So I'm going to have to say alias idiot. Clearly you don't know what the fuck you're talking about or you're too chicken shit to share your opinion from your normal profile. Whatever the excuse, I'll make it easy for you to understand.
If the grounds crew at Wrigley left a 2 foot diameter Gofer hole in the outfield and a Major League Fielder snapped his leg in half while chasing a fly ball; the grounds keeper is going to be held accountable. You can't say "well, he was a pro and should have been expecting Gofer holes in the outfield".
Sorry, but skiing is a business and you can't keep the lawyers out of it. Snoqualmie lost they're liability suit because they couldn't explain their methods. They sad "our jump was safe" . The lawyers said " How did you determine that your jump was safe"? The guys at SQ couldn't convince the judge and jury that they had some way to determine whether the jump was safe or not. Like it or not that's part of the business now. That's when builders started to look at the angles and determined that the takeoff should be about the same angle of incline/decline. Also most builders started laying down a bamboo pole from the top of the jump straight back to the tranny. If they could fit their fist between the bottom of the pole and the snow, then it was too lippy and they recatted.
So if you actually do hit terrain park jumps, they were probably created by using this method and you probably had no frickin idea. The only way we are going to keep lawyers and insurance companies from getting rid of terrain parks is by knowing what we're doing and following a plan; instead of just pushing up big mounds of snow for people to launch off of.
If I build a jump and someone gets hurt on it, I take it personally. ^^^Spriggs^^^, author of the above quote "shut yo mouf ...bitch^^^" is a pro. He goes big, takes chances and sometimes he gets hurt. That doesn't mean that I should go out and build some stupid high risk jump, light his ass on fire and push him down the hill. If I build a jump for him, and he pancakes on it, that's on me. I didn't do a good job.
Yeah the sport has risk, but that doesn't mean that it's OK to add to the risk by building stupid shit. If you set up a jib line in your back yard and your PVC breaks, you go get some stitches and call it good. When you drop into a parking lot from 50 feet, the outcome usually isn't the same. Skiers even pros are going to overshoot, but you can build jumps that make it harder for them to do that. If you don't believe me, find me an example of someone who cleared the landing hill at JOSS or JOI this year.
This was probably just a waste of time anyway. Jomama203 is probably another one of those 15 different alias tools. Hopefully someone will get something out of it. +++Kar John.
