Soo i hate police

I love how the whole "because you have breasts" argument is always brought up.

My little scenario was just fine. It's true. If some kid gets into an accident from speeding, he is more than happy to have a cop show up and assist him when needed. But when it comes to getting a ticket for speeding, he's going to cry about it? Bullshit. It's completely immature.

Because hitting people in the wallet can be a good deterrent, plus it helps to fund the police department so they can catch those "murderers and rapists" you mention.

He meant he got a ticket for driving safely. This is a lie. No one would reasonably believe it. No one has ever written on a ticket, "X amount of dollars for safe driving". Stupid argument.

1. I am not twisting the truth. you dont have to believe me though. I know exactly how to deal with authority. if you check my posts on here you will see numerous times where I have said things like "you have nothing to gain from being anything but nice to a cop"

2. I am grown up. a year ago I would have cared, now I care less. I am a responsible person, and if other people want to get themselves killed, fine.

3. I actually dont make mistakes. never been in an accident. and I have avoided some very nasty potential accidents due to other drivers' stupidity. I am not saying I could make a mistake and die driving. but that would be bad luck. I could die any number of ways every day. if my number is up, so be it. thats why I have never been afraid of terrorism or the d.c. sniper or any of that stuff.

4. youre right, i am a libertarian. I am also a liberal. I believe in government programs to help give people opportunities and also control against monopolies and price-gouging.

Speeding is uncontrollable. despite tickets, a lot of people speed. sometimes it seems like the majority speed to me, as how many times have you and every car around you been speeding on a highway? I am not a speeder, generally. I only speed if I am 99 percent sure I can get away with it. otherwise its always a couple mph over, and thats it.

WHAT?? I didn't think I could have thrown it into your face any harder. Anyone who helps at an accident will be appreciated.

If some kid gets into an accident they're more than happy when a rapist shows up to help, but when they're raping his mom he's gona be pissed and cry about it. OMG so immature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

without you everyone read this thread would think people recived citations for "safe driving"! thanks buddy, for clearing that up.

oh yeah? and how would you know?

did you know I was pulled over and asked to have my car searched with zero probable cause? my response was "do I have to?" knowing full well that I didnt have to consent to a search.

the pig's response was "based on your response, I am going to call in a k-9 unit because an honest citizen would have nothing to hide." that was for POLITELY half-asserting my rights

so they brought in a dog, and even though I had nothing in my car and no one had smoked inside it, and it had been cleaned out a week ago, the dog started barking. I didnt recognize this at the time but looked it up later. they used a technique where they scrape their foot near the car to get the dog to bark. then they tore apart the inside of my car for half an hour, messed up all my shit, and didnt find anything.

so I had my 4th amendment rights violated for doing absolutely nothing wrong except having long hair and smoking a cigarette. oh and I was pulled over after driving for 30 seconds with my parking lights instead of my main lights on, on a lit street, at dusk.

now lets talk about a time when I did do something wrong. some friends and I were smoking in a state park one night. a cop car rolled up so we ditched the bong and hid in the woods. the cop car stayed and more and more cars showed up. 5 hours later when we turned ourselves in since they ran my plates and called my parents, they had brought in a grand total of 6 squad cars and a police helicopter with an infrared camera. thats protecting and serving all right. protecting the citizens against some kids smoking weed, and serving by wasting a couple thousand U.S. tax dollars and lots of hours of manpower.

the cops provide protection, yes. but I have never once relied on them to do anything. some guy jumped out of a car and chased me when I was very little, fortunately I got away. my parents made me report it to the police, which made me realize that when the bad shit happens they arent around. my moped was stolen and the cops couldnt do anything, even when I told them I had a good lead on someone who may have done it, they never looked into it at all. a cop molested someone very close to me also. there are some good cops out there, but there are a lot of brutes with insecurity issues.

so, by your reasoning, if your going by the pace of the traffic, or lets say crowd, and this crowd gets involved in racially motivated lynchings....just because you're part of the group, you shouldn't be prosecuted?

honestly, you're reasoning is fucked... saying that just because you weren't the only one doing it, you shouldn't be pulled over is retarded...you were over the speed limit, weren't you? you were as a result breaking a law, weren't you?

however fucking many wrongs don't make a right.

i can't wait to watch you make a further idiot of yourself.

