Sunday River vs. Sugarloaf

straight up i think sundayriver is better. i've had a pass there for 10 years and its my home mountain. But once a few years ago i went up to sugarloaf for a day during february vacation and found the conditions terrible. Sugarloaf doesn't have the snowmaking capacity of sunday river so you need relible snowfall for sugarloaf to be good.

So on your pow situation, the snowfields should still have plenty of freshies on them. But then again, sundayriver is really cheaping out on there grooming and only putting a couple strips down on trails if they even groom them at all. I expect OZ to be a paradise tomarrow if your thinking about venturing to sundayriver for powder.

if you want a park. i think sundayrivers is lacking right now.

oooh good thread, this oughta get pple worked up. i go to both all the time and i like the loaf, for pple that say the loaf sucked the one time they went there this is rediculous, one weekend of crappy conditions isnt enough to convince me that a mtn sucks. the loaf is def hit or miss, carabassett valley is a wind tunnel, and due to the higher elevation the loaf is always colder. however, if you like a real challenge, some steep-ass terrain, and one of the most laid-back coolest vibes of any mtn on the east, the loaf is ur best bet. if you like getting cut off by joey's from jersey, well, then the river is the place to be.

whenever im at the river i feel like i spend more time going across the mountains than down them

i heard that last weeked was the best weekend all year at sugar loaf...but sunday river is closing sunday for no reason...so you choose
