Snowboarding with poles....

So where does it say that snowboarders can't use poles.....? I've been using poles and they've been way helpful especially in the powder and on the cat tracks. Plus you don't ever have to unstrap to get on and off lifts. You can pole wack just like the skiiers all day long! Oh and did I mention they're hella stylish...hahah. Does anybody else use them while snowboarding? or have any buddies who do? START THE REVOLUTION!

while yes, you probably will get a lot of hate from NS for what you have said - the people who will hate on you are probably not snowboarders, don't leave the park (therefor not really NEEDING poles themselves) and are scared of the unknown.

Over the past few years I have slowly had more snowboard friends ride with poles. Where I first started seeing it was cat skiing guides who were snowboarders, and over time more of my friends have and are keeping their poles in their hands on the way down the mountain.

I do a lot of backcountry skiing, so simple mountain travel is the key reason for them to keep their poles in their hands. Especially when riding with skiers. In bounds, I don't really see a point - unless your hills flow sucks - but in the backcountry, it makes getting around so much easier for a snowboarder. Personally, I don't know why the hell they just see the light and keep their split board split, but hey - to each their own.

yes this is a Skiing community but if this dude likes boarding with poles, it seems like it would be super cumberson, but power to him.

ok, skiiers invented poles, dont steal the idea, and if i ever see a boarder with poles(that arnt just using one of their friends for a sec) i would take them and throw em in the woods.

YO DAWG I HEARD YOU LIEK CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS SO I PUT A CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC INSIDE OF CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC SO YOU CAN DEBATE A CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC WHILE YOU DEBATE A CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC.

Oh yeah? I really don't know what I'm talking about. But why the fuck would snowboarders use poles? Isn't balance a key part in snowboarding?

please refer to my post above. come out to the kootenays and you'd be surprised as to how many skiers use poles while in the mountains (no - i'm not talking in bounds - that's silly).

I understand though that most of you don't have mountains, nor do you touch powder or the backcountry... so I accept that you say he's trolling and completely ignoring my points towards poles being beneficial for snowboarders. I used to be an east coast park rat - it's not your fault.

sounds practical, but really dumb at the same time. I wanna see a video of a boarder throwin down with poles. Its gotta look weird

He is a troll. He has two posts and just look at his icon.

However snowboarders useing poles is nothing new to me. I wish they would I wouldn't have drop poles for them on cat tracks. This is coming from a kid who would rather ski trees and what the midwest thinks qualifys as chutes then park any day.

I don't see any reason why not. I feel it might be awkward because on a board you are facing the side and to use the poles you would have to rotate your body.

I'm a little confused on how poles would even be helpful on a snowboard (unless you were on flat ground.)

but to each his own.

there's a guy at schweitzer that shreds so fucking hard with poles, he's referred to in my family as "the legend."

no offense but how old are you people?? started wearing it 3-5 years ago, is that a joke? snowboarders didnt invent baggy clothing, and they started wearing it a lot longer than 5 years ago. jesus

you dont need poles

i dont use poles and i dont ski park.

poles are a crutch, if you drop em you get better at skiing.

I'll post some videos when I get home from work today and you can judge if it looks weird. My buddy says it looks cool but at least from my perspective it FEELS definately out of place. But today was a sick powder day and they definately came in handy so I'm thinking, use them for powder days but that one guy is right that there really is no need for park or crap snow days. Except for style bonus points of course. Am I still a troll if I legit use poles while boarding??

Oh man, it's like Alta all over again.... I figured you guys might accept me into your community if I started using poles, guess not...

please rest assured douches like that are the minority on this site.. well, not douches, douches are probably the majority on this site, but snowboard haters arent so common

I don't think skiers copy snowboarders, I think both skiers and snowboarders copy black people. Just think about it... Baggy clothes: from black people (they used to do it more back in the day, now they wear lots of tighter clothes which is my next topic). Tight clothes: they do it a lot now, sag their tight jeans below their ass and wear skin tight shirts and whatnot; skiers are now starting to wear tighter snow pants while sagging those pants too, and some wear pretty tight/smallish jackets along with it, but mainly just the pants. And lastly, rap music: we all know that comes from black people.

So enough of this skier vs. snowboarder crap, its just skiers and snowboarders... copying black people.
