He's correct about one thing; skiing is a lot more than just park n pipe.
Imho you're not a good "skier" if you can throw down in the park, you're a good parkriderimho you're not a good "skier" if you shred GS and others, you're a racer.
You're a good skier if you can do both; if you know how to actually ski, and you know how to throw down tricks and then bring that to big mountain riding. Then you can say: "I am a skier!"

i kinda agree. like skiing is skiing no matter where you are, as long as u have skis on you and your enjoying your self then your skiing. and yes park skiing is a sport, cuz its takes skill.
 
ha thats a really good way to look at it, because this sport needs to drop a few of the older riders cough jon olsson, cough peter o, u know and let some young guns come up and push the sport.
 
I agree with tanner to a point, I more of a back country skier. But I LOVE what park has done to big mountain and back country skiing. People are doing lines with natural kickers that would have never been imagined if it weren't for the park. Same with park People got sick of bumps with jumps lol and started just jumping and hitting rails. Its a cycle skiing is great cause u can do it in the middle of no were or on the stairs of a public library. SKIING IS FREEDOM

Tanner I am sorry that i live in Pennsylvania and do not have the resources to ski mountains like that and snow like that and cliffs like that. but what can i do, should i just rollerblade? the park aspect is a huge aspect of skiing primarily because that is what the majority can do and unfortunately in most cases the majority rules, park is skiing wether you like it or not

He was one of the first skiiers to care more about his appearance than he did his style. Laame.

On another note, I think TGR guys are the opposite of newschoolers as far as big mountain is concerned. I say this in the utmost respect of both sites. Meaning NS is a park site where you are starting to see park rats take there stuff into the BC where now I see TGR guys transitioning into some newschool style where they have always been. I think we can all agree that park can't progress nearly as MUCH(anymore) as the BC can. Tanner stop being uncool while being right.

Furthermore, it's a direct contradiction to what he is saying in EDIAS about how just going out and hitting a box can be skiing and what it's all about. you need to have a natty ice and chill out bro. tanners always loved bc more than the park but thats not to say he doesn't love park as well. hes sayin he thinks that skiing in the bc is the realest. stop hatin cause hes done more for park skiing than anyone.

Of course anything against somethine else will be taken as controversial but yea it would be so dope to see colby, simon doing more bc. Simons TBC seggy he hit urban too as well as bc and it made a sick seggy now he just does a shitton of comps. Good skier for sure but could be great if he pushed the bc a little more imo.

and what you define as "REAL" is SUBJECTIVE. Tanner's statements are akin to me telling you what your favorite food or drink is.
Tanner is an epic skier and an icon in the sport, but that statement was out of line. Even worse, some of the people he is calling out are better BC skiers than he is, or probably ever will be.
 
he was most likely all hyped up and shit because of what just went down at that comp, and because of the fact he cant ski right now, hes just all pumped up and saying whats on his mind. im sure he thinks going out and hitting a box is still real skiing. but at that time he was in the mountains watching crazy shit go down, so he changed his mind about what real skiing is at that time.
 
He didn't talk shit on those guys, he said he respected them. He was just saying he thinks real skiing is taking your stuff in to the mountains. And it isn't something that just recently popped out of his head: (1:50). Although I do have to disagree with his opinion. Real skiing is anywhere you want it to be.

Tanner is obviously high/drunk/something and he's just so damned stoked after watching some sick stuff. The guy just saw Candide throwing down a picture perfect cork7 into a stylish 3 into a MASSIVE flatspin and all this in a single line (while drinking a ton of beer.. or "vin chaud".. of both of them). After this I would also be stoked as fuck.

He just wanted to show the freestyle comunity what he loves the most wich is big mountain skiing and that we should think outside the box and try going out of the park for once. So yeah it came out a bit wrong because of what he did prior to this interview but hell, all in all he was just trying to share how stoked he was.

But again, some of your park rats egos got touched a bit because you have to take everything outside its context and you just can't look at the big picture. We've known Tanner for what 10 years more or less ? Show the guy some respect, he's a legend in our sport and i'm sure as hell he wasn't trying to direspect anyone with this video.

Actually Rastafari has held many black power and afrocentric beliefs. It has also held many homophobic beliefs but that is just because it is a branch of Christianity. They are moving away from these beliefs in an attempt to become more PC, but they certainly exist. Just not as much as they would have 30 years ago. I've never been to Jamaica, I just read.
 
kind of funny because he ran the pipe scene for a loong timeinterested to where he will take his skiing after he recovers.was he just chilling or was he a judge?
