Soo i hate police

I don't object to laws that keep everyone safe, but I have a real fuckin' problem with curfew laws. I'm 17, don't have my license yet, and I got dropped off a block from my house. Half a block of walking, and this cop pulls up and tells me to get up against the car. And for reference, I'm a 17 year old white kid wearing a polo in a nice part of town. This guy searches me, cuffs me, and sticks me in his fucking squad car, all for being out past curfew. Then he takes me to jail, and now I have a court date. This was such a waste of time, it was obvious the cop just wanted to get his rocks off. I wasn't driving drunk, I wasn't endangering anybody, I mean it was probably safer for me to be walking than driving this late at night. Sorry, Just needed to vent.

I only know 3 cops through family and friends in my area. All 3 are alcoholics (admitted) drug addicts (admitied) and spouse abusers/stalkers (convicted). All 3 are still on the job, one is special forces! even though he used his police issued sniper rifle in a threatening manner in a stalking ex wife situation on a university campus!!

hate em or join em I guess.

Buddy... that fuckin' sucks!

My friend and I were going 100 in a 50, and we got caught... Because we were nice to the cop and we had a clean record, he reduced it to 5 over... oh and also our insurance was expired... but he just said we could take the insurance ticket to court and they'd almost 100% likely to tear it up!

Just don't be a dick to them!

Once you get let off, sue him for malicious prosecution. You'll lose but you'll get to make fun of him in open court and have a judge tell him he's an asshole.

fuck the police. Speed limit enforcement is just a revenue source. We don't drive model t's anymore, modern day cars are well capabile of driving safley 10 miles over any posted speed limit. What's worse is vehicular profiling. I got a ticket last weekend for 82 in a 75 about 10 miles from kansas on I70. I didn't even slow down as I drove past him, I thought the whole group of cars I was in were crusing along in fine. So like I said, it's not about saftey or personal responsibility for bullshit laws, it's about money and the power of a badge.

/fuck the police

Getting into a collision at 80 mph is a hell of a lot more dangerous than 20 mph. Plus your reaction time is slower the faster you drive. Speed kills. Plus its your own fault for blowing by a cop well over the posted speed. Would you also think its okay speed in a school zone?

you're right, maybe we should set all the speed limits to 20 mph, that would be much safer. I wouldn't consider 7 miles over blowing by a cop thats like 37 in a 35. Why whould I speed in a school zone just because I drive with the pace of traffic on a super highway in the middle of farm land?

That doesn't justify your argument. I never once said we should lower the freeway speed limit to 20, thats fucking retarded and unreasonable. And "blowing" by a police car is relative to the speed he was going, but that inandofitself is irrelevant because you were speeding and he saw you do it. You can often get away with going 5 over, but you're technically not supposed to exceed the limit by more than 2 mph. Speed limits exit to maximize both order and safety on any given road. We could keep raising the speed limit and some people have lobbied to raise it to 80 in places like where you were driving. However, the index of your chance of survival in an accident drops dramatically as you increase speed. That doesn't even count for the safety of the other drivers around you. There needs to be a happy medium where both the need for speed and safety can be met in compromise. I hate getting tickets too, but that doesn't mean the system sucks and they should adjust to my needs. I can't believe you're actually arguing this.

ok see. now thats where i kinda draw the line. it sucks that it happened and ur story seems legit, so yeah i feel bad for you. you never know, he coulda had a bad day, maybe some kid was out doing shit, who knows. but i do feel bad that u got in trouble like that. and i like how u didnt come on and go fuck police, this happened...u respect the law but have a prob with what happened to you, ur one of the what we call "mature" ones on ns, and theres not too many anymore...good post

everyone should have a unit installed on their car and when they go 1 mile over the speed limit they are sent a ticket. That would make everything so much safer.

Oh please! If you going to reply, give me an argument instead of this knee-jerk bullshit. All it does is just make you look like an idiot and an asshole.

