GO WATCH IT. I think it's out on Blu Ray now

I am actually quite in intrigued with this. Sounds like a good direction go with Star Wars, covering other back stories and developing other charecters. Making the "star wars" universe feel a lot larger and real. Like with what Lord of the Rings did, worked wonderfully

I just watched it on the plane a week ago. It was good other than it being stupid that she just figures out the force in 30 seconds just to be more convenient for the writers plot. Didnt mesh with the ogs at all on that.

Ill hop on the hype train closer to the actual release date, that being said I'm pretty excited for this movie

Who else was stoked to see Forest Whitaker in the trailer?

So stoked to see this movie.

Also interested in seeing what part Donnie Yen will play in the movie. From the teaser it looks like like he's using his martial arts training which has me pretty pumped.

While I agree with you 110% in the star wars case, as someone who has read the hobbit, lord of the rings 1-3 and the silmarillion, I think they could have done a whole lot better, but I guess they were trying to appeal to all ages, and not just nerds like me.

As someone who didn't read any of the books but loves those movies, and the whole world of the Lord of the Rings, I thought the hobbit movies were enjoyable. Not saying your wrong, and i've heard from others that the hobbit wasn't as liked by people who are more enthusiasts. I will agree tho there were parts that coulda been done a lot better...

I guess it looks pretty cool, but I wish they would've shown some of the actual gameplay, these live-action trailers are getting a bit ridiculous.

There was the expanded universe which was a great read. Lots of fun. But then to give the writers some freedom, they scrapped it and it's not cannon anymore. No biggie, these anthology films along with shows like the clone wars and rebels are also fun to watch. Plus a 2 hour movie is so much better than reading a book.

Yea! My thoughts exactly, I enjoy these little side stories that don't really have to go with the main plot. Not something where I care about every detail in the plot, but where I can just enjoy some cool Star Wars shit

I am so stoked to have new star wars movies well into my 20's. Also very excited to see Darth Vader straight up murdering people with zero emotion in Rogue One... Totally off topic but did anyone see Batman v. Superman? Thoughts?

Just so everyone knows.

This is an anthology film. It is canon, but it won't have any bearing on any of the current star wars films (that much). Rogue one is about how the rebels stole the plans for the death star and from my understanding once Rogue one ends then it will go straight into a new hope.

Anyways, how cool would it be that if suprme leader snoke ended up being someone from rogue one. If I was a screen writer I'd have it be that Ben Mendalsohn Grand Admiral was exiled from the empire after the plans were stolen under his watch, he then learned the ways of the force, but was disfigured in the process. Once the empire fell, since Ben already had respect within the empire he rose and so did the first order. I think that would be kinda cool to be honest, a way of connecting the anthology films to the main star war films. Anyways, I love reading fan theories, so what are yours? Or some good ones you've read?

That's dumb. You're stupid.

A 2 hour movie is easier than a book. No movie can match the character development and depth of thought a great book can, IMO.

The hobbit movies were an abomination, plain simple truth. fuck those things

True story, however there is a version where some guy edited all three movies into one. He cut out a ton of the crap and cut it down to one 3-ish hour movie. If you have to watch The Hobbit, that's the one to watch.

Saw Rogue One last night. And it was pretty fun to watch. Didn't feel like a star wars movie, but then again it did. Either way I'm definetly seeing it again

TBH I actually really liked it. I thought the scene where the tease the rest of the Justice League members was pretty cool and the trailer for that movie looks pretty sick IMO. I also snuck in the theatre for free and had extremely low expectations going in because of all the negative reviews but I thought it was a decent flick

It probably didn't feel like a starwars movie because there was no one you know in it (Main characters)

Force awakens starts off with references to Luke which makes it familiar

The Phantom Menace has R2 and Obi-Wan right off the bat which makes it familiar

I haven't seen it yet but thats what I'm guessing. Really excited to go see it though

Ending is so good. Overall, definitely not mad at that. My biggest complaint is the cgi is pretty obvious on one particular character. He looked like he belonged in the Polar Express. Ha ha

SEMI SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU DON"T WANT TO KNOW WHY ROGUE ONE DOESNT FEEL LIKE A STAR WARS MOVIE BUT THEN AGAIN DOES

OKAY WE GOOOD?????