Wow, I read the whole post and its still totally fucking worthless to the argument at hand. Congratulations, now lets get back on topic. How does any of that rationalize why policemen should not enforce the law by issuing tickets for traffic violations?

you, my friend are not seeing the big picture and are clueless. think of this, hard drugs, alcohol, cigarettes etc. only affect you not anyone else. driving over the speed limit affects you AND other people. that is why they crack down on it its just not your life you are risking asshole. which is why alcohol is legal, but drinking and driving isn't because IT ENDANGERS OTHER PEOPLE. why can't you understand that?

dude, you're comparing a traffic violation to a violent crime. Just because something is illegal doesn't make it wrong. I can't wait for you to suck my ballz.

"What a load of crap. A police officer's job is to uphold the law, and

you have broken the law multiple times. That does not constitute as

"done nothing wrong." And the government has the responsibility of

protecting it's citizens."

just responding to you. buddy. also, read the title of this thread.

what's the matter, don't get to show off those NS-renowned debating skills when you aren't "pwning" some idiot?

Oh like you have any logical concept of what is right or wrong to begin with. You've already proven in this thread that you're an ignorant, arrogant, and selfish prick that has absolutely no regard for the world around you. What gives you the idea that your opinion of "right" and "wrong" is better than any others in this thread, or society for that matter?

Jesus, do you have Alzheimer's or something? Do yourself a favor and go to the last page to review what we were just talking about. Now quit trying to change the subject and answer my question you fucking idiot.

Please don't let NSG get into an abstract discussion of morality. I already have a headache. I'm going out on a limb and saying that under 10 members of this site are qualified to have that discussion.

"people will die no matter what'

I believe I said something like that. people get killed. it happens. I just hope it doesnt happen to me or anyone I know and go about my daily life. if I am walking down the street and some speeder spins out of control and mows me down then so be it.

its like gun control. I used to be all for it, and then I realized that I can own a gun safely, and so can everyone i know. i am just gonna live my life surrounded by safe, responsible people and rest easy. I dont know anyone who has been killed with a gun, and I am gonna hopefully not associate with people who are likely to get gunned down or do the same to someone else. but if it happens, its just bad luck.

you know what would be more effective than all these low speed limits? if everyone wore nascar safety gear. that would save way more lives. accidents are caused by driver error. speed limits should be recommended on most roads, so that people know a guaranteed safe speed to drive, and then if they are familiar with the road, can drive faster if they feel comfortable. residential areas with narrow streets should still have speed limits.

hey man i know what you are saying, but the sad thing is the world doesn't work like that unfortunately. i know what you mean about the gun safety, i hunt with people that i know are good with guns but you can choose who you hunt with you can't choose who is in that car hauling ass past you.

and as cool as it would be to have a "recommended" speed limit it just wouldn't work at all. although you know people that might know their limits to driving and wouldn't take advantage of it A LOT of people would. people who can't handle driving excessive speeds would and there would be too many accidents. plain and simple speed limits might be a little low for you but it really is for the safety of everyone, gotta live with it. get into some type of government position if you wanna fix it.

Has it ever occured to you that maybe they weren't looking for you, and that you might have been caught in the wrong place at the wrong tikme, and end up just getting screwed because of it? The fact that they called in a copter because kids were smoking is complete bullshit. If they called in a copter (I'm not saying they didn't), it would probably be because they had reason to beleive that somebody who had done a much greater crime was in the area, and maybe they mistook you for that person... They may also not have told you this, because often police don't tell the public about these things so that the public don't flip a shit and get worried.

Also, not all cops are like that. One of my buddies and I were at a huge street jam/festival this one time, and we had some beers in our packs and my friend and his friend had a half-o each in their bags. A group of cops walked by as we were in a park waiting to meet up with some ppl, and they asked us to leave because they had been tipped off that a fight was going down in the park (the year before, huge brawls had happened and like 10 ppl got stabbed). Anyway, we gaught up, and the beers clanked. They asked us to stay and asked if they could search our bags. (In total we had a 24 between our bags). We weren't in the mood to jerk around, so we just said fuck it and let them search. They pulled us aside, and took out the beers and asked to see ID. We didn't have any, so they confiscated them. Then, one of them asked us "Is there anything else I should know about in these bags?". My buddy was just like "yeah" and both him and the other guy pulled out the weed. My friend was like "i'm not dealing, it's not dimed out or anything, it's just for me so pls don't press dealing charges". The cop then pulled me and him over, and was like "boys, the only reason I'm not going to press charges, is because you've been really cooporative tonight, and I frankly have to worry about bigger issues happening in the park. Sorry to have ruined your evening about the beer." And then he let us all go. To top it all off, when we left the park, we opened up the bags to check them, and both the bags of weed were still there! How sick was that?!?

