Is it just me or are the semi-finalists not that impressive this year? If I remember correctly pretty much every one of them blew me away last year, and this year their kinda meh with the exception of a couple.

Totally the opposite for me. I was stoked on almost every one of these, more so than most of the finalists last year.

Definitely agree with you on this one. I recall the past two years in particular several of the semi-finalists could have easily been in finals as well. Makes me curious to see who made finals this year.

JOSH WONG for president. But seriously, he absolutely slays. He does tricks on urban features that most really good skiers couldnt even do in the park.

He does look really small. I really liked his style though.

Vegard's music did not fit his edit at all. Completely ruined it for me. I think that track would've been more appropriate at my grandma's water aerobics class than in a superunknown video.

Swadburg deserved it, but i can't be the only one who thought Kazakovs was weak. I feel like he just did the same stuff over and over.

I dunno what it was, but I wasn't impressed. I understand not everyone can hit urban and yeah his style was above average but I feel like we see that shit every day? Maybe i just need to watch it again. He basically got picked because he will do well at the superunknown shoot.
 
Not that impressed with the entries so far. I feel like that russian guy was only in the finals because he had urban and backcountry, his skiing wasn't that impressive. Swadburg's good but nothing he did blew my mind. Definitely not the heaviest year for SU.
 
Arkadii definitely had some of the better shots in the contest. The previous SU threads already proved most nsers were not very competent at judging a rider's true potential... *cough* lsm *caugh*.. so no surprises here.

I agree with this comment. I mean, isn't Superunknown primarily about finding upcoming riders for deep snow and urban segments? The kid has a solid park style, but did nothing in particular that set's him apart from the many other kids who have a similar style.

Arkadii's was definitely one of the better entries so far, lots of good urban and with clean style too. So far, this has been one of the weaker groups of riders in the past two or three years. Hope one of the finalists still to be announced will have a heavy edit.

I have doubts about him winning since entries who haven't focused urban in the past have always struggled, but his composure in the air and on his landings set him apart in my eyes. I just thought the entire edit was super clean and pretty refreshing to watch.
