Stretching?

How many of you guys stretch? I rarely do but I've been feeling particularly tight the past couple of times I've been skiing. I also have difficulty getting some grabs that require true tip or tail.

If you do stretch what do you guys stretch and how? Also when do you stretch? Before, After, at Night?

you should stretch everything before, like literally as much as possible and after stretch whats sore, not just for skiing but for everything athletic that you do

I normally like stretch my hamstrings do a few squats and run in place for like 10 seconds and then I'm usually good

stretching should be considered not as a warm up, but as an activity. one stretch session 5 minutes before you start skiing isn't going to loosen you up enough to prevent injury if you fall badly

i stretch all day i usually wake stretch before i leave to ski at the lodge i stretch and i usually mess around on the lift and pull my tips towards stretches all of my leg and at night but if i dont stretch i get fucked over

mostly lie on my back and do stretches my physio told me. bring one leg up, cross legs, both legs up, both legs to the side, feet together, splits, touch your toes, calf stretches, ham stretches, lean into a doorway and cross my legs, reach for the sky, etc

If i dont stretch it for a while (most of the year) to get my quads back into stretchy mode i put a tennis ball/rolling pin under my leg (calf, quad, anywhere) and lie on it. it hurts at first but it gets the deep tissue stretched out a lot faster than conventional stretches.

Before skiing and before bed everyday!

Stretch atleast 2 mins or more, if not you wont stretch out real good, and it wont count.

static stretching makes you more likely to get injured. dynamic stretching is where it's at. i stretch my full range of motion in my legs, then take a few warm up laps in the park.

Sometimes I'll quickly stretch my legs, back neck, and arms. But that's only sometimes, not every time, although I should every time...

NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!

DO NOT DO STAGNANT STRETCHES BEFORE SKIING!!!

While it will make you more flexible over time, it will actually make you tighter for the following couple of hours. Do Things like the karioke (sp?) before you put on your boots, high knees, and leg claps. These will get you loose with out making you tense. Do stagnant stretches the night before and then do warm up strecthces the day of.

Real talk.

Dont do stagnant strecthes before you ski!

i believe it actually makes you looser and your muscles weaker for a couple hours, which is why you're more likely to get injured. making your muscles looser means it takes less force to overextend them, and that's when injuries happen. dont static stretch before, do what he says ^^^ dynamic stretching is the way to go

i was thinking about this today, i think i might start doing this before i go hit the park, it isn't going to prevent injury but it might help if your a little looser

This is what I usually do, because from what I've gathered static stretching before activity can be harmful/ not as affective.

Do a good warm up run, then pop out out at the top and do a few dynamic stretches (leg swings, arm swings, walking toe touches, pulling foot to back for 3 sec, etc.) jump around and get loose, then go shred! Afterwards I come chill at home and do a lot of static (non moving stretching) while watching TV mixed in with some dat downward dog - warrior pose. then hot tub time! feelsgoodman

exactly, static stretching beyond that of the range of motion of activity actually makes you more prone to injury and muscle tears as the sarcomere is lengthened and maximum muscle force is limited. So dynamics like leg kicks are the way to go. But after skiing and a routine static stretch are the key to a long injury free season.

do it today i don't and thrashed my shoulders, i bet if u was loose it wouldn't have happened