So you can't honestly tell me that all cops are dicks, cuz I know they're not. They're out there for the greater good, and sometimes its their jobs to be dicks. It's not their fault, and they're just trying to help everybody out.

In fact, for the sake of making this easy for you to understand, I will review what we were talking about. You said:

“this isnt true at all actually, speed limits are often way too low on many roads, and are always too low no matter what. they are lower than they should be so the government can collect revenue through speeding tickets. yes they are low so that things are safer, but things wouldnt be exponentially less safe if we eased up on the speed limit. case and point the autobahn.

put every government official/lawmaker who has any control over traffic laws in one room, and if a magical genie told them he could make it so no one would ever speed again, they would decline, because there is too much money involved.

if you believe speed limits in this country are currently at levels to maximize law and order, you also probably believe the police are here to protect and serve us. do a little reading on the history of police forces, in america, and also in other countries.

isnt anyone sick and tired of the bullshit in this country? if i want to drive 80 MPH on the fucking highway, does it really matter? Im fucked in a serious crash at 60, and I am a pretty good driver, and its not like 20 mph extra causes my car to become an out-of-control death machine. I am betting a lot of people in this country agree with me, but we have these laws, like countless others, that do not reflect the opinions of the american people.”

This post gave me reason to believe we were talking about speed limits. More specifically, what value they have and should they be enforced. Then I said:

“It's foolish to disregard the fact that it could go both ways. You can't tell me that any person can be reasonably safe on any freeway exceeding 100mph, or any other speed given the circumstances. And how many mountain roads have you driven on lately? There are lots of places I would not try my hand at speeding. The government has to draw the line because not everybody has the same idea as what constitute acceptable speed or not. Otherwise the roads would be chaos and the number of high-speed accidents would jump.

Furthermore, the problem is the interstate to autobahn comparison its apples and oranges. The way Germans treat driving is largely different from the way Americans treat it. Being able to drive is an essential skill for the average American to carry out their daily life. The average German however does not need a car to carry out their daily business, they can either walk or hop on the train. By the way, there are speed limits in Germany. The richtgeschwindigkeit for the autobahn is between 120 and 130kph.”

Then you preceded to ignore my reply. Later you went on to comment on a post JD made and I gave a brief reply to that. Afterwards, I attempted to steer the conversation back to my original reply because I assumed it was an oversight rather than blatant disregard. I guess I was wrong. If you want to continue this discussion, stay on subject we were talking about instead of diverting on tangents. Thus far, the only point I see you (and others) get at is that what you would call a "minor" problem should be completely ignored by police because there are more dangerous problems in society. Also that what you would call a "minor" problem should be completely ignored because the whole system is bunk due to the outrageous leap in logic from a few rogue officers. Just because one thing can be considered worse than another does not mean that both should not be illegal or enforced. The ball is in your court, and I look forward to what you have to say about the subject I have been referring to the whole time.

Oh, and if you’re curious about how I was sure you have broken the law multiple times, thats easy. It's probably likely that you've been caught speeding before, otherwise you wouldn't be so adamantly against the idea of police enforcing a speed limit. Second, your username and profile strongly imply that you recreationally smoke marijuana, you even posted pictures that support this. The fact that you even later admitted to getting caught doing so clinches it. It is also quite reasonable to think that you do it regularly by the contents of your username and profile, and the fact that you admitted either yourself or one of your buddies owns a “bong”. Thats how I would know.

So what's the matter tough guy? Don't get to pat yourself on the back by attempting to put big bad Quinny in his place?

I would also like to point out that the autobahn cannot and will not be compared to any highway or freeway in North America. There are a number of reasons for this:

1. It's not as if the entire autobahn is limitless in regards to speed. Almost all sections of the highway now have speed limits - they just change depending on the road/traffic conditions, and are posted on digital highway signs much like the ones put in place all over N.A.

2. The drivers that use the autobahn - in general, are much better drivers than those using freeways all across North America. This is for various reasons. First, they are much much much stricter with regards to their liscence testing. It is much much harder to get your liscence in Germany, because their tests are soo much more rigorous and in-depth, and require much more training - not to mention the degree of tediousness that one must endure going through the process of attaining a drivers liscence over there. Also, the cost of attaining a liscence over there is somewhere in the thousands of euros (similar to our racing and pilots liscences in N.A.). This also puts people off in the beginning (student aged people without the $$ to spend on a liscencce) and helps filter out the people who aren't mature enough yet to be driving over there.

