Sponsoring

I have gone to 2 big mountain comps and 2 slopestyle/jam comps this season and have actually been surprised at the level of competition from roots-sponsored/aspiring AMs. The YGO colorado was dope, sick truckdriver cork 5s and style off everything, the Triple crown at Breck was same but 9s and 10s, The big mountain comps were different, A cork three closing a sick line would set someone up with a small sponsorship. A 7 off any cliff would podium you in both the Bridger Freeride and Lake Louise freeride. Bridger winner didn't even really land his big hit.

^ Yeah but you have to think that a 7 during your line is wicked progressive. I have yet to see that actually in a ski movie... well with the exception of Seth Morrison.

I really hope the kid with the 360 iron cross was kidding.

I don't think I'd even try to get sponsored unless plenty of switch, unnatty, inverts, rail tricks(presses, spins, switchups) were in my bag. When you are in control enough to do all 4 720's with style and with solid grabs or rotation patterns(corks, etc) then you can probably start thinking about actively trying to get sponsored.

until then, get to be friends with the important guys, throw DOWN in front of them, and eventually you'll get there if you are dedicated enough.

Yeah I'm a little better than the kid with the 360 now. Let me rephrase on my tricks:

360 off cliffs working on 5's

540 cork, straight, working on rodoes: in park

360 cork, bio: anywhere

getting to a 720 but I can't rotate fast enough (no park at crystal mountain I've only done this on my own crappy jumps)

I can't grab on these cuz I don't spin fast enough

waitr a bit and get more tricks. Im the same age and i can 7 and lincoln and im still not that great i think.

It really depends(for you, not West_Side). Lincolns can be very tech if you do them big and smooth. The nature of the trick just isn't all that stable.

And of course, a 7 can be sick with the right style.

Can i quote you in your thread?

"no offense but im pretty sure most companies now want a skier who can throw stuff down in park cuz thats what most of the comps are. I rip in big mountain too, i throw 7s off the cliffs there and drop daily, but its not that impressive unlessy you throw like a huge back or something off a cliff. i asked companies about BC stuff already and thats what they told me

"

" btw my coach person doesnt let me do backs...its too dangerous and i almost killed myself

thats a problem i think...

If you're following what your "coach" says about backs being too dangerous, i dunno about your chances of getting sponsored... a lot of things in skiing are too dangerous.

And im not sure you qualify for ripping in the park just yet.

If your dream is to get sponsored, there might be a problem with your mentality.

Like in skateboarding, it's great to be in the loop. But if you are good, they will find you.

not really, i am the only one at my mountian that can do that shit for the most part and i cant get sponsored

umm ha idk... my friend lucas is 12 and he throws 7s.. sW 270s on.. and he top tens in nationals... he rides for salomon and northface and stuff... r u that good?
