Im sure most of you have heard about the World Trade Center and Pentagon bombings. all i have to say is that arabs are sick and that we shouldnt let many, if not any into the united states ever again.

It's wrong to blame all Arabs for the terrorist actions of one group. Several Arab leaders and countries decry terrorist activity. IIRC, the Taliban is not accepted by other Islamic states. Also, the US and Turkey have good relations. Egypt has voiced willingness to put pressure on Arafat to stop terrorist attacks in Israel. In light of this, you shouldn't have said what you did. Suppose I say that all whites are racist SOBs because of what they did to my ancestors?

My school pretty much shutdown today. There was pretty much t.v's everywhere, all tuned to the news casts. This is insane.

Such a tragedy...its hard to think such a horrible thing could happen. They went from a shot of the world trade center being hit to a scene of people celebrating...that is sick... absolutely disgusting.

I can't even imagine what powell/bush/cheney will whip up for this one. It's terrible this had to happen. I'd be a lot happier if neither the action or reaction happened/happens. Way too many civilians are going to get killed for those dumbfucks that hijacked the airplanes.

I am at a loss for words. This is quite possibly the most agrivated assault launched against innocent lives the world has ever seen. Just disgusting.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those that have been affected by this great tragedy in some way.

my best friends brother flew into NY like 5 minutes before shit hit the fan. me and this other kid who are all super good friends sat there for an hour and thought he was dead. it sucked so bad but then thank god he called his mom and she called us at school and hes alright

i'm pissed off at my school. They didn't say a word to us today. Only one teacher talked to us about it, cuz he overheard us talking about it at lunch...other than that all the teachers just acted like nothing happens.

I live in the northeast.. the pilot of flight 11 (hit trade center) is from about 3 towns over, my vets husband was on the one that crashed in pensylvania, and a person at my mom's school has a sister that was stewerdess on flight 11... all dead... this is only the begining... I am guessing I know 10-15 people who died in this.

this hate and racism is exatly what breeds the violence... we need to realize that we have been igoring the deaths of millions of innocents in the middle-east for so many years... yesterday the israelis bomb a fucking elementary school but im sure no one heard about that... we need to stop hating everyone... for christs sake my best friends dad died today, my mom was in a builiding in the world trade complex, not the towers but one fo the buildings, and was trapped for nearly an hour... she saw a street littered with dead bodies and saw ppl hurling themselves out windows... and everyone needs to realize the HUGE implications of this... One we are going to war and if this was state sponsored terrorism get ready for ww3... and all of us on here who are right around teh age of 18 keep this in mind... if we go to a large scale war we may all be drafted... and knowing bush this is definitely a possibility... the hate needs to stop... in milwaukee muslims have been threatened with death and actually physically hurt today because of this tradegdy... RIP

I think WJB speaks for all of us... and I agree with him about what he says. as for ww3, it depends on how bush decides to deal with it, but I have a feeling this could be the start of a long journey... I pray taht no one else dies from this though.

my mom just told me that she was about to head over to the trade towers when the first plane hit but her friend called her so she got delayed otherwise she wouldve been oon the 40th floor... i cant believe this... what the fuck is wrong with the world? At least we now have something to motivate us to change society like pearl harbor and kennedy assasination

ok well the problem with lots of the things that go on in the middle east is that it dates back to the bible. How can you expect people to change views they have held for htousands of years to change over night. Ceratin groups of people are never going to live with eachother only know instead of hating eachother they aim their hate at the US cause we dont have as many problems at them. I think if this was sponsered in any way by the palestinian government they should be expecting a little gift from the sky from the US any day now. Isrealis and palestinians are something the US should just either stay out of or deal with using force not just having peace talks ever 4 months and then they break the treaty a week later.

I completely agree with WJB, you can't blame civilians for this. Half of the celebrations are organized by the governent of those countries. I think that this is a terrible disaster but I don't think that anyone should hate or blame all the people of a particular race. Doing so would make us as bad as the terrrorists themselves. My condolences to anyone who has lost anyone in these terrible attacks.

they never said that we bombed afgahnistan, but i'm pretty sure that bush/cheney/powell would take and action without having an absoultely clear picture of what was going on. at least i hope they wouldn't...

WJBSKI is right, the implications of a war in this are obvious. Right now, the U.S. can consider itself at open hostilities with any suspicious nation. This includes almost every state in the Middle East, many of the Far Eastern governments, African communist and guerilla nations, Cuba, etc. The deaths of tens of thousands of American citizens will not pass unnoticed; U.S. retaliation will come, and it may well lead to open war. Remember, World War I was started by the assassination of a single man. What kind of statement will thousands of innocent dead make?

