Thanks for the input!
I am extremely familiar with the countless NSAA studies and am very much interested in the approach that Sugarbush is taking to a fall-off in participation and the shifting demographics of the ski industry.
Most initiatives seem to focus on bringing in brand new skiers/never-nevers, and fail to address the fact that increasing retention has a higher statistical likelihood of being successful. These are people who skied/rode and enjoyed it. However, for whatever reasons (likely a combination of personal and financial reasons) moved away from it. Once they stop in their 20s, they are unlikely to return.
As I mentioned, I am curious to see how other mountains respond and what sort of effect the offering has in retaining skiers after college. It should be an interesting experiment to watch unfold.
