Tanner Halls says YOUR not acctually Skiing!

Pettit, Candide, Sage, CR, etc are certainly the best at skiing in its "true" sense and that comp is on point, I can fully agree with him there. The rest of what he was implying sounds a little hypocritical and preachy, but Tanner has certainly never been the one to shy away from a controversial statement.
 
I agree with him about big mountain, its awesome but he used to give big respect to Dumont Colby etc.. why does he feel it's necessary to all of a sudden shit all over park skiing??
 
A lot of you guys are over analyzing and taking what he said way too literal. He's not expecting everyone to have a helicopter to do "real" skiing. He's not expecting everyone to have the opportunity to ski terrain like that. I think hes just SUGGESTING to some other guys that hes known, respected, and been around for years to maybe take a step back from frickin park, halfpipe, and learning new tricks. And take some of their great skill to the backcountry and push a part of the sport that has been so neglected by the majority of the Newschool scene (except TGR, who is all about straightling shit and going fast). Not to mention that the top pros in the park scene all have access to helicopters and that type of terrain w/o much difficulty. Think if events like this were around 5 years ago when they really should have? What type of runs and support would be behind this type of competition? It'd be huge!

He's not calling out and insulting people in such a negative fashion like you over-analyzing NS addicts tihnk. Take a step back and realize who is saying this and how he has done nothing but put positive vibes and support into skiing.
 
Yo park skiing, I'm real happy for you, and imma let you finish, but big mountain is the realest skiing of all time. OF ALL TIME!!!!!
 
i wish i could go skiing unfortunately i dont have helicopters or sponsors that will pay for me to take heli trips and smoke weed 24/7
 
what candide threw on that course takes the most talent of anything in skiing. That is real skiing. he isnt saying that skiing rails and park isnt fun.

through his drunk Jamaican/french-caps-lock rambling i deciphered that real skiing is outside the park. when you get down to it, hes right.
on another note, candide won a big mtn comp?! thats pretty badass
 
I would have to say I totally disagree, big mountain is were its always been. Park took over and now park skiers like tanner are going for the big mountains and back country. Big mountain will never die nor park. Their just different Big mountain kickers are were its at

i dont think he was addressing the average newschooler. he was calling out his pro friends to step their game up. nothing wrong with that. i know me and my friends talk shit to each other all the time in an attempt to get each other amped up.

i find it funny anyone that takes this so personal.
 
lolzor he should learn to be quiet sometimes. id love to do real skiing but you know, it only snows 2 times a year over here.
 
Tanner is telling Jon "fuck you" and go "ski mountains like this"?

Jon has won a couple of Swedish big mountain comps himself, I believe Tanner has yet to accomplish such a feat. He may be a great skier and high off his mind, but shut the fuck up please. Disrespecting others like that just doesn't go too well. I hope he never makes it back to the X-Games circuit and whatnots.

I'm just waiting till he comes on here with CAPS LOCK and says IMMA LET YOU FINISH BUT...

He went off a few years ago saying JON doing doubles is taking the sport in the wrong directions, and I just saw in interview on him saying is fav trick to see done is a dub cork seven in the pipe, and he does kang flips and dub backs

Hes a fucking loser, quites slope when he loses and retires, then retires when he loses in pipe, he quites when he knows that he is no longer on top

not even going to get into his regge and his dreads, true rata people fucking hate whites, hes a poser wanna be tool but can ski
 
he said that he likes to see a well rounded skier(aka dane T), and he point out in this vid tht skiers like simon and peter O only ski park, you never see them get in the heli and ski the man sized lines
 
as much as i like tanner this comes in a negative light to me.
two things...
i dont think he realizes where the "money" is...anymore...
and second, maybe simon dumont doesnt have fun hucking cliffs? Maybe pete doesnt like throwing lawn darts off 80 footers? without a variance in the sport we would all be doing the same thing and the sport would not grow, becoming stagnant.

He talks about kids being stoked on hiking their summer setup for 5 hours. And then there's the part where they ride that little park.
 
he also said that he thought it was cool that kids could spend hours working on tricks on a flat box in a back yard and that they were enjoying skiing just as much as anyone else.
 
Anybody hating on Tanner needs to chill the fuck out, he's trying to make a point, not really call people out. Its just Tanner being tanner.
Unfortunately for a lot of us..... He's right.
There is nothing that compares to skiing lines, it is so rewarding and so fun even when you scout the most simple shit and just shred it. I would take a real mountain over a park any day, but unfortunately I don't have that option. However, I respect Tanner 100% for this and completely agree.
 
yea, he was most likely a few beers deep during that... all close to the lens, yelling jibberish...

I mean, I know what he's saying, but he made himself look like a fucking idiot the way he said it.
