Sponsoring

i dunno, 14s are kinda out of style right now. I'd suggest you try to go a little bigger.

i think to get sponsored you should do your tricks very easy.. no problem if you can´t spin 1080 or misty 9...

a other important aspect is to be good on the rails..

This thread is a joke, just not a very funny one. People are saying if you arn't good at rails you can't get sponsored, keep telling yourself that as you destroy your edges day in and day out. Also, you don't need to enter or even compete in comps to get sponsored, yeah I guess it's a way to get noticed but I know plenty of people that don't compete or slide rails or even ski park that get hooked up by being in the loop. These people ski with all the local badasses/pros and eventually through contacts and networking they get hooked up. Some people choose not to be sponsored and turn down opportunties just because they arn't that stoked on the product. You really have to ask yourself, why do I really want to get sponsored?

I'm personally nothing special at skiing and I would turn down most companies just because there are certain companies I like and those are the only skis I would like to ride on. I wouldn't use products I don't like just so I could tell people I'm sponsored. but if Head spy or atomic ever knocked on my door I would hop on in an instant.

Except shops in WF montana. They like to give the shaft like a black dude in prison eh?? haha, how's your snow been?

^not necessarily man. I know a bunch of people who really arent THAT good and they are hooked up in some way. I think you need to just meet the right people at the right time, send in some photos and videos to different companies and see what happens.

It is a good investment for a ski company to hook you up with a pair of skis or a jacket and some snowpants cause you are going to provide them with a tonne of free advertising.

are people gonna flame on me here? i am really broke but i love skiing here in colorado...i want to find maybe a ski sponsor... any chance of that?

I1 and can ski park reasonably well e.g 900's, 1080's and stuff like that but icampete as a moguls skier and it is so hard to get sponsored for bumps

See this is the view I love tht makes you "core". I love skiing, so I don't want to get sponsored because I ski for myself.

I love skiing, and you know what if I was sponsored I would ski everyday now, not like 4 days a weeki. And I would never have money problems for ski gear. Not wanting it is dumb. And does not make you a more core skiier.

we have a kid not sponsered at our hill and this is kinda how hard it is he has tons of tricks he can do and they all have style like he can 630 out of rail like a foot off the group and with our pipe that sucks he does 3 back to back flairs and lincoln 180 and all stuff and kills urban rail but he isnt sponsered

you have to be able to do good jumps and rails. You can't just be good at rails and not even be able to do a 7. Switch stuff and spinning both ways helps a lot too

exactly thats why I wanna get sponsored, I am making a video right now. and not because I wanna be some ski superstar its because skiing is my favorite thing in the world, it releives my stress, It makes me happy. And I can barely sit through the week of school, I think about skiing every second of the day. And getting sponsored or payed to ski means that I dont have to sit in a cubical dreaming about skiing all day. I would be living it. Living the dream. and fuck its been my dream ever since I was 8 years old. and I am NOT letting go...its on.

WILL SOMEONE SPANSER ME IF I ACT HOMOSEXUAL? I HEAR COMPANIES ARE TRYING TO DIVERSIFFY THEIR TEAMS!!!!!! I CAN DO 360 IRON CROSS AND LISTEN TO MADONNA!!!! AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!

I HIGHLY doubt that sending in a video of a 270 on/off, 7, and some other threes and stuff off cliffs will even get you a free T-shirt. There are kids that go to tahoe ten times better than that and come back cause its just to hard to get sponsored.

said it once. i will say it again...

it does not matter how good you are, cause there are are hundred of other groms just as good as you

it matters who you know, how you treat those people and what you can do to justify someone giving you skis

Factory/team sponsorships are not going to happen if your on this site wondering what you need to do....sorry but if your that far out of the loop your not getting there

local rep/shop sponsorships are common and easy to come by if your:

a) personable

b) knowledgable

c) bring something to the table (no not a six pack, but that may help)

d) you are willing to work for your gear (demos, filing time etc)

get to know your local shop OWNERS, coaches, reps, pros etc....get in good with these guys and they will help you out....

talk shit, try to act to cool or talk down to any of these guys and your done

unless you contact rossi they sponsor skiers that don't compete but they only take so many and you have to rip harder than anyone else

dude would a back be asier than a 7 off a cliff.... i wouldnt know i ski in ont but backs are real easy

backs are weird off cliffs because you have to make all your own pop and sometimes the lips of cliffs are soft and when you push down real hard to set your pop your skis just sink in and you are fucked. But if you stomp out the inrun it's not hard. But throwing one in the middle of an untracked line is 50x cooler than setting up a cliff for one.

very true...but spinning off of a non-packed cliff/rick is just as hard or harder...packed out drops or wind buffed cornices are fairly easy to spin off of...not really any different than a terrain park feature...but with deep snow, I find little lincoln loops easier. strgt backies are not that bad if the drop gives you engough time to bring it around without forcing it...

in all of skiing there is possibly no cooler feeling than seeing your landing while comming around on a big ]drop back flip..so much time in the air, you feel like superman...

hell yeah, I'm gonna hit up the diving boards some point this week because I wanna start tossing loops. I got fronts dailed up and I just started getting backs off clffs two weeks ago. but I think different cliffs call for different tricks so I need loops. cliffs that have a steep take off are good for darts, cliffs with pop are good for backs and I figure takeoffs that are angled to the side would be good for loops.

if you have backies down, then loops should be easy, find a nice overhanging cornice with a soft landing, drop your shoulder (kind of a cartwheel motion), bring your knees to your chext, grap and keep looking for the snow to come around again...once you see your landing, open up and stomp it

once i am so good that i drop outa school i will go for sponsorship... which will hopefully never happen... I just ski for da hell of it... and if you are 13... WHAT THE HELL? no you cant get sponsored unless you are Oscar Shirly

dude so many people are sponsored before 13. But thats mostly park skiers. I hope I can get sponsored...but thats a long shot cuz i probably wont if i cant spin 900s and land em

what is the best way top get sponcerd? I have been making a video for about 1 season now. I was thinking about sending the video to Armada,4 Front, soloman, rosignol, or scott poles. Any suggestions? I'm 14 years old and I'm about 5'6". This is also my 2 season skiing. I can do big 180's, 360 iron cross, and straight airs with any grab. I am also good at rails and can finally do kink rails. please help me out.

thats bullshit everyone that already skis in our sport has money, and the only way to get decently good to get sponsered in the first place is to have money so throw that idea away cause your parents have to send you up to the hills sometimes to keep you happy therefore they have money so you have money

if you're lucky you could get a pro deal (buy the product at what it costs the company to make it)

The whole idea of sponsoring people is that a company gives a person money or product (for free or at a discount) in return for advertising. So a sponsored skier should be able to make another skier (the consumer) want to buy the product of his or her sponsor. I think you have to do something that stands out and makes you special to be a good sponsored skier.

For example, if you ride at some place where everyone is really good and can do all 4 7's no problem than just being good, like every one else is not good enough, becuase you are not special; you dont stand out.

However, if you ski in an area where you are one of the only people who can spin past a five, then being able to do switch sevens and 270's on will be able to get you sponsored as an AM.

So I the best wasy to get sponsored is to do something slightly different from the rest of the pack. Learning a new axis is a good start, spining off of natural hits (building a in run a jump does not count, neather does packing the take off), or throwing 180's and 540's in a big line, intirely switch pipe runs. All of these things stand out and will get you noticed. Just doing what Tanner Hall did last year, does not cut it.