Already, the repercussions of this event can be seen starting to form. Explosions in Kabul, signifying a new front to the Afghanistani civil war. Tony Blair and the British government pledging to stand by the United States against any threat, Palestinians celebrating, accusations flying. An international crisis has started here, the worst political turmoil since the World Wars, and the worst loss of civilian life ever. More civilians died in World War II, in Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, but this unprovoked attack took place in a peacetime situation, not during a war. Now, with the U.S. military on high alert and situations flaring up around the world, we can't consider this 'peacetime' any more.

you're right about everything except taht the assasination of the guy taht started ww1 was not the cause... it was just the straw that broke the camels back.. there were numerous other causes, this was just the final one.

the terrorist today were trying to prove a point, they can attack innocent civilians and us as a country can't let it stand though, the terrorist attacked symbols of are wealth and power so are american spirit would be hurt, if the united states as a country bands together and lets the world know that our spirit is not hurt, but it is only stronger, the country's spirit may be the only thing the terrorists can not harm, if the country gets the message out that our spirit is now stornger and that the country will not take this lying down but the terrorists will pay and the american spirit will triumph during this time of diversity(sory for all the hackneyed phrases)

 
Man I gotta say that I feel sorry that our allies are going to be pulled into this... and it's gotta take balls for The British government to back us up when something like this has happened... they're opening themselves up as new targets but by god I hope all our allies will back us up when the bullets/missiles start flying. Just thought I'd show some appreciation for our bad-ass allies and all they've done/will do for us.

Although I am deeply saddened by all the people who died today, by far the saddest thing I have seen all day is the fact that the young people, the people who are going to run this country one day, are so incredibly disturbed and prejudiced. Today the United States of America and its people lost an incredible amount of respect in my eyes, and hopefully in the eyes of many other intelligent people who actually think before they speak. I watched as national news agencies jumped to conclusions by stating that this was the fault of the Arab world although there was absolutely no evidence to solidify that thought. It was said because that is what the American public wanted to hear. The American people need to hate, it was the Soviet Union, now it will be the Arab world. As I listened to the reports in class today I heard 'Fuck those dark-skinned terrorists' or 'This is all the Muslims' fault'. Now allow me to draw a couple comparisons that may hit you closer to home...keep in mind I absolutely DO NOT BELIEVE OR CONDONE ANY OF THESE, I am simply drawing a comparison so people will understand what they were saying. If someone was to hypothetically say, and again I mean no offense 'We should hang all those dirty N*ggers, they are dogs' or 'I wish Hitler would have finished off those Jews, let them fry like they should'. If someone, again hypthetically said that you would be apalled, and, if you were like me would knock the person out on the spot. If thats so offensive, why is everyone doing the very same thing to the Arab people. These attitudes that we are seeing here and I'm sure in all of your communities are the reason why what happened today happened. If I were to treat an African-American, a Native-American, a Hispanic-American, an Asian-American, a catholic, a protestant, a jew, or any other group the way I am seeing Arabs being treated right here, not only would I be sued, that group would have revenge on me for certain. So why in holy Hell are we saying this about Arabs???

There are nearly a billion arabs in this world, and you just disgraced all of them in the worst way because of the actions of a couple thousand or so. You are so very offended by children celebrating the death of Americans, but how would you react if someone stole your homeland, killed your brothers, and spit on your grave by saying 'they should all be exterminated' or 'those towelheads should be banned from the country.' Many of your minds are so incredibly closed already, but if you could just think about what you are saying. This is 2001, a time when this prejudice is supposedly gone, so why is this happening?? The flames from the buildings will be put out, the wounds of the injured will heal, but unless everyone changes these hateful disgusting thoughts now, they will never be extinguished.

(Again I meant none of the racist comments I expressed and I do not condone any of them, I was simply drawing a comparison.)

 
I wish we had a president that was cool, i want Bush to get fired up in his speech and lay down the fact that the US isnt to be fucked with. We need to use our power, while we have it, to make sure countries like Iraq and even Russia, dont have extremely dangerous weapons.

I think g-dubs said it best. Reading some of the 350+ posts on this issue today, I find it disconcerting that some people actually feel the way they do towards an certain nationality. It is these kinds of feelings that lead to exactly what happened today. Stop the hate.
