As far as the missle capability of North Korea, they can hit anywhere in Japan as well as the majority of the western coasut of North America. I live in Japan and this is on the news everynight so trust me. A few days ago North Korea fired a missle into the Japan Sea, I don't like this because I live on the coast of the Sea of Japan. However I am in a small town, so feel somewhat safer. They do not have Nuclear missle capabality...YET.

As far as WWII and Japan. The bombs were the only solution at that time. The war that would have happened would have been brutal. I can in full honesty say that I am not sure who would have come out on top. Japan held their own against our Pacific Fleet, my grandfather fought among them. I have visited Nagaski, and Hiroshima, and I was truly changed by the things I saw. I understand the enormous loss of life, I have seen pictures and spoken with elderly in Japan who were alive then, and they do not hate me or judge me for what happened. The Japanese understand what happened, and understand the reaction that occured. However, the devastation of those weapons is truly horrifying, and they do not hold a candle to what is around today. I hope I never see the day where a another nuclear bomb is dropped.

It is true the North koreans wouldn't make a move right now because they would get blown out of the sky(and lets face it, they're pretty much making scary noises so they can get some cash). Yet they still pose a larger threat then Iraq. And by Using president Bush's logic, if he unilateraly attacks Iraw he sets precendent for attacking every rogue states, i.e. Iran and North Korea(the other two axis of evil teammates).

I also just want to say that all those peace activists who are meeting with suddam are complete and utter morons, and every time I hear Saddam claims the peace movement is a show of solidarity I shudder. Saddam is an evil bastard, but why should his people suffer any more for that fact?

Why would America go to war with Iraq if Korea was our biggest threat? They wouldn't. There is obviously more to this war than we know. Why would the government let everyone know the things they know. That would be stupid. Iraq poses the biggest threat to us. It isnt just Bush that goes to war. Probably hundreds of people have thought this over and taken the time to figure out the best solution. There is no perfect solution. If we don't go to war the problem will still be there.

I think that a common mistake made among the people of America and abroad is that the morals transcended on TV and through the media are actually a direct reflection of the people in this country. Which is false, it isn't a reflection of me and I’m American.

Rather I see that those moral values, that we see, on TV as a cultural outlet not as a cultural reflection. However you can choose to look at it any way you want to. My values are set and what other people think of them or interpret them doesn't matter.

well, I guess I should be more specific, our government is not moral, it is basically run by old greedy, frat boys. I think that all people in high offices should be paid as much as the average American, which is around 26,000 a year. That way, the greedy ones will not be attracted to politics and the moral people that truly want to help this country will. Its like scienctist, you dont make a lot, so many people do not do it, but those that truly beleave in the cause do.

And concerning the above. I do not mean to say that Canada is 'better' than the US, merely that opinions are founded on selected information. So listing shit like above is pointless, because, really, what's it to you? Two people agruing over who is 'better' is really quite stupid. Sure you can all you the conflicts of interest that arrise in threads such as this one?

 
ok one more nugget of thought for you ski-hobo. The people who run our country are not 'average' people. They all have higher educations and for the most part are very bright and able men and women. They are above average if you like it or not. So shouldn't someone who is better then being just average make more then that? Not to mention the stress of there jobs, running the most powerful country in the world... they deserve every cent they earn. The moral issue is one that you as a voter need to concern yourself with.

Iraq is a very just war, and Bush should have said fuck the UN a while ago, and gone in himself, resolve the situation, get rid of Saddam, then move on to bigger fish, i.e. North Korea. For people who say Saddam is a bigger threat to America, the're not entirely correct. Kim Jong Il is very much a threat, but the North Korean situation is a much more delicate one.
