while yes, you probably will get a lot of hate from NS for what you have said - the people who will hate on you are probably not snowboarders, don't leave the park (therefor not really NEEDING poles themselves) and are scared of the unknown.
Over the past few years I have slowly had more snowboard friends ride with poles.  Where I first started seeing it was cat skiing guides who were snowboarders, and over time more of my friends have and are keeping their poles in their hands on the way down the mountain.
I do a lot of backcountry skiing, so simple mountain travel is the key reason for them to keep their poles in their hands.  Especially when riding with skiers.    In bounds, I don't really see a point - unless your hills flow sucks - but in the backcountry, it makes getting around so much easier for a snowboarder.   Personally, I don't know why the hell they just see the light and keep their split board split, but hey - to each their own.