LAST CHANCE

They just did things differently in this movie. So there was no opening scrawl, and I understand that. When planets came up they'd do the kook thing and have the writing down in the bottom left corner. Like Jeda imperial controlled mining. But then again, they did things really well. They even nodded to a kids TV show and had the ghost from Star Wars Rebels in the background, Vaders home on Mustafar was everything I ever thought I wanted and more. The hint that Asoka Tano is still alive. It's really well though out. It was extremely well paced, the last act of the movie is amazing. Special effects were amazing, the subtle use of Vader is perfect. Over all it's a great movie, best star wars movie since Empire. It just took a while to get use to. Can't wait to see it again. I don't care that Disney is bending us over backwards to make a fuckton of money, I'm okay with it because they're making a great product

holy shit, they had a female lead character. Are you really that fucked up in your insecurities that every movie needs to have a white male lead? Felicity Jones is an award winning actress and is perfect as Gyn Erso. 73% of movies have a white male fucking lead. Fuck off with this bullshit fake narrative you idiots have somehow made up]

That "bullshit fake narrative" is from the writers themselves. Seems like it's "you idiots" that are unable to keep your "made up" social justice politics out of everything.

They certainly know their audience, guys that like to get bent over.

I mean, are you fucking shocked that the Empire is modeled after a Fascist and Authoritarian Regime (Nazis)? You'd be an idiot not to see the parallels. Hell, Lucas himself said StormTroopers were modeled after Nazis decades ago.

was not a fan they rally rushed it and didn't think that disney did that great of a job. that being said I probably won't see the new one

Look, I'm glad these movies play out nicely for the social justice crowd, but the truth is they're just not very good.

So the empire is modelled after Nazi's. George Lucas even referred to the empire as nazis in commentary in ESB. The uniforms are modelled after Nazi uniforms. Fucking hell. You fuckwits get so triggered over anything that isn't a white male. Fuck off.

so pumped. loved the movie. I was a little surprised at how dark it was but then again it makes sense. the ending gave me all the feels.

saw it with my pops today, super enjoyed it. my only complaint was

BIT OF A SPOILER

the triumphant music playing when the hammerhead corvette pushed the destroyer into the gate. at that point it had been a pretty human movie, the trumpets blaring as tons of people, imperial or not, died seemed a little out of place

Fuck the Nazis. Play the trumpets.

Again, looks like the only person triggered here is you. Face it, your new SJW Star Wars movies suck.

Look, it's perfectly clear that the empire is modeled more or less off the Nazis, it's been done for plenty of villains.

It's another entirely when the writers of the new Star Wars inject their own social justice politics into the movies. The writers clearly want that be the message, hence the main writer making it very clear that the empire is a "white supremacist" (I'm surprised he didn't say "white nationalist") organization only three days after the election. No reason for that other than to show the "diverse" rebels beating back the evil white man.

It's boring, and obvious. Like I said, only guys that like to get "bent over" take any enjoyment out of such things.

Keep giving your money to Disney, lemming.

Well The Force Awakens made just shy of a billion dollars in America. So estimating the average movie ticket in America is $8.61 that means roughly 105 million people saw The Force Awakens, surely not 104 million people are all SJW's otherwise well Trump wouldn't have won. I love destroying your logic. Keep trying tho buddy, it'll work out one day for you...

Honestly I really care for this movie. It was cool, it was a alright idea, but I constantly felt like I could really give a shit about the main character or anything else happening to anyone. She was made so standoffish I really couldn't find a reason to care for her. I found myself more torn up at the robots death than her fathers death, because the robot was better fucking developed than the main character.

the action scenes were awesome and probably some of the best Star Wars fights in my opinion, but really the plot and character development could have done so much better

Selling nostalgia goes a long way.

Episode 1 also made a similar amount of money, given the change in theater ticket prices since 1999.

And you forgot all the people who went to see it twice or more. How many times do you plan to see the new one?

It's sad to watch Disney dredge up this corpse and sell it to all of you.

haven't seen it yet, but probably will.. but a few comments before I do...

- none of the characters in the previews look like they have any real charisma, gravitas or authenticity

- stealing the death star plans and having a stormtrooper go AWOL (force awakens) were both essay ideas for high school English class for me. They have probably been explored 100'000s of times by people around the world prior to 2015

- Force Awakens was so fast-paced and the editing (and camera-work) so flashy and erratic that I feel like it was a traumatic event

- Revenge of the Sith (ep3) was great, hard to think none of the preexisting characters aren't appearing

- any Force philosophies or tie-ins with the other SW films or characters (besides the obvious death-star connection?)

wrong again. TPM made 770 million, (adjusted for inflation) TFA made 930 million. Is that similar money to you? We get it, you think Disney is this SJW corporation hell bent on having female or black protagonists. Just don't go see it, and turn a blind eye like you do with poverty, corruption, and climate change.

Face it fellas, the new Star Wars movies suck.

You're all about to be force fed one of these shitty movies every year or two for the next decade at least.
