So, why do none of us do this?

Free-rollersking? I don't think that anybody has ever rode these badboys switch, somebody has to start. I have a feeling that this will be the biggest thing since urban kayaking.

yeah, but there is absolutely no potential to do tricks on cross country skis. This idea is mostly jokes, but at the same time I think that it could be pretty dope. Only problem is that you could get your shit fucking WRECKED if you fell.

and because that prob will not work,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRNy4S68kxc

and to nomen, i know some nsers cross country ski but not a very high percentage of the masses.

i have tried xc before and it was miserable. i could skin uphill for hours but thats only because i know i get to ski back down. xc on the other hand just seems pointless to me unless someone relies on it for transportation which i doubt is too many NSers

I think I remember something like that too. It kinda defeats the purpose though, because if you are somewhere where there is enough incline to get air, you might as well be wearing regular skis. But whatever floats your boat, go for it; somebody decided it would be cool to cross country ski until your lungs bleed and then shoot at targets, and now it is an olympic event. I dig XCountry skiing, but I usually prefer to let gravity do my moving for me on the mountain.

look at the picture you posted?ask yourself, would this appeal to teenage park rats? answer: no. does that clear thing up?

ripelys beleive it or not had a segment about this the skate/ski thing for getting hyphy on. there were guys like hitting jumps in san fran or some shit. it was like 8 years ago.

I think that anything past 4XL would be a hazard on roller skis. And to the roller blade post above me, that video was dope as shit, but just think, what if rollerblading was the summer version of skiblades, and there is just a huge untapped well of steeze in the sport of trick roller skiing.

Don't tell me you cant do stuff on xc skis! I've been competing in it my whole life, and whenever I get new skis I do tricks on my old ones before selling them! Learned to do 360s on xc skis, and riding switch 3 years before I learned it on twintips! And no i haven't broken a single pair yet...

Back to the thread.

Yes those roller skis would be sick to use if they would make bindings for them that wont let your heel move. And you would have to use the skate skis, but with classic wheels. Last thing, yes I've tried to ride switch on them, but for me it was to fucking scary at that point. But with soft wheel and proper bindings they could be cool!

i saw a huge clan of overweight people doing this the other day. needless to say i lawled everywhere

classic as in wide? they make skate wheels that are wide or maybe combi but real classic wheels have ratchets which would be a no-no for switch rollering.

but yeah cc ski boots don't have much ankle support. roller skis are pretty unstable without wide wheels. theyre slow as shit on purpose.

but the added danger of no bakes is always awesome when youre flying down a hill with an intersection at the bottom.

dude, not all rollerskis are slow as shit. there are some very fast ones. bombing down hills is fun with them.

those jibskate things are quite possibly the stupidest things ive ever seen in all my 20 years. buy real fucking skis goddammit

Classic as in wide, and the rubber is softer. And where do you get the thing about ratchets from? And they are fast! And the soft wheels makes it possible to brake.

Yeah, I misunderstood the ratchets thing... Thats why you need the skate skis, with classic wheels.

couldn't tell you man, I just googled roller skis and I chose that one because of the two goons in the background

ive kicked the idea of building some around for about 3 years now. i was thinking short 2x4 with scooter-type wheels on the ends. id like to make them near normal ski length, but that wouldnt work all that well i dont think

no. they gotta be short. otherwise they flex to much and scrape the ground. you can find em for less than a hundred bucks. x country skiing has been paying my bills for two years along with taking me all over the world. not nearly as fun as alpine skiing. but its been good to me