Substitute "asshole" for "clueless dipshit" and you're right on the money. And no, you're not sorry one bit because you think you're being clever when in fact you're just acting like an obnoxious twelve-year-old.

Noooo, he was not owned. His use of caps was totallY justified. He was making a humorous, sarcastic statement that apparently a few of you didn't pick up on.

everyone on this site sucks this mans dick so much.

this isnt true at all actually, speed limits are often way too low on many roads, and are always too low no matter what. they are lower than they should be so the government can collect revenue through speeding tickets. yes they are low so that things are safer, but things wouldnt be exponentially less safe if we eased up on the speed limit. case and point the autobahn.

put every government official/lawmaker who has any control over traffic laws in one room, and if a magical genie told them he could make it so no one would ever speed again, they would decline, because there is too much money involved.

if you believe speed limits in this country are currently at levels to maximize law and order, you also probably believe the police are here to protect and serve us. do a little reading on the history of police forces, in america, and also in other countries.

isnt anyone sick and tired of the bullshit in this country? if i want to drive 80 MPH on the fucking highway, does it really matter? Im fucked in a serious crash at 60, and I am a pretty good driver, and its not like 20 mph extra causes my car to become an out-of-control death machine. I am betting a lot of people in this country agree with me, but we have these laws, like countless others, that do not reflect the opinions of the american people.

Oh sure, logically it's all a fucking conspiracy to put down the common man. Give me a fucking break.

It's foolish to disregard the fact that it could go both ways. You can't tell me that any person can be reasonably safe on any freeway exceeding 100mph, or any other speed given the circumstances. And how many mountain roads have you driven on lately? There are lots of places I would not try my hand at speeding. The government has to draw the line because not everybody has the same idea as what constitute acceptable speed or not. Otherwise the roads would be chaos and the number of high-speed accidents would jump.

Furthermore, the problem is the interstate to autobahn comparison its apples and oranges. The way Germans treat driving is largely different from the way Americans treat it. Being able to drive is an essential skill for the average American to carry out their daily life. The average German however does not need a car to carry out their daily business, they can either walk or hop on the train. By the way, there are speed limits in Germany by the way. The richtgeschwindigkeit for the autobahn is between 120 and 130kph.

Picture this:

So you're traveling on this dirt road on the way to school (there is only 1 road that I ever speed significantly on"). You take this turn a little too hard and you start sliding. Fuck! You can't fix it, you fly into the ditch and roll the car. It's now on it's hood. You hit your head pretty bad, you see blood. And you can't get out of your seat...your stuck...

5 minutes later a PIG rolls up. And is able to call for help, and get you out of that seat. Thank god that PIG was there!

The thing is the cost of getting a license between the two countries is where this is a big difference when license are issued. Cost of liscence in the states not sure but probably comparable to Canada which is around 200 bucks to fully become liscences which means any semi-retarded person can go into the office pull of the eye exam write the M/C test and have their first stage in licesing.

In Germany to get your drivers license you gota put up $2,000 euros sou you better be damn sure you know what your doing behind the wheel theory included. This will translate into less people going for there license because losing that amount of cash and not being able to drive would seriously suck for that individual. I know countless people that havn't passed their drivers test on their first try that would not fly in Germany and they'd tell you goodnight and thanks for coming out.

So what i'm trying to say is make the testing standards more rigorous resulting in less shitty drivers getting their licenses and then we can increase the speed limit and not have to worry about the dumbass behind me "who forgot to put on his brakes" when he rear ended me.

don't apologize, you saved me a lot of typing. it disgusts me when people hate the police, people who are treated like shit for doing a very demanding job that can even be life threatening in order to keep the rest of us safe. imagine if there were no police? appreciate the police, threadcreator, don't be a fag when you ruin it for yourself. you broke the law that everyone must abide. laws are there for a reason, not to just fuck you over. you fucked yourself over, and had the chance to not. so quit bitching and maybe next time you'll have taken something from this and won't do it again, that's the point you know.

