To me it seems like hes playing it really safe during this term, in order to help secure his chances of getting re-elected. If he gets re-elected I think he will make many big changes, the changes just have the potential to tank his future campeign if they go poorly.
 
safe...closing gitmo, 787 billion dollar bailout, governmentalizing healthcare (trying), increasing the power of the federal reserve, etc...

I am still stoked on Obama.
The economic stuff has fallen a bit flat, unfortunately, but I think there are some positive signs that will be felt by people once the unemployment goes down. But then again, unemployment is the last thing to recover.
Foreign policy- pretty skilled, I have to say. He's brought back the U.S. reputation abroad, and has made many of the right moves with regards to the elections in Iran, Russia, and the Middle East.

 
relax. it's been six months. if you were expecting him to part the red sea, walk on water, and feed thousands with a few fish in the first six months of his administration, then you are unrealistic.
now I'm not claiming to be pro obama, nor am I anti obama, but be realistic with your expectations. things don't happen overnight.
 
I was not stoked with him in the first place, he's was an idiot with literally no experience. I really wish in this country people would pull their head out of their asses and realize the road the US is going down. Right now the government is almost doing exactly what California has been doing sense the mid to late 80's and how is that working out for them? Now the direction that he's trying to take the country in is the exact thing that has been going on in European countries for years, but they realized that shit wasn't working and have done a total 180. I'm sick in fucking tired of a government that wants to do everything for their people, that's not their fucking job and anyone who thinks it is better have a reality check or a fucking history lesson. Actually the number of people without jobs is MORE than what Obama had said would happen if we did nothing, so actually, we'd be doing better with McCain doing nothing.
 
on the economic stuff the supporters and the critics are being too harsh saying it will work or it wont work. the great depression lasted from october 1929 until we entered ww2 in december 1941. over a decade! the dudes been in office for roughly 6 months lets give him some time before any of us pass judgement on whether or not his economic stratagy was a success or a failure. i have high hopes that all this will pay off but who knows, maybe all his good intentions will fall flat.

Bush spent $700 billion on a bailout.

Obama spent $787 billion on a stimulus.

I'll take the stimulus, thank you very much.
 
I fail to see how being able to do nothing and letting the economy tank more would have saved more jobs then trying to fix it

All of the people that voted for Obama are still busy talking about the article on Obama swatting a fly, Sarah Palin talking about how she enjoys running, and the GOP's strategy for the upcoming elections.

they dont really know why they voted for Obama, they just know Obama good, Bush bad, and that is about as in depth as they can get. they have 0 explanation at all as to what the hold up on the stimulus is,

but they can write 2000 words about why Rush Limbaugh is evil. They don't know where the housing billmoney is going, but they know a million nicknames for the GOP and can explain why the south and anyone who is religious is evil. They cant explain why cap and trade is good for the average american, but they can give you a minute by minute update on what Sarah Palin is doing and why she is evil. They cant tell you how healthcare reform with a public option will be sustainable, but they can come up with 100 hundred reasons why Bush should not have invaded Iraq and why he is evil.
 
Obama's stimulus makes no sence. We were suppose to see immediate and long term effects. We were also promised that the unemployment rate would not go above 8% and now it is approaching 10%.

I think the stimulus was a waste of money and we will be paying crazy taxes for it in the upcoming years.

No, Bush's bailout makes no 'sence'. Neither does your spelling, by the way. But I digress.

If you think the stimulus was a waste of money, you should consider reading up on the bailout.
 
Here's the run down I try to give uninformed people about what is going on right now.

- He sold his campaign to the uninformed. Can't blame him. a vote is a vote right? "don't hate the player. hate the game" in other words. don't just hate on obama, hate on the fact that it takes an old man to succeed in being hip and cool to get young people and minorities interested in their government.

- Doesn't matter if it's called a bailout or a stimulus. YOU CAN NOT PRINT MAKE BELIEVE MONEY TO FIX THINGS. The rest of the civilized world is seeing what is going on and THEY are bailing out on the DOLLAR. You can quote me on this next one too. If phantom money does not stop being made and the federal reserve is not audited, the dollar WILL collapse. Along with America as we know it.

- The government thinks something BIG is coming. They are prepping for an event that they can not trust their own police/military/national guard to handle alone. I believe the number is up to 14. That is 14 countries along with "private contractors" that will have military and intelligence training INSIDE US borders starting in a little over a week. I think you should read Obama's stimulus, all 1588 pages of it. Then you will see it makes no sense.

you cant be to hard on obama he came into power in a financial crisis and america fighting in 2 wars i think anyone would stuggle to live up to expectationts in those circumstances.
 
a lil more elaboration on my opinion on him. foreign policy wise, for the most part love it. id like to see him be a little harder on israel, but thats hard to do with the lobbying power israeli sympathizers have in this country.

in terms of economic policy... im hoping things turn out ok, but well see, its really too soon to tell either way.
 
we are lucky he is sitting in a cave laughing at us rather than in washington dc laughing at us cause if we wouldnt have brought the war to iraq and Afghanistan the terrorists would have brought it to the us and if you havnt noticed there wasnt a single terror attack on U.S. soil after 9-11 with bush as president so if you look at it that way bush did well under the circumstances he faced.

Regardless, nobody really ever said that the country should do nothing.

I know your point is seemingly anti-obama, but realistically, the mantra that the dems and Obama in particular have been ridng "if we do nothing..." or "if we had done nothing" is very deceiving, considering, as I said, nobody wanted to do "nothing." Mccain had plans, other candidates had plans. The only difference was that obama wanted to spend the most.
 
Wow!!! Wow! wow! Really? If you want to say that, you should remember that clinton knew that AlQaeda had been developing and growing stronger in the MiddleEast but did nothing except fire a few unguided rockets into the center of bagdad.
