Superunknown XII

Geoff and Alex nelson just dropped theirs, this statement might change a little bit

Their entries were really good, they definitely deserve to be finalists, but still last year was way heavier

Agreed, watching last years semi-finalists compared to this years is crazy.

Taube with the crazy fake arm swag, looks wack haha

I havent watched it yet but that is gonna completely ruin it for me. Easily the worst style in skiing

I agree with this comment. I mean, isn't Superunknown primarily about finding upcoming riders for deep snow and urban segments? The kid has a solid park style, but did nothing in particular that set's him apart from the many other kids who have a similar style.

Arkadii's was definitely one of the better entries so far, lots of good urban and with clean style too. So far, this has been one of the weaker groups of riders in the past two or three years. Hope one of the finalists still to be announced will have a heavy edit.

It used to be right?

But based off of last year, and arguably the year before, its so they can invite them to a park shoot and have them prove themselves. Last year seemed like it was just a content farm for Level1's social media, are they filming with any of the finalists from last year this season?

I know that out of last years finalists, Mitchell has been filming with them this year, which is predicted since he was the winner. Kevin Salonius has also had the chance to go on an urban trip to Estonia. Geoff was invited out to the park shoot again this year. The rest of last years finalists are mostly doing there own videos, or in some cases have had injuries. Not to say that none will have the opportunity to film with Level 1 in future seasons, or re-enter into the contest if the time is right.

I dunno what it was, but I wasn't impressed. I understand not everyone can hit urban and yeah his style was above average but I feel like we see that shit every day? Maybe i just need to watch it again. He basically got picked because he will do well at the superunknown shoot.

I thought it was really good, keeping in mind this is some amateur kid that I'd never heard of before, I also felt like I'd seen that shit a 100 times before but by the top pros of our sport.

Was also glad to see someone killing it on jumps as well

Ok right on, thanks for clearing that up i had no clue.

Gabe Taube's entry might be my favorite so far, creativity and style was on point. Also that ender was FUCKING RIDICULOUS. Hand drag dub 10 tranny find excuse me?

Both those edits were pretty sick but I have two complaints

Did not like the way Gabe held his arms after every landing, but his tricks were crazy

I really liked most of Wagstroms edit but personally I think shuffles look fucking awful. It just looks like an over/under rotation.

You can say that, but from a technical standpoint they're insanely difficult and require absurd amounts of edge control.

Man i thought that the majority of the semi's were more impressive than the finalists. Nothing has stuck out to me at all.

Not even a hand drag dub 10 tranny find? open up your body to receive beautiful skiing, your body is clearly not ready

i guess that was crazy but his style was bad and that turned me off from the whole edit.

Everythings that's been put out has been really generic skiing IMHO. Nothing has been absolutely mind blowing to me.

No trick like Mitch Brower's cliff wallride yet. That got me out of my seat last year.

No edit like his either. 100% Back-country and Urban. And nothing mellow in those fields either...

Mitchells edit was definitely one of the heaviest ever. He's un real.

I'd call it dub 10 tranny survival, not find, if he can do it again I may reconsider

Hardly a tranny find, plus Jesper and a few other people have been doing that trick for a few years. Still crazy but not like ERMAGHERD

That jump was small as fuck though. It was still sick regardless that Jesper has done it before

It disappoints me that Siggers won't win super unknown. Kid kills it so hard and is probably the best skier out of the bunch. But I'd love to see Williams in a level one film

None of these got me hyped like the great entries from austin T , dom laporte, or the hood crew in previous years. Still great to see some fresh faces and variety in style.

He won't? I don't know, regardless of how he does here I am sure we will be seeing a bunch of great stuff from him in the future. He's such a killer combination of great skier and media producer, I think he'll go far and I'm stoked to see what he does

I'm going for Dylan Siggers because he is the most entertaining one to watch and he is actually really good. And of course Alec nelson, the funk was way too sick.

Well if you look at super unknown the final competition. It's not Siggers forte, but the other riders it is. Siggers focuses on being a killer rider in the back country. He'll do amazing things and I'm so excited to see him in the future. But the circumstances regarding super unknown means he's at a disadvantage
