Swain is for sale

a rich ns member's dad must buy this and turn it into the newschoolers.com mountain. this needs to happen

It's been for sale for the last 3 seasons. It's a day trippers hill. It needs to be free for all the work that is needed.

swain is the worst ski resort in western NY. They used to have a sick park about 7 years ago and now its pathetic. The chairlifts give you splinters and are slow as fuck. But one thing is that they have perfect slopes for parks. The mountain will die soon if someone doesnt buy it

I looked at it, got a prospectus and all. It's too much of a local hill with local strings tied into it. Not enough population to support a great park scene. It's too bad cause it does seem to be perfect size and slope, just a lousy location. I think the adjacent land is tied up from developing too. Can't remember the details.

ahahahhaha that thread made my day. That was so long ago, before i knew erik olson, andy parry, and ross. I still cant believe crichton was there.

There were some kids from the "Swain Gang" at one of the comps and shitty Kissing Bridge this past season.

Never been there myself.

This is NS and this is your life! Thought you might get a kick out of that. Pretty cool actually, it will even be better, if we ever get an enhanced search function.

So about Swain. According to the old threads some kids got hurt so thats why thier parks disappeared. Don't they still have a decent race program though?

yea they do stuff for the schools around the area. Alot of races are held there. Thats probably where they make enough money to stay open.

I don't remember the specifics but if the land can't be developed right next door I on't see how anyone can make that place work. sucks prolly be reading about it on NELSAP

swain sucks dick for nickels....the park only gets ok for about a week mid winter then it melts out and effin joe doesnt do shit about it (but i cant blame him since its only him)....i ski there for free and i dont even go......hell anyone can ski for free they dont check tickets at all.......i wouldnt mind helpin out to make a decent park but its almost not worth it, what a shame.....

Hahaha, Swain would be the worst investment ever. There isn't a large enough population around it to support the mountain, and it doesn't pull business from any big cities in the area due to its location and the fact that it simply couldn't meet capacity. Swain reached its prime 7 years ago as said, when it was the first in the area to build a good park (for the time). In the time since then, the park has gotten worse and business has declined to the point that I have no idea how they are able to stay open anymore. It would be perfect for a really good park, but I doubt the snowmaking is even good enough to blow enough snow for one decent (60+ ft) table.

I don't know, I shouldn't be ranting since I grew up there, but from a business standpoint it's just bad news no matter how you look at it.

I got hurt in their pipe (i decked out and my ski came off, slicing through my knee all the way to the knee cap...freak accident) that was the last year they had the pipe there.
