Snowboarder charged with manslaughter

The thing is, there are no good ways to die. They all suck. Better not die in a situation where you get yourself and maybe others killed because you fucked up (there will be people putting their lives at risk trying to recover your dumb-ass body). It really is an embarassing way to go, better to not be remembered for making a big mistake in the backcountry.

I was an aquaintance with someone who was in a fatal collision with another skier. It wasn't their fault, they said they were shocked that they had contributed to this person's death, and all ski patrol did was take their statement, and baasically tell them to have a nice day. It happened in the morning, and they were done with the whole thing by lunchtime. This kid is getting charged because he was extremely reckless. If this lady had been under a rollover, like some people have been suggesting, he would not be getting criminally charged.

'She had just completed a run...'

does that mean she was at the bottom of the hill? if so, not her fault.

however if she was 'done' skiing an actual trail, and waiting for her husband to contine on another trail, and possibly waiting on a knoll or something along those lines, its a totally different story.

whoever said 'its bullshit that this kid is getting charged with manslaughter' why the fuck is that bullshit? the definition of manslaughter is that you kill someone unintentionally - thats what this kid did. How can he be exempt from the law if he hit a person in good clear visibility and was going so fast he snapped his board in half? We don't know. However, another thing to consider is that he has been charged with it, it doesn't mean he will be found guilty. Innocent until proven. You should watch more CSI.

ya it is a shitty accident but its not bullshit that he's getting charged. Like the guy two up from me said. thats the def of manslaughter

fuck a book

That is really tragic. Things like this should never happen. But i think it has to be taken for what it is, a risk of the game. On every lift ticket and pass in the country, there's a liability release for that very reason, the nature of the sport is associated with all sorts of risks. Not that Im saying 'go ahead ski out of control.' ive also been crashed into by skiers and snowboarders alike being out of control on the hill. its unfortunate that this lady died as a result.

thi9s could have been prevented. ski in control, and it wont happen.

It would be cool to Americanize this poop show somehow. But, instead of squeezing poop out of animals, we could beat Chinese hookers with crowbars. - random net person that i found on a site shown to me by apple

yah as some one said hes not even convicted yet, and its a maximum of 20 years so he definatly wont get the maximum considering if he is even charged as an adult. he could be charged as a minor and have to go to like juvy or do some cominity service. he should definatly be charged but not as an adult because as previosly stated he did comit manslaughter. but i would still like to know more details on what exactly happend.

what happined to drugs, sex, & rock and roll...now adays we have aids crack and techno.......

no way will he get twenty years. you can shoot someone in the head with a gun and get less than that.

Personal responsibility. You are responsible for your own actions when you're skiing. The downhill skier has the right of way. This dumbfuck hit her and KILLED her.

Should he be punished? Yes. In what way? I don't know. Manslaughter seems pretty stiff, but I'm not a lawyer nor do I know what kind of sentence he would received should he be convicted.

Perhaps the fact that he ended someone else's life because he was irresponsible is punishment enough. He'll have to live with it.
