TGR Shoot at Stevens Pass

Dude, no hate intended toward you personally, but I wouldn't be patting yourself on the back too hard for your jump building efforts. The jump that you helped build broke 2 guys. I am truly sorry for your sore muscles, but I think those guys are feeling a bit worse. Considering that probably less than 10 guys actually hit that thing, your average ain't that good.

The question I have for you is, did you hit the jump that Riley and Tanner overshot? Personally, if I build it, I guinea it. That's the rule. I am not going to build anything that I wouldn't feel comfortable hitting. I have not built a channel gap like the one at SP, but I have built 80 foot tables. When you build a jump, you are responsible for the guys that go off it. If you don't have the sack to hit the fucker yourself, you have no business building it.

I don't really understand the Rage vs. TGR politics, but I do know that 2 guys got hurt on a slightly modified version of the same jump, if the official release is accurate. I've seen photos of the jump, and it was messed up. Sorry to harsh on you personally, but I haven't seen anyone taking responsibility for this MOAFU's.

Yeah I'd have to admit that was the stupidest looking jump I've ever seen. Massive lip. Intimidating channel. 30 foot gap? Jumps like that are usually 60-100 feet. I don't understand why Tanner would even have hit the damn thing, it was clearly fucked up.

this is just one of many comments that prove some of you don't know what you're talking about. Do you really believe patrol destroys their extra dynamite?!?!?! and it's not dynamite.....

If you weren't there you don't know what happened. Please stop blaming...

Play nice in the sand box

both hit the jump two days before. both threw back flips on it said it was a fun jump. this was a totally new jump for TGR and rage didnt even see it.

this is Bull shit! People take responsibility for YOUR SELVES!

those guys are PRO RIDERS -- too much speed = too much distance

not enough speed = not enough distance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1un1YuIhC0

I know what :

we can ( who is we?) establish the correct speed for that paticular jump, in that paticular snow condition, in that paticular weather condition, with those paticular skis, and set up a radar sign that says your speed is 43 MPH Slow Down!

If you feel that people that buiild jumps are responsible for the guys that go off it there will be NO MORE TERRAIN PARKS!!

So I'm going to have to say alias idiot. Clearly you don't know what the fuck you're talking about or you're too chicken shit to share your opinion from your normal profile. Whatever the excuse, I'll make it easy for you to understand.

If the grounds crew at Wrigley left a 2 foot diameter Gofer hole in the outfield and a Major League Fielder snapped his leg in half while chasing a fly ball; the grounds keeper is going to be held accountable. You can't say "well, he was a pro and should have been expecting Gofer holes in the outfield".

Sorry, but skiing is a business and you can't keep the lawyers out of it. Snoqualmie lost they're liability suit because they couldn't explain their methods. They sad "our jump was safe" . The lawyers said " How did you determine that your jump was safe"? The guys at SQ couldn't convince the judge and jury that they had some way to determine whether the jump was safe or not. Like it or not that's part of the business now. That's when builders started to look at the angles and determined that the takeoff should be about the same angle of incline/decline. Also most builders started laying down a bamboo pole from the top of the jump straight back to the tranny. If they could fit their fist between the bottom of the pole and the snow, then it was too lippy and they recatted.

So if you actually do hit terrain park jumps, they were probably created by using this method and you probably had no frickin idea. The only way we are going to keep lawyers and insurance companies from getting rid of terrain parks is by knowing what we're doing and following a plan; instead of just pushing up big mounds of snow for people to launch off of.

If I build a jump and someone gets hurt on it, I take it personally. ^^^Spriggs^^^, author of the above quote "shut yo mouf ...bitch^^^" is a pro. He goes big, takes chances and sometimes he gets hurt. That doesn't mean that I should go out and build some stupid high risk jump, light his ass on fire and push him down the hill. If I build a jump for him, and he pancakes on it, that's on me. I didn't do a good job.

Yeah the sport has risk, but that doesn't mean that it's OK to add to the risk by building stupid shit. If you set up a jib line in your back yard and your PVC breaks, you go get some stitches and call it good. When you drop into a parking lot from 50 feet, the outcome usually isn't the same. Skiers even pros are going to overshoot, but you can build jumps that make it harder for them to do that. If you don't believe me, find me an example of someone who cleared the landing hill at JOSS or JOI this year.

This was probably just a waste of time anyway. Jomama203 is probably another one of those 15 different alias tools. Hopefully someone will get something out of it. +++Kar John.

i think you're overreacting and a little confused, this is NOT the jump that was built for rage. the jump had been hit safely earlier in the week, then lots of snow happened in typical PNW fashion and it was reshaped into the current thing. yes this was not the best built jump, i agree, the other jump was far better (look at the pictures). i grew up skiing stevens and can say comfortably that their public jumps were built safe and fun. one thing also not accounted for, is that with private shoots, especially with big companies, the companies do get a say in what is built, and sometimes even have specific requests in features...that being said, i have no idea what the details were on this specific jump. just thought i'd throw these things out into the mix.

You're right. I got too preachy on this. My bad. The point is that big ski areas still build jumps that are guaranteed to hurt people. It happened at Vail this year. If you hit one of these things you'll know it and you'll be lucky if you aren't done for the season. It doesn't matter whether you're a pro or an ave joe.

You make a lot of really good points in your posts, and your response pretty much represents the most rational reaction to what happened to Tanner and Wiley.

thats pretty dope. TGR and Stevens are going all out.

I am gonna guess that TGR has the best spring park shoot segment in next years films.

really? i've never seen a bird for stevens. ive seen the raven for baker, the skull for snoqualmie, but not something for stevens...though i am a fan of the star wars stickers.

I hope these beasts are still there at Stevens. Might have to take a little trip up there over Memorial Day Weekend and take a looksy.

that is exactly how i feel. ?I love Rage, they are my favorite filmers but it sucks that they did not get to use their jump. I don't blame TGR for using the jump, but they should credit Rage for building it.

bottom line is that Stevens buildt the jump. sure rage gave some specifics but when it boils down to who paid for it and did all the work it was stevens

ohhh now your fucked derrick.

remember when snoqualmie accomplished their goal of crippling someone on their 37-to-flat? :http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003655847_skijumpaward07m.html

but, hey, i'm sure they are really really good at putting rails in snow as they advertise right? and thats hard for them. Grats on that.
