Stevens Pass 2010-2011

So cold today, couldent get speed for anything even with waxed pipecleaners, but Park is set up really nice.

I only skied pow on wednesday and thursday with all the fresh, its pretty skied out now, even with some short hikes, but after giving the park 3 runs today i just laped grace and skied pow with park skis.

snow at very cold temps generates more friction. it is so cold that the extremely thin liquidation that occurs from a ski on the snow surface can't happen, so you get even more drag. Cold ass snow is basically just millions of sharp little crystals slowing your shit down. Also the groomed right now is groomed fresh, so the snow is comprised of sharper crystals, and there is more air in the snow, consequently causing more friction. That is partially why the park is slow. Should be slightly faster tomorrow even though it'll still be wicked cold.

Two things:

1. The whole of the rail garden has been redone, because

2. we're having the Disco Inferno tomorrow night! 5-9pm, free-entry jam format contest with a disco theme and some cool prizes for rad moves and costumes. Come check it out.

I will be up there today with Olivia and Nick and then Justin once he gets off of work for the Disco Inferno, baby.

Skied park and pow today. Canon rail could use a steeper landing, and the first two jumps definitely need to be bigger but I know that's just because the new snow made them smaller. Loving that up rail though, super smooth.

I'll be heading up at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning... staying the night in the RV lot tomorrow night. Looks like we're going to get dumped on Sunday night. Anyone interested in a newschooler 1v1, no holds barred race down the backcountry run of your choosing on Sunday? I will be taking challengers all day =D

We saw a pretty big natural avy that could have easily buried you/taken you for a nasty ride through trees and over rocks above alpine lake. Probably a 2 ft crown or so. Be careful where you go

gonna be skiing pow tomorrow on centermounted park skis.... my poor one lifes are getting some r&r at the shop after ramming into a couple of rocks

natural stuff sliding a lot.

we set off a few slabs out sledding today. Gonna be gnar out for a little while, atleast until these layers consolidate a bit.

would it be a bad idea to go up cowboy tomorrow with no avi gear and little knowledge of avalanches. Also little knowledge of cowboy ridge.

nah i'd wait. People are hiking, but things are sliding. If you go tomorrow (Monday), there should be very little need to hike; shit will be fresh all over.

yeah i was gonna go either tomorrow or tuesday. IIMMM SSOOOO EXCCIITTEDDD. o wait... i have park skis.... lol. i want some bents.

Today was deep. Hot lapped grace all day and it was epic, it was literally chest deep in spots. It was so good im not even mad I can't go tomorrow.

i didnt hit the regular cliff tho, there was a bomb hole in it, so i went off to the side of it (last run of the day too)

Anybody know when spring passes go on sale? I would assume March 1st as always, but I haven't seen any marketing of them...

And thomas, why not?