It's just so typical of these kids. They're a bunch of self righteous punks that think anything that the government does that they don't agree with is some sort of conspiracy thats out to get them. Rather than take responsibility for something they have done wrong, they are inclined to blame it on someone else. It's a total lack of maturity.

sure modern cars can handle it, but it's the drivers that cause accidents, not the cars. some people may handle it, but not everyone can. you're only as fast as your slowest member, so they keep it down as opposed as up so that everyone can handle it and be safer.

Yeah! What a bunch of fucking idi- wait I do believe that. So does anyone else who isn't batshit insane and bent on conspiracy theories. The fact that some individual policemen go on power trips or abuse authority every once in a while doesn't mean the integrity of the whole profession is compromised. I deal with the police on a regular basis, and if you're polite, and help them out, they get your back too. I couldn't begin to tell you how many favours the RCMP has done for me (and my employers) here. They help us out and even let us slide a little because they know we're going to help them out in return. The next time you're pissed because you got caught going 20 over the limit, take a look at the annual national death toll in accidents where reckless driving and speeding was involved. Anything to bring that number down, even by 1, is worth doing.

anyone who generalizes that all cops are assholes simply because they've come across one or two who truly are have a completely loss for anything close to a decent thought process. you may not have even met any and only heard about them. well of course you only hear about bad cops because that's what makes the news, not reasonable cops who truly try to help society. it doesn't make you badass to hate on the police, it makes you look like a faggot who doesn't appreciate how well you have it in this country where we have a just and fair judicial process and decent police network. we'll send you off to a country where you can get locked up for absolutely no reason and tortured, then you'll beg to come back and pay $20 for a ticket you 100% deserved because you were going over the posted speed limit that is there to keep you and other drivers safe. shitheads.

on a windy road posted 30mph..that means you're going 50 around those corners which can be AWFULLY dangerous, especially if you cannot see what's around said corner.

20mph = 32km over. 80 in a 50 in Canada? You're getting a ticket for that if you get caught dude. And you deserve one.

you just proved my point. I am not a conspiracy theorist. police forces exist to protect the establishment of capitalism, first and foremost. thats why they were used to break strikes (literally break, as in legs, arms, etc) and capture escaped slaves. also, youre a liberal, so you should be good at thinking about people other than yourself. just because police have been nice to you doesnt mean everyone shares your story. I have always been nothing but extremely polite to cops, and they have treated me like shit even when I have done nothing wrong. and I dont care about the national death toll, because people die all the time. cigarettes and alcohol kill lots of people too. I accept responsibility for my actions, and i am pretty fucking sure that me speeding on the highway is not going to result in deaths, of me or anyone else.

"anything to bring that number down, even by 1, is worth doing." no way. I think if people want to risk their lives doing anything, whether it be hard drugs, base jumping, speeding, or launching illegal fireworks, they should be free to do so. we cant have the government acting as nanny for the world, if people had to take responsibility for their own actions then yes some kids streetracing might die, but they knew it was risky in the first place.

bad things happen to some people, but the rest of us shouldnt give up freedoms over something that ultimately is uncontrollable.

What a load of crap. A police officer's job is to uphold the law, and you have broken the law multiple times. That does not constitute as "done nothing wrong." And the government has the responsibility of protecting it's citizens. You can't have a stable functioning society if you allow everybody to do whatever the hell they want and end up killing themselves and other people around them. Thats just stupid and exactly why a purely libertarian philosophy doesn't work.

Problems with that post.

1. I don't believe you're always respectful to officers but they treat you like shit. I simply don't. I think you're twisting the truth.

2. "I don't care about the national death toll, because people die all the time" speaks for itself. Really? You just don't care? Grow up. You should care.