3. Lastly, the punishments over there are waayyyyyy harsher, and the law is much more heavily enforced on the roads. People don't fuck around with the law when it concerns driving, because they know it's stupid, and that they'll get their asses kicked.

So don't compare the autobahn with here, because the speed limits put in place here are what they are to help regulate the peole driving over here, not the people from Germany.

haha actually I have never gotten a speeding ticket in my life. I just really hate how all cops have to do in my area is give tickets and bust people for....yes, recreational drug use.

also if you are doing 20 mph its a 1200 dollar ticket in virginia. and no I am not trying to put you in your place, I just strongly disagree with a lot of what you say

I didnt see your other post, thats why I was confused why you were bashing my tangent.

anyways, I pretty much agree with most of that. I know lots of rural roads where the speed limit is actually kinda fast for the road unless you know it real well. but I am just saying, there are a lot of roads where people could drive faster. cops are never on these "paved rural roads" as I refer to them. these roads in my area have a speed limit of 45, are very rural roads, but are paved unlike a lot of roads around where I live which are dirt.

cops do love to hang out on the road to my house which is 25 because a development got put in, and used to be 45. the road is extremely wide and the houses are far enough away from it. my mom and dad and many other people I know got ticketed on it. there is no reason for it to be 25. also most highways should be 75, I am fine with that speed. west virginia has 70s, and CO has 75s.

I'm sorry, but I frankly think you're grasping at straws.

What exactly are you disagreeing with? I said there are two reasons that speed limits are enforced. One is to serve as a deterrent for people to not speed. Second is to use the revenue generated as a means to help fund their ability to further protect and serve the public. It's not nearly as simple as looking at a piece of road and then saying that the speed limit will be 50 mph. There are specific criteria that are considered when a road is to be designated a certain speed. These variables consider things like the number and degree of curves in the road, the number of intersections, average road conditions, the number of traffic lights, what the road is used for, and what sort of land occupies either side of the road.

Policemen watch places where people are more likely to speed...so what? If people are more likely to break the law in a particular location, common sense would suggest that it would be prudent to keep an eye on that particular spot.

Just because you may feel comfortable driving 10 mph over the limit does not mean that everybody else feels the same way. What about the old lady the drives a Lincoln Town Car to the grocery store? You need to compromise for the whole group when you are considering a set of rules that apply to everyone. You need to create a system that both considers safety and efficiency.

And I find it funny that you were acting all hard earlier and are now playing passive. I'm sorry, but I'm not buying that act.

You said: "I know lots of rural roads where the speed limit is actually kinda fast for the road unless you know it real well."

Which is contradictory to what you said earlier: "this isnt true at all actually, speed limits are often way too low on many roads, and are always too low no matter what."

I can't figure out what you disagree with when what you are saying isn't consistent. So explain to me what you disagree with? Or even say what you supposedly agree with.

You do realize that for a Police Constable to respond to a murder, rape and/or terrorists, that they have to be told it is happening right? Cops cannot predict the future nor can they just sense that on the other side of the city someone is being raped. Give me a break.I have been on patrol a couple of times with the Ottawa Police Service, so i am saying this from first hand experience. If no-one is calling in anything, then they have nothing to respond to! It's simple logic. So therefore they have time to enforce traffic laws, and patrol high crime areas. Basically, it is the publics obligation to contact emergency services in their times need and in the mean time when the calls are quite, police will continue to enforce traffic, property and other such laws while on patrol. And dont give me the "oh there's no point in calling the police they take so long blah blah they dont care". EVERY time I have been on patrol, the police constables drop everything they are doing (even one time they let a speeder go because a more important call that came in during the traffic stop) and respond to whatever is priority. Understand as-well, that there are different priority settings for different situations witch regulate how much time it should take to respond. And back to the original topic:simple. no speeding. no consequencesI got a speeding ticket once. What did I learn? Well, if I go the speed limit, i dont have to pay a ticket!Have some accountability for your misjudgments. Its not the end of the world and people make mistakes. Learn from your mistakes, It makes life run much smoother.

haha not to sound like a smart fuck or something but i just got done with government class and yeah we have freedom of speech but we cant use fighting words or some shit liek that
