and its still 5 feet of downhill and 1000 ft of flats. Yea big whoop, its flat here, but I got REAL FUCKING SKIING that much closer. Fuck boat.thats right, im hating steamboat. lets fight.

Rockin no poles sure does suck balls with this much snow out here eh? Just like gapin around when you were 6 years old
 
ski lines that are about 10 turns long. Maybe if you had a real job on the mountain and knew just how fucked up that place is, and why I really got the hell out of there, I'd respect you a bit, but instead, you are just some ticket office slacker. But no, you think I'm jus some stuck up park crew bitch who doesnt know anything and hasnt been there at least twice as long as you. Maybe in 2-3 years boat will be sweet, but as of now, its still shit no matter how much snow you throw at it. I got sick of waiting 4 years for it to get better, and it only got worse this year.
 
FWIW I was pretty tanked when I wrote that but....

I no longer "slack" in the ticket office, and I still currently work for the company in F&B....I work a night job and ski everyday, and that's why I'm not certain why you're so down on Steamboat. There are sick lines all over the mountain, granted not super gnarly steep ass pitch, but long fucking runs where you can make more than 10 turns dude, gimme a fucking break. You're hating on knee deep pow from the top of Sundown to the bottom? Or the top of Storm Peak to the bottom of that lift? Those are some long ass runs man. Do you not like skiing pow or something? Not to mention out of bounds...

In terms of the park, I totally agree with you...not even gonna lie. The park is weaker this year than any of my 4 previous years. No good booters, not a whole lot of rail selection (until a couple days ago, I guess) and the huge fucking boardercross course right in the middle. Bart and a bunch of the other park crew regulars left, so obviously shit hit the fan at some point and it shows. I had high hopes for the park this year because of the new grooming crew, or new design team or whatever, but frankly it has been lame so far. But you know what, we've gotten a shit-ton of snow this year, so it doesnt concern me as much as it would.

I work/play in park all the time. I have worked and pushed so hard every year to get the park sweeter. Had epic plans for this year, and bam, smack in the face. I basically got a "fuck you" for 4 years of busting my ass. So I say "fuck you" back to em, and left. Fucked over my season staying as long as I did this season....have had no practice because boat only has a mini park, so wasnt able to compete in any of the bigger comps. Season got trashed last year due to shitty jump building, because everyone has their fucking head up their ass and don't listen to people who KNOW how to hit jumps, HOW they should look, and what can/can't be done.

Snow in boat great. Not hating on the snow, hating on the boat. Skiing the same runs for 5 years got pretty damn boring. Became more so about what I can do while skiing, not where I can ski, thus park. New stuff, not the same shit over and over. I'll hit up pow when I'm too beat up to hit park, thats what its for.
 
i think its safe to say you just raped the boat and all their dignity along with it, but its sweet because now you work at breck and thats where i ride. yay!
 
battleship box, up bar or c rail choice of down rail and up

rail or 2 jump line. On other side of lift is 3 jump line, pipe and

quarter. then theres s box or rainbow box below those, then flt down

box or a down bar
 
boat was siiicccckkk nasty while i was there. only complaint i have is that fucking traverse to the mini park. (i suck at park so thats where i was at lmao) but it took forever to pole over there. they should either steepen the traverse or throw a towrope up in there.

who did i see with the rodeo 5 to switch 9s on the 2 jump line?

honestly last time I Was there, I rode the other lifts and didnt get scanned once. all about timing. sneak on, hang out at upper mountain, then hit up the bashor.

And also whats the deal with pushing the jumps together on the bigger line? Frankly, I'm kind of a sissy and both of the smaller jumps (the right hand of the the two) were perfect for me.....now that they are pushed together and bigger/sketchier, I hate it. Totally wrecked my park flow for the remainder of the year
 
I never really hit the second one anyway, but i wish they'd get them finished and let them be for the last bit of the season. That dfd box is in a bad spot and those mailbox rails >> why put them so close togethor?

Its so progressive that anyone from a beg - expert can learn and ride here safe

Too bad there arent new trail signs being put up this summer (and taken down after the mountain closed). I would come back up there to work that job :D haha.
 
word from all the terrain park cat drivers: no terrain park at all next year. everyone got laid off and there is going to be nothing, including the mavericks superpipe. straight from the three head park cat drivers.
 
i dont think i believe that.... the superpipe no matter how shitty it is is advertised so much. but then again it is steamboat.. they never cease to surprise me.
 
i hope this is just a rumor? they dont devote much to the park, but it seems highly unlikely they would scrap it all togethor, esp. the pipe after how much they market that thing. i really wanna know though cus i have to buy a pass soon and if this is true i wont be getting one here.
 
nice Inside info DFJ, interesting how this is going to play out, any rumors that howelsen will step up their park? It would be rad if they could turn half of it into pure terrain park, but of course that costs loads of money.
 
I'm not sure if this really makes sense... at all... any of this.

I believe that the groomers got laided off but that doesn't make sense, seeing as Chris Diamond said there was going to be a terrain park at a meeting two days ago. But then again he could just be full of shit and didn't want it leaked yet.

At the same time someone said that they market the superpipe alot... sorry but they don't. You may think so... but they don't...

Finally I can't remember off the top of my head... but I think the zaugg they bought a few years ago was 200k or something crazy. NOW if they sell the zaugg I'd be worried.

Either way... if your coming to Steamboat it shouldn't be for the park... it should be for the 'family friendly environment' TOTALLY JOKING... I hate that shit!
 
zaugg was 90k. whether or not the cats got laid off or quit doesnt really matter.I wouldnt be surprised if they did, the crew got sick of dealing with all that bullshit, and im sure heath and all of them are sick of it as well. They sure as hell dont work there to build just a playplace for kids.
