Taps = Stupid

i never said anything about telling people what tricks they should or should not do. im just saying I, personally, in my opinion, think taps are gay. let them go ahead and tap everything! i just think it looks stupid. doesnt mean i am in any way preventing them from doing what they think is fun.

good argument btw...the whole its "FREEstyle" thing.

since we're on the subject of things that are stupid...

i think that skiers trying to butter onto rails is pretty god damn stupid most of the time...here's two good examples of atrocious "butters" onto rails..

i'll agree that a lot of butters onto rails are really just reverts just as your getting to the lip, but why does that make it stupid? it adds some difficulty to the trick and feels really fun. it just makes real butters look that much more stylie in comparison

i honestly don't understand why people have to hate on tricks that they don't personally choose to do. if you think it looks bad, or should be scored poorly in competition thats one thing, but isn't the whole point of park skiing just doing stupid unnecessary maneuvers for the sake of fun?

and op, try a switch nose tap tails over on an urban style rail and tell me it doesn't add difficulty.

Skiing should only be about tricks that are in the ''book'' . Switch ups, spins on, spins out. OP is right

I hate to actually take part in this thread, that is full of shit, but this is really bothering me. Here is a list of tap tricks that are harder than their non-tap counterparts:

tailtap front 2

tailtap front 4

nosetap bind 2

tailtap disaster

nosetap on

nosetap lip on

tailtap on

nosetap off to regular

tailtap off to switch

nostap 360

nosetap 540

tailtap 360

tailtap 720

(^all over some sort of jib)

nosetap 2 on

and the list goes on.

that RMU guy is sick as fuck man? with style for days, and that was a not a jump edit duuude, and he can do shit both ways watch another vid man, and wow you can do all those tricks eh? thats great dude props, there was some really hard tricks done with great style. you must be really good budy. hats off to ya

what's the point in doing a trick if you're not even going to do it right?

in my mind, butters like those are pretty much the same as missing a grab in a jump trick. fail.

Taps and shuffles require very precise timing and spatial awareness to complete successfully. These are two of the most important aspects of most sports, and when practiced, are often what separate professional athletes from recreational. Whether or not you like them, they are inarguably an excellent advanced exercise, which may account for their popularity. The best aspects of every trend in tricks will survive in some form and become part of the rich tapestry of skiing, making it yet richer and more appealing to all.

i think taps look sweet. just more creativity. it's okay not to like them but don't hate on others for doing them

idk man, personally i like taps and those 180 ons. just my personal preference, but i'm not gonna hate on you like some of the other people on here just because you're speaking your mind.

didn't watch video and taps are fun as hell but it is pretty dumb when people act like it's adding any difficulty to a trick, i gotta admit that

op shut up. If 2:12 in the skate vid doesn't give you skigasms then i feel so sorry for you. Taps are awesome unless they're overdone, and saying they don't add difficulty is just stupid, course a straight air and straight air tap (on some radom box) are the same level of difficulty, but cork9 is much easier than cork3tap->cork7

taps fo daayz

Well, that's all dependent on the tap you're doing. 180 tail tap on a box is nothing impressive, but a nosetap with a 2 out is tough.

yeah youre totally right, when i wrote that i had in mind back when it was really in to do a little tap on the end of small rails, and lots of those shots were included alongside real tricks..

but yeah there are some amazing ones nowadays, tap rodeos, large blind spins with taps in the middle, ABM's insane thing at the olympics...

when youre right youre right

Taps look great and your opinion is wrong. But I kinda have a problem with winning a game of skate by using the same gimmick over and over. For example of I knew my opponent couldn't butter and I could, I would get my letter on him and move on to more tricks. But also, I'm not a pro skier so they may see it differently haha

50-50's are sick on rails! try a skier slide on a closeout. I like to see people doing more original things than just spinning as many times as they can off/on a rail. (which can be sick too.)
