So, why do none of us do this?

well yeah I get that, but what I am saying is that the whole idea is turning this into a freeskiing type thing

uh... you could try. itd be tough. no edges. heel is free. and the boots are pretty much shoes. i.e. no support. rails would totally eff a pair of skis in about 3 nanoseconds

Don't know about that. What I have tried is taking good old xcountry skis on a powder day and do some drops and downhill skiing in the lower backcountry. What was hard is hop turns on a steep powder hill. The tail doesn't like to leave the snow because of the heel type. Ended up with a lot of snow up my nose. Easier to get up there but not as good as having skins. Another fun thing I've tried earlier is telemark skiing on these bad boys on a groomed slope, they have no edge but it's definitely fun to try something new.

well real classic roller skis have ratchets to simulate kick. like when you stride. and most of them are slow so that it better simulates actual skis on snow and gives you more resistance for a better work out.

oh and a bit of claiming...

my name under first place for the younger male division i fucking killed that race.

Roller skis are really intended for race and nordic training. They're pretty expensive, really heavy, and pretty stupid if you're trying to use them to help you with freestyle.Rollerblading is pretty cool if you're really good at it and have lots of friends who do it so you don't get your ass kicked by skateboarders. Honestly though, I think skateboarding is super helpful for skiing. It keeps you in the right mentality, and it makes you really thankful that skis are attached. That, and falling all the time helps if you like skiing rails a lot.

Yeah, I understood the part about ratchets... But with the skate skis they don't do anything to make them more resistant (well in Norway they don't). So if someone made the spot where the wheels sit on wider, and put on some classic wheels (without ratchets) It would work.

I love x country skiing. Its a good non skiing winter activity. keeps your cardio up and keeps me in tip top shape

these things have been out forever i wanted some maybe 5 6 years ago and they use to make ones with "grind plates" in then under foot too

I think that sports like xc skiing, road biking, ect. would get a lot more respect from guys if they didnt wear spandex and stuff like that. I get that its to be arrowdynamic, but it doesnt portray a manly image at all, even though those sports are very tough. downhill mountain biking banned spandex because it doesnt portray the image that they want about the sport.
Bottom line. Dont hate on stuff stuff that youve never tried for being gay because chances are you would suck at it.
