STOWE 10/11

Dang looks pretty fun, fuck not being able to ski this season, or any features at all in my future for that matter haha.

Gotta post up on them jumps at some point and get shoooottsss.

either down rail or dfd then theres the cannon setup real weird on the first deck. at the bottom are the rainbow and flat stowe wood box. honestly it seems like the same lineup as last year, atleast right now, different area of the trail I guess though.

still so early on everybody. those jumps look good for getting your jumping feet back under you. wouldn't want to get hurt early on hitting big jumps and not be able to ride any trees this year. plus even without northslope, stowe has been a blast and now it will be even better. plus the lifties are great this year, but patrol sucks.

I didn't realize until recently that your injuries were as bad as they are. Here's to a speedy recovery brotha! Blatt works wonders!

wayyy poppy. i kept overshooting the first jump. But if you blow the first one you can't really hit second. Third is possible though.

super fun today. You have to book it into the jumpline from the down rail if you wanna hit all three. Bummed that i cant go tommrow.

i didnt hit the jumps today because of the wind and ice but the setup looks kinda strange. how does it flow and is there enough speed to hit the rails in the beginning and the jumps?

its been snowing all day but its getting blown around alot so its like an inch or two of snow on ice on most of the trails. just ski the sides

aww, jumps are a bit smaller than last year. Lets make those wedges bigger and get some more hang time! Still lovin the new set up, deep landings, and super wide lips

what are the 4 new features they added to north slope? I'm headin to philly for a few days so unfortunately I wont be able to hit it up.

theres 3 jumps on each mound of snow. a super little (used to be kinda separate last year)medium, and a big set. then next to the down rail there is a down box

cannon rail on the first jump is a failure....set it up as a down tube and a flat tube for the win, such a trickable feature and it can be set up different than it has been to optimize fun levels

trudat. straightup its a waste of space. youve gotta charge to even make it to the landing. it should be atleast setup higher so you can get some amplitude like last year.

Dear MMWA,

I am writing in regards to the MMWA freestyle

ski athletes that ski up at Stowe. I am only twenty years old but I

started skiing at the age of 4, started snowboarding at 12 and have been

on the hill my whole life. I have traveled the world skiing different

resorts and spend my summers in Hood. I have seen my fair share of

groups and people on the hill but never have I seen a group so

disrespectful and rude as the MMWA freestyle skiers. All this group does

is hike a feature in the park and for some reason they seem to think

that they are allowed to do whatever they please. The MMWA skiers are

always cutting people off and are a huge safety hazard on the hill.

Today they were hiking the down rail on North Slope and they just left

their jackets and skis all over the place. After they were finished

"training" on the down rail, they moved to the last flat box on North

Slope. To get speed for this box the MMWA skiers dropped in from the

third jumps landing. I was almost certain that a huge collision was

going to occur every time I hit the third jump. Just because these kids

parents can afford to spend over 14,000 dollars to send their kids to

ski school, doesn't mean that they own the hill. I don't know much about

coaching and competitions but something needs to change in regards to

the way these kids ski and also view the sport. Hiking the flat box all

day is not fucking skiing. We are all given the gift of riding Stowe and

the best terrain in the east and all these kids want to ski on is rails

and boxes? Get a fucking clue and get out of the park. But on a serious

note I hope these issues are addressed and straightened out because I

have never seen such ignorant, selfish behavior on the hill in my life. But anyways I am just grateful to shred another day...

dont pull the whole soul skiing shit on me. i got to mmwa and we hike for a choice we take advantage of being able to learn and progress in stowes parks. as for the flat box b elow the jump, it is an odd place to hike but we're not trying to get in your way and we were not. i think i saw one person ski down the side and almost hit someone but that is it. when we were hiking the down rail out shit was not all over the place it was all on the side and out of peoples way. anyone is allowed to hike the park and it is our choice i dont understand how it is rude.

kindly reconsider the previous statements. we dont think we fucking own the hill were all grateful to be able to attend

Wes

dude,

1st I'm pretty sure you snowboard!

2nd All my athletes were hiking up on the side of the jump, not the middle

3rd This sport is all about FUN

4th If you the guy that starts super high up and flys in then speed checks about 10 times then your retarded

in fact why don't u just come talk to me on the Hill tomorrow !!!!!!

Unfortunately for you, you're definitely in the wrong here. The MMWA coaches are extremely experienced in terrain parks and are actually usually the voice of reason, telling kids not to stop on landings, to look uphill before they drop if they're in the middle of the park, etc etc. It's pretty ridiculous that you're hating on hiking rails when the huge majority of this site does it all the time.

Since you admit that you don't know anything about training or competing, I again think it's pretty ridiculous that you think you can call people out. Maybe you should get a fucking clue and stay out of the park if you're that overwhelmed by a few kids hiking.

Yes, Stowe has the best terrain in the east... but guess what we've had a few significant rain storms and there isn't anything off piste that is skiable on the entire mountain, I would think you'd understand that since you're so well versed in skiing, snowboarding, and mountain lifestyle with your worldly travels and Mt. Hood summers. But you're right it makes sense to give someone shit for spending a lot of money on school when you yourself admit to traveling all over the world to ski (wait sorry I mean snowboard)... yup, that makes so much sense.

for this response i am definitely not going to let campbell use my toilet paper next summer. and im defintely not the most versed on skiing and snowboarding, i just like cruising around, enjoying the gift of stowe. but anyways stowe was fun today and should continually get better.

Agreed....i'm in florida and this is my only insight into whats going on back north, thankfully i'm roadtripping back tomorrow and the water is getting cold again back home. Any fresh snow?

they are putting all the effort into the f'in half pipe it seems. like really its the east coast, they might need it for their stupid comps that no one does, but tyro needs to get uppp

yeah i think your spot on. they probably have a usasa halfpipe comp scheduled that they need to get it up for. i think pipe has priority over tyro for sure, i wish it was the other way around too.

lol at the ski school stuff. Ben is legit for sure and def knows what he is doing. Most of the kids in the program are legit too and they (for the most part) obey the rules of the park. Everytime I dropped in I always saw whoever was ready to go from their group look up the hill first.
That said, FORGET THE PIPE it's always a death pit anyway. Tyro would be legit, but honestly we just don't have the weather for a big park.
Have faith in Kurt guys he does know what he is doing and has YEARS AND YEARS of experience and professional training to back that (minus devoting so much time to the pipe haha).
North was super legit last time I was there and I look forward to going again this weekend.
Has the weather completely destroyed things? Or is it all holding up nice?

its holding up pretty nicely. jumps are fine, the first one still lofts me way too far haha. i really think the cannon should be moved or changed aroun. just seems pointless to me.

I'm alright with the pipe opening before tyro. The pipe is definitely a big pull for a certain type of gaper, and I'd rather endure a week without tyro then have to deal with a week of gapers in tyro.

the cannon should be moved to the last hump at the end past the rainbow and the flat box. itd be cool as a kinda mellow up to step over the hump. that would be the best run...

agree to disagree...the past 2 seasons that tube has been a canon....we should switch it to a mellow down or flat tube for maximum trickability