3. "I am pretty fucking sure that me speeding on the highway is not going to result in deaths". Well I'm pretty sure that it is. Today someone just like you who doesn't think he's going to die or kill anyone speeding on the highway will die speeding on the highway and take someone else with him. In fact it'll happen several times, as it does every single day. Why are you different? You don't make mistakes at age somethingteen? Give me a break. You're just as likely to fuck up and end up charred to the pavement as anyone else. Maybe more so because you're young (look at the statistics).

4. "I think if people want to risk their lives doing anything, whether it be hard drugs, base jumping, speeding, or launching illegal fireworks, they should be free to do so."

That doesn't make you a liberal, it makes you a libertarian, and I disagree with this point on its face (that's why there are seatbelt laws; we as a society value life for its own sake and have a duty to protect it). But that's beside the point, which is, as I said above, you're not just risking your life, you're risking mine, the guy driving next to you, hell, everyone around you. I don't trust you. If you want to go drive into a wall at 100 clicks on a private road somewhere be my guest, remove yourself from the gene pool if you must, but don't do it on a public road where there are other people.*

5. The problem is "something that is uncontrollable"? No it's not. That's why we give people tickets, arrest them, jail them for vehicular homicide, give punitive damages in lawsuits, and so forth. To control the problem. Apparently we're not doing a good enough job. If I ever get elected to public office I'll see what I can do about that.

*I don't actually believe the "kill yourself in private" part of this sentence. Street racing is illegal not only because other people always seem to get hurt or killed as a result, but because the stupidity of people who do it isn't a good enough reason to let them kill themselves.

Oh, the reason I didn't bother to respond to that revisionist history BS at the beginning of your post is because it's irrelevant and not worth the time.

every experience I've had with police has cost me money, it's been more

than a couple, and everytime I'm more than courteous considering the

circumstanes. Cops would far better serve society solving violent

crimes, not petty trafic offences. "Omg that car exceded the speed

posted on that sign then slowed down to a stop at the next light,

that's way more important for police than finding murderers and

rapists" And the post earlier,"if you crash and a cop finds you you'll

be happy for police" What if the fucking ice cream man finds you

bitch??????? I love how another girl supported you little scenario too.

Ladies, none of this applies to you, thank your breasts.

Sure 20 over is a gauranteed ticket, but 7

over on a major highway in a pack of cars shouldn't be. The most

dangerous place for a cop is the side of a highway, why risk all these

great men and womens lives for such bullshit. If it saves one life,

it's worth it right? Lets save taxpayers money, give them all bikes,

this will reduce the polices' enviro footprint, and make them more fit

at the same time. A harder driving test is a start make grandma take

the bus if she can't pass. This will help curb our nations dependence

on the automobile, and free up the roadways for capabile and safe

drivers. Drive through Denver on i25, the posted speed limit is 55mph,

when it's not gridlocked noone is driving under 70. Hmm so if the

majority of people WANT to drive at a higher speed shouldn't we change

the laws? Isn't this a democratic country? But it doesn't matter how

stirred up we get on newschoolers, the house always wins.

^I'm all for improving public transportation to the point where it's an equally viable option and unclogs the streets and the air. All for putting tax money into that. As far as I'm concerned my utopian city has an electric train running down the middle of every major street (like Zurich!)

But it's completely fallacious to say that because you're getting pulled over for speeding, some murderer is getting away. They investigate violent crimes, they stop people from speeding. Both are necessary, both are activities the police engage in. That's why the police department has vice, homicide, traffic and so on. Cops have different jobs, all of which are in the interests of society as determined by the government. As far as I'm concerned almost all functions of the police are necessary or at the very least beneficial. That was a pretty dumb argument when you think about it. Do you really think that officer who ticketed you passed up an emergency 911 call to do it?

hahaha fuck you dude. ive gotten quite a few tickets. not for speeding but for having shit expired. i owned up to it, accepted the fact that it was MY fault and paid my fines.
