone: https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/670164/

and why do you keep bringing my thread up anyways?

I just keep bringing it up to you and others, and to think that the quality of a "better" thread really matters to you is pretty sad. So much that you had to actually link to it... just so sad, nearly holding my sides here.

i dont reallty see your point here. are you saying that "better" is not applicable to threads? that we should not value quality of threads? if that is not what youre saying then plz explain it more clearly.

and also (srry) what do you mean you just keep bringing it up to me and others. plz clarify.

sorry i cant bring a better response but your post was kindof confusing, pm me if you prefer.

and how do you like all my extra spaces? ;)

i don't get it, the movies had zombies and stuff in it and computers and stuff, like how did it have zombies and hell raiser and a giant snap and stuff?

I haven't seen it, but when I saw the previews and it showed them slowly approaching a trap door to the basement, I was like "YO! THEY STOLE THAT SHIT FROM EVIL DEAD SON"

Yes, Evil Dead is the only horror movie to ever have people go into a basement through a trap door before this.

Not exactly what I said. Compare one to the other. The bumping noise made by the door, the group glaring directly at it, slowly advancing towards it. All the while note the way the camera captures the moment, it's incredibly similiar overall even when compared to other movies that utilize that sort of scene.

Look beyond the concept and examine the smaller details bud
