Subaru Mods

All I'm trying to say is that my car stock is still a lot better than most cars around the price range. I don't get why you are freaking out over this shit. The car is fairly new and it takes a while to raise up money for mods. But carbon fiber sti scoop, 06 wrx struts, tein springs, cobb ap, greddy 3" mid pipe, turbo xs rfl 3" axelback, rally flaps, and cobb sf intake is not a bad start to making it a high performance car. Not to mention it'll also has symmetrical awd. Please explain the mods on your sti, I'd love to hear.

Hmm, I've never had to explain myself regarding mods. Umm...I added mods because I wanted a little extra power/better handling/better throttle response. Isn't that why most people do it?

well that also tops my list of the most stupid things I've heard all week. I didn't say the neon was a cool car. I say that no matter what you do to it, all you'll ever get is a fart can. I'm saying that any performance vehicle shouldn't be under mined with a loud exhaust, spoiler and fancy rims. Dosn't make the car any faster. doesn't add any hp, torque, or anything. Just turns it into a fart can.

hmmmmm..... maybe I wasn't talking about your car. maybe I haven't even seen your car. Nor do I care either. Do what ever you want to your car. Doesn't change the fact that trying to make a crap car cool again doesn't work. Obviously you know little about high performance cars or how to mod anything. copy and pasted

shelby gt500. 5 .0 ltr, with f1 super car tire that come stock with the car. don't need a new muffle or anything to get the rich rumble sound. By the way for anyone that cares or has a gt500, you may know that there wa only one tire the fit the stock rim and it was from goodrich. Stock tire was rated for very low miles and too soft for normal driving on the road and wore too quickly. Michelin( can't remember how to spell it) just produced a few month ago a better high performance tire that fits the stick rims. Rated for about 30,000 miles. Still a high performance tire though. I believe it's called the super sport or something along the lines. Obviously I know nothing about high performance cars and modding. Can you see I was sarcastic there.

welp since the bottom half of subarus suck dick, sti/regular impreza/fxt/whatever..... you should probably go with this first.

then pretty much anything you wanted to do after is possible.

And just to make myself clear. Ther is no way your racing stage 2 rally at 16yrs. A cars performance is based on handling, torque, hp, and the driver.

Haha everyone is taking this out of hand.. I bought a car and spend a little side money modding it. I realize that there are plenty of Subaru haters out there. However there are a lot of people who enjoy subarus and modding them, which is why I made this thread.

lol, no to what?

if you arguing with me on the strength of the lower half of that motor you are a fucking idiot and know nothing about subarus/jap cars in general.

2nd that. Internals on subbies suck the big one. Well known issues for ring land explosions and rod knock.

cheap cast internals on subaru is lol.

lol, no.

JK kids need to stop thinking subbies are the best cars ever! they are really fun though. just sayin, you build the lower end in one of those 2.5s and you will have a nice fuckin ride for a long time and you can turn the boosties up.

we've had this argument like 6 times in the past 3 years i think. but this kid does not need to be messing with his internals if he's going for "sound/looks". and for the record, subaru internals are just fine. plenty of stock motors making it to 250k + and plenty of moded ones making it 200k and so on.

Everyone starts somewhere. The kids only 16, so obviously he dosent need to have 450 hp right off the bat. I dont see why your hating because it has the exact same engine as the STi and the turbo from a WRX. The FXT is a very capable vehicle.

Thats just a silly thing to say. Your suspension isn't ready. Lowering springs are not performance per say. Especially Tien. You don't have a dp. You don't have an intake. Your forester is rocking the td04 which is a great little turbo spools really quick but doesn't hold boost long. You get a bigger turbo your gonna need a better fuel pump and injectors and also a ebcs. Coilovers would be better then wrx/sti struts.

As for whatever exhaust you got what's the point of 3" abe when everything else is 2" or 2.5"? Sure you go 3 inch all the the way back but your car still isn't breathing better. You rushing all that air out and working with a stock intake that you probably haven't even put a better air filter on.

I think you know very little about what your doing and what it's doing to your car but you gotta start somewhere.

lol this. quit hating on the poor kid. he has a pretty fucking sweet car for being 16. and knows much more than I did when I was 16. I wish I had more mechanical knowledge.

Very true. However it costs like 1200 to run a Downpipe because you need a tune with it.. Hence why I am going piece by piece. Eventually I will have a full 3" exhaust.

Keep in mind while you read this post that I love my 05 wrx but...

WRX and STI engines do need mods to handle hp way over stock

WRXs had very weak trannys... I don't know which transmission your car has but if it is the same 5spd the wrx has it sucks...bad and you need to realize your car isn't quite high performance and baby that transmission if it is the same as a wrx tranny or you will be kicking yourself when you blow it up

Audi has an arguably better AWD system. Many think they do. I have never driven one but they may very well be better. Mitsubishi also has a very nice AWD system and skylines are something to consider as well. Also your AWD system is not as good as the stis when you think about performance... no adjustable diff... I don't have one either one of the many reasons an sti is better than my car even though I make the similar power right now.

You need to realize your car is hardly even a sleeper. It may look a little slower than it is but you won't surprise a car enthusiast until you are doubling the stock hp

Honestly I really hope a lightly modded civic si destroys you in a little stoplight race to kind of put you in your place.

On a happy note glad you got the car and im glad you are excited about it just keep in mind you bought a turbo suv not a track car or a rally car and you will love it. Just need to learn your place so you don't get embarrassed in the future.

This... The wrx transmissions are very weak, I have an 02 wrx and i baby the hell out of it.. However, i believe the FXT has the 6 speed manual which would be out of the STi.. unless his is the auto, which i have no idea about..

except that hp doesn't affect a tranny in the slightest...tq does... but any who if it is the same as a wrx transmission you shouldn't go over 320-350wtq if you are daily driving it. Of course it may never break but most likely you are pushing your luck going over that.

Well I guess it's because I drive in Beacon Hill, which is ALL steep steep hills.. So it was a bitch haha I've done it with a standard and it was not fun believe me haha. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a manual but not if I drive under those conditions a lot.

Tq is the average calculation of horsepower over time soooo really HP does have something to do with trannys breaking :)

beacon hill isn't even a square mile..unless youre a paper boy you shouldnt be complaining about an area that has about a dozen streets..

Very true, but when you drive through that like every other day, it gets annoying. And I live in an extremely hilly area (Worcester) which is even worse than Beacon Hill.
