Superunknown VIII Finalist Released one by one

As far as the kickers in the edit in question, i agree, they're fucking huge. It's weird, it seems to be unnecessary seeing that he is a very good rail skier.
As far as the "which side is legit" question, that's another thing. It's funny how everyone representing the "non legit" side seems to think that because they say it, it's true. How about presenting a coherent argument proving your point, instead of just saying "that's the way it is, because i say so". It's pretty childish, and it's a completely invalid argument. Things are what you make them, if he want's to build it on that side, he will do so. Of course you are free to criticise him, but that doesn't mean you're right. Maybe he want's to change the perception of what is legit? Point is, it seems illogical, even stupid, to be so forcefully supporting the legitimacy of a supposed rule, in a sport that's not really supposed to be a sport, but a life style that offers a culture without many rules, at least the stupid kind.
I'm not saying it's legit to build the kicker on that side, i'm just saying that you cannot argue the legitimacy of a rule, when there aren't suppose to be any. It's freeskiing, do what you wan't to do, and don't follow the rules that others try to pull over your head.

You kno what I'd like?

One comp where athletes would be filmed with both poles and no poles and then frame by frame compared by who flail more.

For real. I hope he has an affordable chiropractor because he must get a spinal realignment after every time he lands. He has some good tricks, but I can't stand watching him ski.

Benoit on the other hand was filthy. Smooth, big tricks, good grabs, and some sick urban. Plus I have never heard of him.

its not rules and regulations its just etiquette and how things should be done. shovel stairs, lip inside the staircase, lip no bigger than a couple of stairs. how can you expect to compare tricks done on the same feature if one guy builds a gigantic lip for his trick and doesnt shovel his stairs and the other builds a proper size lip and shovels the stairs for his trick? i dont know whats not to get, its not like FIS whatsoever, its just how things should be done.

4:32 and 5:10 Same contest just a few years back. I don't think there was a shit storm when Tom Wallisch used a lip on the outside of an urban rail. I think everyone should just chill out about where a lip is placed on a rail.

damn benoit gendron absolutely slayed. his edit is the only one to really drop my draw like i think the finalists should. wow.

there was a huge shit storm about the big kickers in Tom's superunknow.

and to his credit those weren't 15 foot down rails...

Truly think Austin is our winner just the best style and absolutely crazy tricks Will has still got mad time to get better even though he is mad good already

dude all you've said is "that's how it should be, thats just the way it should be." there's no should, and there's no right or wrong. explain why it "should be" and maybe i'll take you seriously.

in skateboarding, a major thing that makes street rails different is height. that should be a factor in skiing too. if you just build big jump ons it makes rails much more similar and makes what should be harder rails way easier. it makes the trick less legit because you needed extra help to do it. skateboarders dont us a little wooden jump to get onto tall rails do they? no they ollie off flat. obviously skiers dont have the same type of leverage but you can still ollie pretty high with skis on your feet, so why use a cheater pad?

as for shoveling stairs. if you dont shovel your stairs, you might as well be skiing a park rail. do i really need to explain that one?

jumps outside of the staircase. it just plain looks stupid.

who cares, do you want to see, 450s onto dfd's? i like to see legit setups but jump size will limit tricks, even for the of them

i dont usually like to hate on someones style like that but....i honestly was distracted from his skiing by those ridiculous arm swinging afterbangs haha

not arguing who can jump higher.

It's bullshit to say "waaaaaah I'm a skier so I need a jump to get onto this rail, I'm handicapped!!!"

I never said anything about jump size. My only argument has been lip placement. Look at what even Logan Imlach said in this thread. lip placement makes zeroooo difference in the trick. If the stairs happen to be on a certain side of the rail what the hell does that change? a rail trick is a rail trick. most people can't hit a rail from the left side anyways and you're arguing whether or not it should be hit from the right.. bullshit. just ski and do tricks. if you can trick a street rail, trick a street rail no matter how you have to hit it. he's still not riding onto the rail. he's just jumping from a different side.

woah woah woah bro, i said setting the lip on the outside just so that you slide it your natural way is fucking weak. if your putting it on the outside so you can lip 2 on or something hard, then more power to you.

its a matter of precedence, and the same link to skateboarding. can skateboarders ollie from the outside of the set? usually not, because there's grass there, so why should we be able to?

if you want to put the jump on the outside of a rail to have fun, cool. but don't put it in an edit because it looks like shit.

oh wait, i thought skiing was all about having fun, i guess now it's all about following a bunch of rules and regulations, shits getting worse than the fis
