Snow Watch 08/09

looking at the satellites, i have no idea how this system is supposed to produce that much snow... but... the forecasts have been consistent, so I guess we'll see...
 
what do you mean?

hwy 20 closed over the mountains for the winter on thursday. hwy 90 was closed between cle elum and ellensburg for a bit tonight.

i just drove over blewit and snoqualmie passes from wenatchee to issaquah. fucking intense. cars in ditches. people driving 5 mph. and tons of snow.
 
Yeah I just drove from CO back home today, and it snowed HARD from Boise to Tulalip. I think I was the only person there at 12 tonight who knew how to drive in snow...

where are you guys hearing this about alpental? its not on their website. and usually they open west first, since it needs the least amount of snow. im so confused!
 
aaah sick, i'm heading up to snoqualmie tomorrow for instructor clinics... i'm really hoping its legit... a week ago it was pretty barren up there

 
I was at Snoqualmie today for a clinic. There was a shit load of snow. Coverage was iffy sometimes from the wind, but most of the time the snow was between crotch and knee deep. There were some exposed creeks and rocks, but nothing to bad. I didnt get a chance to actually ski, but I did mess around on a snow skate for a while, and it was pretty fun. We put a few shots in it though, so watch out for those rocks. The snow was pretty dry, but you could still shape a snowball relatively easily. I saw a bunch of people up at central hiking, and they all seemed to be enjoying it.
 
Coming down all night in Fremont, now its sticking to the pavement finally. Snowing very very hard. I'm going to go suit up and play in it.
 
white pass is starting to look much much better..supposed to clear off for the next few days, then get some more of the white stuff on wednesday..they're looking at about 30" up top right now..

how's crystal so far? crowded up there??
 
crystal was really bad today nobody should come!

in all actuality it was way sick. not crowded really, but it was sooooo cold today. but when they opened up chair 6 if you found the good spots there were face shots turn after turn. just a little sketchy with rocks and all, my buddy got a huge core shot.
 
little chilly over steven's tonight. 4 degrees at 6pm, probably colder now.

whoever went to clinics that posted above:

did the summit open up any chairs or was the wind too nasty?

mohan cancelled the clinics due to wind advisory and road conditions... although i drove all the way up there and it was pretty decent, sun was out and everything...

i got pulled over by a state trooper for speeding @ 55mph in a 70 though... ??? luckily he was such a swell guy he only gave me a warning... i was a little confused...
 
I heard they were running the quads, but nothing else. We were in our lodge pretty much all day but when I was outside there was minimal wind. Actually to be honest it would have been a super day of skiing if we had a base and the lifts had been open. Not horribly cold, pretty much no wind and a ton of really dry powder.

i'll be up there for clinics on sunday all day... should be tight, although i'm still seeing no snow in seattle tonight...
 
Fuck the weather..... there was snow north and south of seattle today... but none on mercer island.... i dont want to go to school!!! aaahhhh
 
haha who knew i'd wake up to an inch and now its up to 6. oh who heard the thunder this morning? thunder + snow? so creepy
