Telemarking

too bad almost all the tele skiers in park are almost the same as alpines. the "freeride" telebindings have such stiff springs that they don't even really bend, it's basically the same as alpine. i never see those guys drop a knee, i just think teleing in the park is kinda pointless, might as well alpine. teleing is sick for the rest of the mountain though.

it doesn't kill your knees by any means, it's actually better for them. 70% of knee strength comes from the quads, and after one full day on a pair of teles, that's right where you'll feel it.

tele skiing is definitely not for everybody, but face it.. we rip the pow like alpine skiiers wish they could, and it's a fun new challenge in park after many years on alpine boards.

to bad your flat out wrong. pretty much opposite end of the spectrum wrong. tele bindings are nothing like alpine. yea, my springs are super stiff because i like to charge and go fast.

but no spring on the market keeps your boot close to your ski like an alpine does. when you think about it, yea, you gotta use some muscle to turn, but say landing switch...a simple spring is not going to hold 160lbs on the heel of your binding. that absolutly ridiculous. retarded actually.

compared to the strength of your legs and quads...those springs are fucking soft. there nothing. then add weight. you have weight and muscle working against you.

another thing. duh, you never see guys in the park drop a knee. why would they...? obviously, if theyre skiing tele, they like skiing all mountain and turning. people dont buy a tele setup just to go and ski park. if you see any tele park skiers out there, you can bet your ass they rip the rest of the mountain.

and i respect your last sentence haha. i ragged on you. whatever. teleing is sick, and i think guys who venture into the park desrve some credit. granted, its not exactly there place, but its fun to dick around and shit. its not easy by any means, and neither is alpine. but comparing tele to alpine bidnings just cus of the springs...youd need like iron or lead springs.

I've been skiing for a long ass time, but i gave telemarking a try when my dad bought his seccond pair of them, and gave his old pair to me. I thought it was really fun, it presented a whole new challenge to skiing. Near the end of my first day of telemarking i hit up the park. I was landing 3's and could 270 out of the box easily. However i am unsure of how people land switch with tele-skis. I died twice trying to do a 5 and gave up. I didn't switch to telemarking or anything, but its fun to screw around on them every once in a while.

Bottom line, Telemarking is not gay... just give it a chance and you will probably like it.

exactly. If you have any knowledge of physics you'll realize that the forces acting on your body after landing switch from a 60+ foot table will greatly overpower any springs or cartridges. Yes some of the stiffer bindings allow you to come close to dragging your hands after landing switch of a rail or mini-park jump, but if you're landing something legit switch, you sure as fuck better be completely stable.

yeah, no doubt teleskiing is sick

super smooth and fun to watch, but when you have old ppl w/ bad knees (a.k.a. mi padre) it pretty ugly and slow lol

im gonna get into it though, this year i hope, if not next

tele is amazing, ive never brought mine into the park (maybe this season) but in pow or trees and even groomers it is the way to go, not mention it keeps you in great shape
