Used to ride a lot back in high school.
The old sled. 01 MXZ 600
I miss that sled. It was a rocket up to about 95. Fastest I ever went was about 105 out across a lake.
The newer one. 06 Rev 550F:

My dad has an 03 Rev 600 HO. Carb work, reeds, clutch work, Monster Performance shocks. Rips really good for a 600. Me a few years ago:

My family has 2 sleds. Ones a Polaris RMK 600. The other is like a BRP 550. Not totally sure. They rip though. We leave them up at my cabin that always has insanely deep snow. The Polaris goes way fast. I've got it up to 89 before, it was still speeding up when the road ended. I love sledding though. Is there a cult for sledding on NS?
Only 800 I ever rode was a Renegade with 96 picks in the track. It was an XP as well. Literally had so much torque off the line you had to hang on for your life. I had it up around 90 a few times but since it had the longer track I think it'd only do about 100.
I've ridden a lot of sleds over the years and one of my favorites was one of the newer Yamaha Phazers. It only did about 85 but for a 4 stroke it was fairly light and fun as hell because there was so much low end torque. Plus it had the Ohlins shock upgrade which makes a huge difference.
One of my dream sleds to this day though is a Rev 440 rolling chassis with a 600 HO motor. Clutch, geared, shocks valved for my weight, and a 1.5" track. It'd top out at about 90-95 because of the gear work but it would walk all over 800's off the line.

I've never been a Cat person but if I remember right the Crossfires were their long track sleds similar to a Renegade sled from Ski-Doo. They were a trail sled but they were also capable off the trail in moderetly deep shit.
While Cat always made decent motors (most note-ably the F7 motor, those were fast) I'm pretty sure the 800 wouldn't be able to push a Crossfire to 120. Longer track (I want to say those were 137's with 1.5" lugs) would make it pretty damn impossible stock. Unless you've put in serious motor work, that's my callout.
I had a friend back when Ski-Doo re-released the Mach Z in the RT platform with the 2 cylinder 1000cc motor trying to get that over 120 and they were having a hard time in ideal conditions. After quite a bit of clutch work I think they said the fastest it ever went was 118 verified with radar.

That isn't an exaggeration at all. On a frozen lake. 40 miles of just flat snow covered ice. I got scared and let off. Do you have any idea how fast 800 two strokes that weigh 450 pounds are? I can see how in the mountains that would never happen but when you have that long to achieve that speed you can do it.

See you don't know your shit. This is my callout. It actually had 136 track with 1 1/4 inch lugs. And think of this. A Honda civic that has 185ish horsepower and weights over 2500 pounds can get over 100mph. How would a crossfire with 150 horsepower and weighs under 500 pounds not get to 120mph? The gears are long enough to get there. Mountain sleds are geared to have less top speed because you don't need it. A crossfire is not a mountain sled. Longer gears. Also the Mach z was heavy as shit that's why they quit making them. And all sleds are two cylinders apart from some triples. The trips were also heavy as fuck. And unreliable. And guzzled gas. The 800 is the perfect power to weight ratio. Especially in newer sleds. 120mph is very possible on a stock 800.

All I'm gonna say is we have drags on the lake, organized ones, and I was clocked crossing the line at 120mph.
