Snowmobilers of ns

Used to ride a lot back in high school.

The old sled. 01 MXZ 600

I miss that sled. It was a rocket up to about 95. Fastest I ever went was about 105 out across a lake.

The newer one. 06 Rev 550F:

Even though it's a fan cooled sled its enough for around here. Up north in tug hill it's a little slow but since its fairly lights is wicked fun in the deep stuff.

My dad has an 03 Rev 600 HO. Carb work, reeds, clutch work, Monster Performance shocks. Rips really good for a 600. Me a few years ago:

I miss riding. Winters up here have been so shitty the past few years which is why I got into skiing. I never had the luxury of taking time off from work for snowmobile trips and with skiing as long as snow is being made I can ride pretty much every weekend.

I have a 2000 Polaris XC SP 500 anniversary edition, ride anywhere and everywhere in MN, mainly backcountry and lakes. Though it's up for sale now, looking into getting a mountain sled.

Arctic Cat M7I also have 2 Elans one which i'm currently rebuilding with a new engine.

Riding is just as fun as skiing. Southcentral AK is where it's at. Unlimited terrain. Can't wait to hit Turnagain

My dad just bought me a brand new 2012 Ski-doo Renegrade Backcountry X. Stoked as fuck, I hope we get some snow soon.

2001 Yamaha sxr 700 triple. Weighs about a thousand lbs but wicked fast and got it for free so it's cool. And I ride to school and then up to my local mountain everyday!

ADKS, NY. i ride a yamaha V-max 500 with a fuckton of engine upgrades. Usually trail riding but sometimes we head up to big moose lake and participate in the drag races

My family has 2 sleds. Ones a Polaris RMK 600. The other is like a BRP 550. Not totally sure. They rip though. We leave them up at my cabin that always has insanely deep snow. The Polaris goes way fast. I've got it up to 89 before, it was still speeding up when the road ended. I love sledding though. Is there a cult for sledding on NS?

Only 800 I ever rode was a Renegade with 96 picks in the track. It was an XP as well. Literally had so much torque off the line you had to hang on for your life. I had it up around 90 a few times but since it had the longer track I think it'd only do about 100.

I've ridden a lot of sleds over the years and one of my favorites was one of the newer Yamaha Phazers. It only did about 85 but for a 4 stroke it was fairly light and fun as hell because there was so much low end torque. Plus it had the Ohlins shock upgrade which makes a huge difference.

One of my dream sleds to this day though is a Rev 440 rolling chassis with a 600 HO motor. Clutch, geared, shocks valved for my weight, and a 1.5" track. It'd top out at about 90-95 because of the gear work but it would walk all over 800's off the line.

I have a Polaris pro xr 440 that used to be a race sled, studs on the track and everything. It rips on the trail but can get a bit tricky in deep snow, but still so fun!

I bought a 2009 POLARIS ASSAULT 800 last year. its fun as fuck but i gotta sell it this year, i had to choose whether to ski or snowmobile, sucks but the choice is made haha

What walcott said.

You're full of shit.

I've never been a Cat person but if I remember right the Crossfires were their long track sleds similar to a Renegade sled from Ski-Doo. They were a trail sled but they were also capable off the trail in moderetly deep shit.

While Cat always made decent motors (most note-ably the F7 motor, those were fast) I'm pretty sure the 800 wouldn't be able to push a Crossfire to 120. Longer track (I want to say those were 137's with 1.5" lugs) would make it pretty damn impossible stock. Unless you've put in serious motor work, that's my callout.

I had a friend back when Ski-Doo re-released the Mach Z in the RT platform with the 2 cylinder 1000cc motor trying to get that over 120 and they were having a hard time in ideal conditions. After quite a bit of clutch work I think they said the fastest it ever went was 118 verified with radar.

That isn't an exaggeration at all. On a frozen lake. 40 miles of just flat snow covered ice. I got scared and let off. Do you have any idea how fast 800 two strokes that weigh 450 pounds are? I can see how in the mountains that would never happen but when you have that long to achieve that speed you can do it.

See you don't know your shit. This is my callout. It actually had 136 track with 1 1/4 inch lugs. And think of this. A Honda civic that has 185ish horsepower and weights over 2500 pounds can get over 100mph. How would a crossfire with 150 horsepower and weighs under 500 pounds not get to 120mph? The gears are long enough to get there. Mountain sleds are geared to have less top speed because you don't need it. A crossfire is not a mountain sled. Longer gears. Also the Mach z was heavy as shit that's why they quit making them. And all sleds are two cylinders apart from some triples. The trips were also heavy as fuck. And unreliable. And guzzled gas. The 800 is the perfect power to weight ratio. Especially in newer sleds. 120mph is very possible on a stock 800.

lol.

You just compared a Civic to a sled.

Also your sled is way over 450 lbs:
http://www.snowmobile.com/specs/arctic-cat/performance/2007/crossfire-tm/8-sno-pro.html

Dry weight is 495, add 10 gallons of gas you're almost at 600 lbs, then add your ride weight. You did get me on the track length though, it's been so long I can' remember all this shit.

And no, not all sleds are 2 cylinders. Don't forget about the newer Yamaha's. I still say no way 120 mph with a Crossfire. If it were a normal 121" track I'd say it's plausible but no way with a 136. I've ridden a Rev XP 800 Renegade and that could barely hit 100 and its rated at 165 HP.

Anyways, lets change the subject.

1998 670 Summit X, fairly modded I suppose.

-151x16x2 Track

-Drop & Rolled chain case

-P85 Primary clutch, roller secondary

-Short cover mod

-Oil Injection, airbox, altitude compensator all deleted.

-Fox Suspension in the front

-Skis off an 05' Rev

-MBRP Can

-Idler wheels deleted, rear wheels moved internally

Sled rips, will keep up with an 800 in the hills.

Sled all the time... it's the best access for skiing other than a heli.

Murdered out Summit Xp 800. Black on Black on Black. I ski pow from it and rally it. Resort skiing sucks.
