i live just outside of toronto and there was a group of people that were based from alkida(sp?)and they were planning on bomming the toronto subway station and the local nuke plant...they were supposed to execute the plan yesterday...FUCK
 
alqaeda. yea i heard about that. they were also plotting to come to ottawa and bomb the fuck out of us but they decided not to because they cant find their way around our town. thank god for 1 way roads....

Well its quite obvious really. think of the percentage of people killed by terrorism in Toronto. Then compare that to the percentage of people killed by being hit by cars or in car accidents.

i am wondering the same, as we have barely any economic impact on the world, although Canada does sell a lot of resources and energy to the US, which might be a reason... And Afghanistan, but that seems ridiculous.

does canada even have that many troops to have a reason to be attacked? i dont see canada pulling out its troops from afganaland having a huge effect on whats happening there.

the fact of the matter though, is that most Islamic sects OFFICIALLY (not that every member believes it) view those who do not follow Muslim religious rules as evil. After 9/11, the Muslim leaders in America basically said "well, we CERTAINLY don't condone the murder of thousands of defenseless civillians. That was a terrible thing...but they had it coming."

It has not been like that forever. You are retarded if you think that. It's actually a fairly recent thing. About 60 years actually. They have good reason to be pissed at western culture, I would be too, but there is no good reason for terrorist tactics.

i would think becasue of how our "new" prime minister steven harper is doing alot more military wise than we have done recently ahving the Liberals in power for a long time. Harper is not being a pussy like the liberals before him and is actually looking to protect Canads interests and not fuck our ties over with the US....he has been trying to fix our ties to the states and also internationally...i think he is doing alot mopre than anyone ever thought he would do...which is good.
 
remotely related story: i was at a little theme park in europe, the week later the swing ride (big spinny thing with seats suspended from it) broke and 20 some-odd people were hurt severly
 
If there are any terrorists then there are too many, but by no means is 1% a "VERY high %" like that kid said. He is saying all of Islam is a terrorist religion. 1% to 100% is no comparison.
 
OK, the majority of people in car crashes and pedestrians hit by cars probably dont see it coming. This is probably why they get hit in the first place. I doubt theres very many people that go 'hmmm, theres a car coming right for me, I could move but i think i might just stay where I am'.

Seriously, get real. Youre not going to see either of them coming. BUT, the probability of dying in a car related accident is way higher than getting smoked by a terrorist. Hell, youre more likely to get killed by some crazy fucker in the street who wants the $10 in your pocket than a terrorist.
 
Sure there's a reason for terrorist tactics. They are trying to win a war. Desperation brings out the true evil of humanity. It happened in Vietnam with kids being used as human shields. It happened in the Revolutionary War when we hid behind trees and rocks, it happened in the middle ages when they launched plague-ridden bodies over fortified walls, it happened when we dropped the atomic bomb on Japan, and it happened when we were bombed by terrorists on September 11th.

What we seem to think is that terrorism is a new thing. Terrorism is just a word thrown around mostly generalized at Muslims. Take a look in the pages of history. Dirty tactics have ALWAYS been used and we speculate terrorist actions only from our side. Yes it is cheap, but it works. Unfortunately, humanity can not be trusted to create peace within itself, so these types of things happen. I just hate how the world today is so oblivious to the fact that so many wars fought of desperation resulted in horrible effects.

Yes, I think it sucks that they have to be used, but I understand why they use them.

First of all, not all Muslims are terrorists. This is a stigma that Islam has gained due to the horrifc actions of a few. You couldnt say all high school students hate each other and want to kill each other, just based on seeing the Columbine shooting could you? It would sound absurd. As does saying all Muslims are terrorists.

Second of all, there are extremists in EVERY religion. If you look at some of the extremist Catholic groups in South America, youd realise this pretty quickly.

Thirdly, did you stop to think WHY the extremists Muslims want to cause acts of terror? Maybe its the fact that the US and their lapdogs have invaded Iraq? Maybe its because over the last 50 years the US has puts its nose into other peoples business where it shouldnt? Hell, just look at the Gaza Strip and the West Bank for an example of where the US should keep out.

In all serousness, FUCK these threads that turn into political debates in 20 posts. Both sides hear have good points-

-The religion of Islam is very conducive to certain percentages of the religion to becoming extremist/terrorist/imposers of muslim law/hating non muslims

-all religions that teach that there way is the only way are also conducive to things being taken way to far. For most modern Christians (yeah I know that the crusades happened, now fuck off), taking things too far normally means becoming legalistic and judgemental of all other people, however, show me an example of modern christians that blew up those of another religion (northern Ireland was Christian vs Christian) just because they didn't believe what they believed. Islam does have a bad track record of the extremist minority taking things much much farther than extremist minorities of other religions take things.

-when people get pissed off, they tend to make generalizations that sound ignorant

-when you come out and blindly state that what somebody said is "Stupid" or wrong and therefor they are ignorant without hearing them out, you also sound short tempered and ignorant.

So fuck these threads, fuck politics, fuck the minority of the population of the world that fucks things up for everyone else. It would be so much better if we just let others be as long as they weren't hurting other people.

All very true. However, all those things are ends justifying means, and I hate that philosophy. I can understand the reasoning behind terrorist tactics, but I don't think they are very good reasons. Of course, it matters very little what I think. What matters is what terrorists believe is worth doing to gain something. I like to say that I never agree with terrorism, but I also can't bring myself to disagree with the American Revolution. It's a very hard topic.
 
i did, and please refrain from name calling it is entirely unneccesary. i simply meant that should a terroist attack go through you are more likely to die... the reason more people die walking across the road is because it is generally done many times a day by each person.. if you looked at deaths while crossing a road vs, actuall time spent crossing roads, you would see that the ratio is much smaller than deaths from terrorist attacks vs. total time being attacked by terrorists.
