Because when you turn 17/18 however old you are, you are so much more mature.

My maturity peaked at 9 or 10, it's been going down or holding constant since. From what I have observed, boys maturity peaks between 9 and 12, then they discover girls, and it starts to head down hill. By the time they get to their second year out of highschool it starts to level off (this can ofcourse be put off by joining a frat or business school). Well it levels off, and may, for some, start a steady but slow incline. Then you hit 65 and it takes a fucking nose dive into the deep end.

Of course your perceived maturity level is like a bell curve, and it is not untill you reach retirement age that the twO curves intersect.

Whats up with the weekday crowds? seems like 2 or 3 years ago a powder day on a tuseday would be a ghost town, and now the lots are filling up?

Checking the website to damn hard for ya?

Second Season is April 16 through May 6th, weekends, possibly longer depending on snow and skier visits. Lifts are hogs, sky and 7th.

Second Season Pass is $100, daily tickets are $40, all season passes are good through April 15.

If you renew your pass for next year you get second season tossed in.

Scott~ and I will need to confir.

id be pissed if i was a passholder. stoked on it being cheaper though, hopefully get up to stevens a little more.

who says i can afford it now? I bought an 11/12 season pass, the season is not over until the lifts stop spinning for the summer, forcing people to pay extra is a dick move

If they're pulling this shit, they fucking better stay open at least another two weekends beyond the 6th. Or the discount on next years passes had better be down pretty damn near $300.

True, I'm not saying its not greedy of Stevens, I'm just offering a solution, because there's not much we can do about it.

Calling it a "Second Season" is obviously just a way for them to make more money.

Yeah, their Facebook status is getting raped. And I am more than happy to join in. Sure, it's all legal, but it's incredibly shifty and dishonest. The more bad PR we spread, the more impact we can have.

Crystal and hood do the same thing. I dont like it but ill take what i can get. On annother note the park is insiane right now. the lack of fetures in mind blowing. Why do we even have a park? This is dumb.

But in all serouisness its the tits. LOVING it

how is it shifty and dishonest? It's been known for a long time that the pass closes around april 16th or so. They probably did not expect this in the budget to extend the season (guessing) so they have to charge to make sure they can operate. I'm also guessing that now that they are able to stay open longer the season pass at the beginning of the years will also work for this, however might see an increase in pass price.

Timberline does the same thing in the summer for the Hood pass holders...

Both Crystal and Hood are charging extra for the spring pass, both Hood's and Crystal's season extends longer than three weekends. Saying there might be something to that. Three weekends does not, in my opinion, constitute a 'second' season. If Stevens was going to state that they would be open through Memorial Day, I think you would find less resentment.

Alpental, where the season will extend through May 6th, does not charge extra.

They've stayed open longer... Two years ago they closed a week later (25th or so). That was my first time at Stevens ever. Also, at Timberline and Crystal, the passes are advertised to have that structure from the beginning of the season. This "second season" thing is what feels the most fishy, though. It just seems like a lame justification for making people pay more.

I'm sure it's all perfectly legal, but it makes me sad, since it seems to show a shift towards a big resort style business model. I still think of this place as a locals' mountain, but this goes in the opposite direction.

Hopefully, you're right, and they just did an awful job of presenting it. But until I know that for a fact, I'm going to feel this way.

Timberline does the same for the summer. Not spring. Season pass holders for the winter get through May 27th (28th?). Their spring pass goes from march 5th-May 27/28. After that you have to buy a summer pass. VERY different. Summer is a completely different season. And is very unique. I don't think many people will complain that their $400 pass doesn't last year round. That would for sure put the resort out of business.

With stevens we are talking a couple extra weekends. Not another several months.

i'm sad because i'm probably not gonna buy a seasons pass next year, so i don't get the added benefit from renewing now. 100 dollars for 3 weeks doesn't seem completely worth it for a new pass

Yeah not sure ill be at Stevens next year, but I would buy the $100 pass if they guaranteed it would last through mid june. I have a tough time believing they wont be able to operate through june 15th at least~

Agreed. Gonna be forced to be headed to Hood after April 16th. This whole "second season" thing seems a bit like some bullshit to me. Making people pay $100 for 3 weekends of skiing when they paid for a 11/12 pass just doesn't add up.

Scott, you should barrow one of Billy's many guns. Go to the head office at stevens and show them who's boss. Thanks in advance, BASED RILEY.

Done halfway.
Spring passes should start at the beginning of March. That gets folks who like to ski, but didn't pick up a pass for that year. Bit of cash to finish the year with, which could then pay for a short extended season. But it looks like they waited to make the call, and the results are pretty obvious.

Did anyone else notice how pretty much all the passes except college ones have gone up ~$100? They're $100 more in both the spring and until Oct 31 sales. I wonder why that is... It's more than just inflation.
