SUBARU VS. AUDI

well first of all any one who read that seen that i parenthasized "(at least where i live") so u really had no grounds to start something!

yeah i know i was shitfaced last night while posting on this so yes i know it is a very skilled sport but u have to admit that yes it has to do with throttle, and steering, which brings in the handling but they are swervin to start the slide which made me say gettin out of control.

and i was suggesting a car that in my opinion was better. just as fast, more luxurious than a subaru and will not fall apart like an audi

You are entitled to your own opinion of which car is the best, but I don't think the volvo can hold much against an STi. Also, some people don't place much emphasis on luxury, either. Personally, I HATE leather, navigation, and all that other useless crap.

why it wouldnt hurt it would just give u ground to argue with anyone who was dissing on them or didnt know what they were talkin about!

well, considering you have a WRX yourself, that makes you biased. I have an Audi, that makes me biased.

I like to think of it this way: Which would you be more comfortable being in when you DO lose traction, spin out and hit something?

wehats with all this, telling people what to do or what they need to be in your cult? you don't own a car dude, you blew up like 2 that were straight up GIVEN to you because someone was trying to help you get your life straight, and now you just sit on the net and make stuff up, while you are getting all drunk and shit mang, think about it, there is not one good reason why you should be drinking.

uhh.. i'd take the impreza... "CHERRY HILL, N.J., April 16 -- Subaru of America, Inc. today announced that the 2006 Subaru Impreza has earned the highest rating in the recent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests."

hmm, well my dad used to have an old suburu and that thing fucking looked like an accordianed when the other car was practically unscathed in comparason. which was, in fact, an audi. but this was an old outback and they've redone all of thier cars recently.

how about this baby!

you buy expensive cars to look cool and feel cool and because you like them. Audi looks cooler, feels cooler, and makes you sound cooler.

ex-"what car do you have?"

-"subaru outback"

"what car do you have"

-"Audi A6"

.

one of these sound cooler.

I guess some people need a practical car, not a trophy car like some of you that are so overly concerned about your image. When you tell people you have an A6 (if you are under about 30), most people think spoiled rich ass kid that doesn't deserve or work for anything, not "oh thats awesome"

on another note, I am buying a different car since I am going to Montana in the fall and my grand cherokee gets 9 mpg. I narrowed my selection down to Audi and Subaru, because of awd. I really thought a nice used a4 quattro manual, with 40 to 50 thousand on it would be a great car. I started looking at them. I was absolutly shocked with what I saw. I drove an 03 with 30,000 miles. It had every option (sport pack, 3 liter, ......) Anyway, I got in it, and everything was competley worn out. The leather was worn, the controls for the windows and locks, were all visibly worn. I couldn't get over this. My Jeep with 160,000 is in better shape. Plus the car was maticulously maintained. When I drove this one the steering was sloppy, and the overall feel of the vehicle was it just seemed tired.

The next a4 I looked at was my dad's friends. Its an 01 with 60,000. He maintains his vehicles very well. I opened up the doors and looked at the bottom seam, where there is a pinch weld, and all four of the doors in this area were all rust. Not visible from outside but it was getting close to rusting through. Unbelievable on a relatively new, garaged car.

These two cars totally discouraged me. I mean, I know an audi is still pretty much a VW, (A4 and Passat are pretty much the same) but I expected a little more out of this company.

I am thinking Subaru at this point. I would love a wrx, but it would be tough to find a non abused one. Plus the insurance is probably killer, with so many dumb ass kids driving them. I guess a legacy sedan with a 5 speed manual, is my best option. The new ones are pretty cool.

sorry for the long post/rant. I just am so pissed off with the car thing, i dont know what to do.

nice, I am going to aug. orientation. I think it starts the 23rd. Classes start about the 29th maybe? I want to come out at least a week before orientation, to do some climbing and fishing, and maybe shoot down to jackson to see a friend. But I have a hell of a drive, its about 27 hours mich. to bozeman. I need a decent car. I want the wrx, but I just think insurance will rape me.

well it depends on your age and driving record.Hey if u climb just bring your gear and we will take a ride over to FROG ROCK over off the pass!

yeah they are nice and strong..safety oriented (obviously).

they will hold their own, and are designed more like the audi's rather than the subaru's

ok here is my opinion, i like audi's more than subaru, but i still think subaru's are sick.

alot of people think audi's are for comfort, yeah this is totally true with some of their cars and for others its not. like an a8 is just a big pimp car for rich people who want something luxurious. but then with the s4, rs4, rs6, all those cars are ment for performance, but they still can be somewhat comfortable.

but what do you think subaru's are ment for? think about it, the outback, baja, forrester, all those arent meant for performance either. only the wrx, and sti are meant for perfromance. while audi has the s4, rs4, s6, rs6, s8, all those are meant for performance and some like the s8 are comfortable while performing better than like 90% of sports cars. so its fast when you want it and comfortable when you want it.

and alot of people say that the audi owners in their town are just rich bastards pretty much, well in my town i only see a4 and a6's and thats pretty much it, the only people who drive the faster/nicer audi's are cool and care alot more about performance than other stuff. but i see subaru's everywhere! i see probably 3 sti's a day and just as many wrx's, while i see an s4 like once every two weeks.

and my EXPERIENCE with audi has also been alot better, when i was deciding between a wrx and a 2000 s4, i drove like 7 of each. and pretty much every wrx i drove had a problem. pretty much every one had something broken in the inside like a cupholder or something, everything is poorly made and just seems cheap, one shook like crazy all the time, another had tranny problems, and one for some reason seemed wayyy under powered. while with the s4's only one had a bad clutch and that was it, no other ones had any problems.

Another thing is my friend had an allroad, and one night up in the mountains it snowed like 2 feet in a couple hours, so pretty much everyone on the pass was stuck, but my buddy in his allroad seriosly never got stuck once and had no problems, he was weaving in and out of stuck suv's, SUBARU'S and everything, he was pretty much the only car that was actually moving. and now he has an 05? outback xt, and he even admits it is nowhere close to being as good in the snow and dirt and all that as the audi. and they have similar power, weight, performance, ride height, and everything, so there is pretty much no reason the audi is so much better except that it has a better awd system.

and what you are saying about subaru awd systems being able to switch power to the rear more when you want it and all that is ONLY on the sti, other than that there is no reason they could be better than audi's. and audi is now coming out with a newer awd system that is very similar and most likely alot better that they will have on their sports cars. plus audi has won so many more rally championships than subaru, and audi beat everyone soooo easy too.

i dont know why audi awd would be better than subaru, mabye if i researched alot i could find out why.

the only reason i could think of is if audi's awd was nicer made or used nicer materials. or ive heard subaru's awd is more electronic and and audi's is more mechanical, and that would pretty much explain it.

Ok, well i don't know a WHOLE lot about cars but i'll do my best here. The Audi AWD system is constantly monitored by a traction system which senses if a wheel loses traction. If it senses a wheel, for example the rear right wheel spinning out, say, on ice. it will decrease engine power to that wheel.

Another thing is to reduce skidding out w/ the AWD system, when you accelerate from a stop (it may be from any speed but i'm not sure), the engine takes away power from the front wheels.

I don't know much about how they work or anything, i just know my car has that and it seems to work like a charm. I know exactly what you mean by passing all the stopped cars.

Plus, everyone ignore this kid, i've got word that he doesn't even have a car.
