Stevens Pass 2012-2013

Can someone explain to me what it is about one day of skiing on mt hood that is worth a 10 hour drive? I, for the life of me, can't.

On another note:

One day, I will ride in upon my flying saucer shaped like a ten gallon hat to dispense whiskey and Montanan wisdom upon the pathetic passive-aggressive pukes of the Pacifist North Wet.
Can't wait to visit Stevens this year.

Something I just realized: Mountain High (Steven's sister resort) is now offering a free skiing at Stevens with a Mountain High pass. I didn't really think that would happen, and I don't know if it's unlimited or how you'd go about getting your Mountain High pass if you're in WA.
The kicker is that a Mountain High Pass costs $349. For the season.
So if the loophole is open, and if you can use a Mtn High season pass any day at Stevens, as much as you like, then you could pick one up and then just ski Stevens while saving $200-$300.http://www.mthigh.com/season-pass-s...tm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=snowboarder_mag

College Pass bro. And it still costs less. Plus, who in here actually has a legitimate reason to ski Mountain High for more than five days other than because it's free?

Yes it's open. I should say I'm assuming it's not direct to lift, because operationally I don't see SP handing out a pass to anybody with a mt high pass and say 'here ya go' for the rest of the season.

once that gets worked out Ill let yall know

Interesting.
Personally, I'm not buying a pass anywhere this winter. Sinking the money into touring gear.
But I thought it an interesting bridge between the two. The markets are both quite local, and the potential crossover traffic doesn't seem like much. Maybe that's why they're doing it. Who knows.

I have a better theory. Marketing people got stoned before the meeting.

Oh and you are soooo core not buying a pass. I thought skier_boy26 was core with his arc'teryx dynafits and custom topsheet vogue brand skis, but man, you're just all about being in tune with nature and touring. Now if only I could find the vibram footwear equivalent of ski gear, id be rich~

don't forget Bookboy here has been known to pull organic produce, granola, and PBR out of his beard. That is pretty damn core, and intune with nature, and touring and whatever else those nutbags do.

I don't think I can compete, so I am just going to get a bunch of really core and intune with nature stickers, and put them on my beat to shit toyota truck, late model subaru, or vw.

I'm just trying to, you know, free my mind and stuff.
In the end, I'll probably drive more, use sleds enough, and weasel tickets to make my carbon footprint bigger than any Vibram sole they make.

Also I made my schedule so I don't have classes Friday Saturday or Sunday. I'll be going up to the pass pretty much every weekend from Seattle. If anyone needs a ride hit me up

i am moving to seattle next month. is stevens the closest to the downtown area? ive been trying to do some research but figured you guys would have some good personal experience about the area...

also i have a car if anyone wants to rideshare sometime

Stevens isint the closest, but everybody in this thread's opinion it is the best for the drive. Its about 1.5-1.75 hours from the downtown area vs snoqualmie which is about 45 mins or so and crystal which is about 2 hours and baker which is about 2.5 hours. (people can correct me, just a guess)

crystal - You have to pass a background check and proof of income to ski there

snoq - If you like skiing rails and dont mind crowded as balls pow days this is a fine choice (Make sure you have a high tolerance for retards)

stevens - good for everything, but not the absolute best for any one aspect, my favorite

baker - too far away, look at the post history of mt baker, would you really want to ski with people like that? Also it asploded

Loup loup - the shit, hands down the best resort in washington~

Scott is pretty much right on this one. Question right now is: who has the best car for snow? And I think mine is probably the best because it has a large ON3P diecut on the back window. Thus it has rocker, meaning it can handle the deep stuff.

i rape everything that moves (and things that dont move) so dont come to baker and try to ski with me. im also a nazi and i have a speech impediment that requires me to yell at the top of my lungs whenever i must speak.

snqualmie pros-not far away, cheap passes and night skiing and good park. cons-snow sucks and weather sucks. stevens pros-still fairly cheap can get good snow. good park a lot of good terrain and still close to seattle. cons-doesn't get a ton of powder days. only sometimes. crystal pros-weather can be good. snow can be good. a lot of events. its huge. cons- really expensive. crowded. shitty park. baker (my fav) pros-awesome snow. never crowded. awesome bc. awesome terrain. awesome ski patrol. cons-really long drive. not usually sunny. too much snow :)

I have my Xterra which has done great in the snow for two solid winters. I am trying to pick up a VW westfalia for some weekend camp sessions. They sleep 4 comfortably and I'm going to culinary school so no doubt the food will be great since westy's have propane stoves it shall be a great time
