Taboo Things in Skiing

As Steve Stepp once said while discussing skiing and drinking wine, "The bow and arrow grab....I don't really want to demonstrate it because its fucking stupid."

What else are taboo things in skiing?

Any grab like the bow and arrow where you have to contort yourself so much its impossible to have style because your in a crazy yoga position, I think the dub handrag 3 is pretty taboo if done like a gymnast

Wow, I must be getting old, was always a big fan of a TJ schiller flatspin with a bow and arrow

In Colorado, pulling down the safety bar. I know everywhere else you pull that things down before you get off the ramp, but NO ONE uses that shit around here.

Nobody uses them anywhere..

Fuck that, I like having something to lean on.

Silent rock

fuck outta here i been doing that since i first went to hood and my dad has been doing the same when he was a kid. shits gotta date back to the beginning of timberline at least.

Don't fuck with silent Rock. You could make a bridge across 26 with the broken collarbone and acl's from those who did not heed.

reverts and shuffles are what you do when you want to spin an extra 180 but cant do it in the air

In CO, it's hella taboo to use pole straps. Everyone is scared of a tree pulling their arm off.

That's okay if you're scared of heights and want to use the bar, but I will say the nastiest shit to you, in front of your kids, if you hit me in the head with it without saying anything.

You have got to be kidding. I run over my friends' skis all the time in the lift line. It's even funnier if you can do it to strangers.

Remember kids: The faster you break your skis, the sooner you can justify getting new ones.

Personally I think the bow and arrow grab is fucking sick.

I think using an object to shotgun a beer (keys or a knife) while skiing is pretty weak

Idk i just drink a lot

This is the truth. One day as a naive young skier I left ludacris bumpin on my past the rock and proceeded to break my collarbone in half on a cannon box later that day.. If I had called last run it could've been a death sentence

- Telling someone to put out a blunt in the gondola

- Those rubber mohawk things

- Spread eagles

- STEALING GEAR FROM THE LODGE (Kids i know stole like 5 snowboards that belong to other riders, they got caught like 2 days later bus they put them on eBay)

- Vapes on the lift line

Okay, lets see you ski a chute with no poles

I did it last year at snowbird when I had a broken hand. I'm not saying I wouldn't preferred to have poles but it's definitely doable to ski big mountain without poles. You end up a lot closer to the mountain on your turns, a lot like snowboarding

So blunts in the gondola are ok, but vapes in the lift line are not?

Also, spread eagles are sick

In NZ (Cardrona) they'll stop the lift and yell at you, but at Ruapehu they don't really care.

In Colorado I've never even seen ski patrol use them to be honest. That's crazy how strict some countries are. What happens in a roll back if your bar is down?!

I've gotten my pass pulled for not putting down the bar in NY.

Also in a roll back you would raise the bar and jump off lol.

Probably because NY mountains are land of the asian invasian. Lots of gapers who don't know how to use lifts + lack of safety harness = bad

Wht mountain?

I was so high most of the time in Co that I would just announce "Bar Down!" and put that shit down. East coast has absolutely no lifts that high or that long and just being able to rest my feet felt like a god send.
