Tell me why you voted for the candidate you did.

I would just like to get an understanding of why you voted for whom you did. I am not here to criticize your vote because i realize that you may vote for whomever you like and thats the beauty of our country. But i would just like to get a better understanding, I am not here to start a political argument, just better understanding. Please respect my opinions as i will respect yours. If you did not vote in the election also do not comment.

I myself voted for Mccain. In all reality i almost did not vote. Reason being I do not think either candidate will support their policies. But i voted Mccain because i agree with most of his policies. I believe Abortion should be outlawed. I believe as an American i should be allowed to own a gun, The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is the Right to Bear Arms. I also do not like Obamas stance on immigration. Saying that we should give Mexicans a chance, a chance for the children to grow up and have a chance to attend universities. Now i think that it is great, people come to America for opportunity, but i just think you should be a citizen before you get those opportunities, it is not an impossible task. I am very against Socialism. I think if you work hard in life than life will reward you.

Fun Fact: Obama attended a Black Nationalist church for 22 years known as the Trinity United Church of Christ. For most of you that don't know this almost killed his candidacy. Reverend Wright said "God Damn the white USKKKofA" This man was just as racist as any white man.

McCain
the war/national security and taxes were my 2 biggest issues
however, im optomistic about Obama being my president

I didn't vote because NY is democratic by almost a million votes so it didn't matter.

However if I did I would've voted for Obama because McCain wanted to cut all funding and go through the budget line by line. Funding such as the National Science Foundation who currently pays for my grad school tuition and a very generous living expenses stipend.

Dude i am over it, but i just wanted to see if i got the responses I thought i would which I am. People with no valid points. If you are going to vote next election just PLEASE EDUCATE yourself. Because honestly there are tons of people who voted Obama because of the reasons stated above.

relax man. nobody who legitimately voted (including me) is gonna waste time explaining to you why we voted how we did.

blaaah. elections over...but since you asked...in a nutshell:

McCain because my family owns a veeeryy sucessful small business which was established in 1960. we make a lot of money and we really would like to keep that money because my family works 9-5 5 days a week just like many other families. so a big one was taxes, another one was because mccain would cut pork barrel where obama is proposing more and more spending which i dont really think will help the economy. i have a lot more reasons but at this point i'm really over the election and i dont feel like finishing this post hahahahah.

either way, obama won. i'll hope for the best!!

obama

because he doesn't advocate a foreign policy that calls for basically privatizing a sovereign country under the guise of eliminating terrorism.

"But i voted Mccain because i agree with most of his policies. I believe Abortion should be outlawed."

HILARIOUS. The first reason you post in this completely pointless thread, and it's a complete fail. Reality to you: McCain is pro-choice! Hahahahaha.

what are you even talking about...?

please explain, fair ruler of all that is political in the non-ski gabber forum. educate me with your incredible wealth of knowledge.

"I believe Abortion should be outlawed."
because you're a guy who thinks he has any right to make a decision on behalf of the women of America? on something that you yourself would never have to directly face?
it's people like you who should be aborted.

Well then the women of America should go fuck anyone they please and if they get pregnant well what the fuck does it matter. Yay for abortion. I don't speak for the women i speak for what is right.

Yes, but most likely he would have nominated a conservative as supreme court justice when the time came that would support overturning Roe v. Wade . Im pretty sure he mentioned that a few times in his campaign speeches.

delivering that child and bearing it for 9 months would be absolute torture and almost worse than the rape itself in most cases. but yeah ok.

i have voted nader for the past 2 elections. i dont really no what hes about but i support him for his effort of always running!

Dude you honestly don't think that they make exceptions for those who have been raped? It has to do with if the woman is irresponsible enough to make the wrong choices, then she should have to deal with the consequences that come with her decision.
I think i have got the information i was looking for out of this thread. Thank you NS for being apart of it.

it is not the child's fault for the irresponsibility of the parents. That's why there are adoption agencies. Don't give candy to a child if you are not going to let him eat it. So don't give a baby life if you are not going to let it keep it.

Obama - I was voting against McCain
I'm a libertarian, liberal social views, conservative economics (but for different reasons that conservatives)
Economic issues, foreign policy, all that stuff is generally taken care of by a group rather than just the president, but social issues and things like the supreme court go directly through the president. Therefor, those issues are far more important to me when deciding a president. Because of my liberal views, anyone who is against genetic research, pro nuclear energy, pro life, and would elect someone pro creationism in schools is someone I refuse to vote for.
I also prefer Obama's healthcare plan and like the idea of $4000 credit for so many hours of community service for college. Great idea in terms of financial aid. Just wish welfare and unemployment would work that way.

both candidates were pro-choice, however i believe that Obama was more of an advocate for it at any time of the pregnancy, while i think Mccain was mostly for it at the beginning of pregnancy (Correct me if i'm wrong). personally i'm completely against killing babies, but both candidates werent really a great option on the topic of abortion if your against it.

Not really, there are liberal, socialist, and conservative libertarians, its just the conservative ones that end up in the spotlight. I lean on the socialist liberal side.
I think there should be a smaller government. I hate that there is a law for every damned thing. I think people should be able to drink, smoke, own guns, have abortions, do genetic research to that which the please. But I believe with out government people are idiots and therefor am thankful for laws against crazy animal testing, against pedophiles, and anti making half donkey half human sub species.
I am against the government collecting money for things like unemployment and welfare. I hate those systems. I think if they are going to give money to someone with out a job that person should be doing 40 hours of community service a week or get a license to babysit 5 other kids for people doing community service.
I am however pro a socialized health care system regardless of everyones complaints on the manner and I do believe at a state level college should be free to near free in which I love Obamas $4000 tax credit for doing community service.
So yeah, this puts me into the libertarian party on the liberal end of it.

A homeless guy outside the Church I voted at was like "Obama is a HALF BREED MUSLUM JIHAD AIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE" and that really confirmed my vote for McCain.

i voted McCain because i do not like Obama's view on guns, Iraq or the Economy. I will only lose from redistribution of the wealth. McCain is straight out of the military industrial complex which is what we need right now. Obama will be too much of a pussy if anything happens. 9/11 was possible because clinton was too pussy to invade a country or two after they bombed the WTC the first time. the economy is cyclical and will pretty much fix itself. Also, now that the dems have everything, nancy pelosi is running the show. shell be able to push anything she wants through and pretty soon minimum wage will double and an apple will cost 20 dollars cuz we have to pay the guy picking them 15 an hour. one party having all the power is never a good thing, whether its the dems or the GOP. it kinda kills checks and balances

I think Romney dropped out because he realized the republicans really didnt have a chance in 08. McCain was a victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am surprised it was as closeas it was (popular vote, he got shit stomped the the electoral) I would like to see Romney get the nomination in 2012.

I voted McCain because he is an American hero, with experience and the credability to change this country. unlike the newb obama who is sure to fail in all aspects

words of wisdom from wordzofwizdum (hope i got that right). you sir, are also an american hero for not buying into the hype. Obama is an amazing speaker, thats about it
