Fucked. Decided to go at 12, expecting the avy delay to be till 2. Got worse the further we drove until we hit the wall of cars at Grotto, got word that Stevens was closing and said "fuck it, lets hike somewhere". Took a logging road a little ways down from there, really wet and heavy snow, lots of work to hike in, and not fun enough for a second run. Gaaaaaaaa...

Yeah, I was in that.

We went up about 1, and got some super sick snow at Alpy. I was giggling the whole time.

When went to leave, and they were blocking the road with a cop car. We thought we were going to be stuck up there all night, which was really bad, as my friend had to finish a couple of finals papers. We went to the grocery store to get food, and the lady there announced after a bit that they were running a caravan of cars down. After waiting in a line of cars for about 45 minutes or so, we got to head down the eastbound lane.

But the snow was so totally worth it. One of the best days I had for a while, and boy Alpental is fun on a pow day.

Gotta give thanks to La Nina for dumping a foot of new snow everyday all week and might even keep dumping next week. Tues and Wendsday were insane as some of you know. Over the head blower faceshots is the shit you dream about. And that's exactly how I would describe the skiing at stevens this week. Gotta love the PNW!

I finally got a ride at like 12:45AM last night and it was AMAZING today! Talk about face shots galore!

But I don't get it when people say "There's too much powder" It just boggles my mind.

Heading up right now... lets hope I make it there and dont get stuck there by any avalanches. Gonna be sooooooo fucking great.

Hiked Silver Fir a few times, the snow was so fucking deep and dry, on the last hike up we find out that Central Express was running on a generator, so all of the remaining powder was tracked out.

Bluebird... 6in fresh on top of many feet in the last week, and I had to be in an avy course all day!!

Though it was fun, and informative.

I thought Stevens was super tracked out today. Damn, what the crowds/weekend can do to some good pow. Park was pretty good though.

well shit i walked a little bit

sink up to your belly button without your skis on

park was looking good

either that or someone at NOAA is fucking with us:

Tuesday Night: Total nighttime snow accumulation of 9 to 13

inches possible.

Wednesday: New snow

accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Wednesday Night:

New snow accumulation of 12 to 18 inches possible.

I think I am going to be up there too. I am driving up from ellensburg to ski with my dad for a few hours and then ill prolly be rolling solo once his legs give out and him and his buddy leave. Id be down to meet up and rip some powder.

Stevens Pass reopened at noon Thursday after being

closed since 2 a.m. Thursday because of snow slides and avalanche

control work. A power outage is affecting the Stevens Pass area, said Jeff Adamson, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.

Snoqualmie

Pass was closed at 10:45 a.m. this morning as avalanche control crews

worked near Interstate 90. Adamson said the highway will remain closed

at least until 1 p.m. Thursday.

my money is on non of the passes opening tomorrow due to the supper high avy danger from the warming cycle and Crystal is going to be a fucking mad house. any one in the western part of the state who wants to ski tomorrow will have to be at Xtal.

Not open.

" Due to the prolonged I-90 road closure, Summit's Central, West and East will be on stand-by for Saturday, 2/9/08, pending the freeway re-opening. Unfortunately due to the high avalanche conditions, Alpental will not open for Saturday operations. We appreciate your patience in these difficult conditions! For the latest updates regarding hours of operation for Saturday please stay tuned to our website and snowline at: 206-236-1600. "

And Snoqualmie more than likely will not open at all because of...

Interstate 90 Snoqualmie Pass Update: Avalanche control work continues and it is now estimated that I-90 Snoqualmie pass will be reassessed Saturday, opening no earlier than Saturday evening. Opening the roadway will be based on avalanche risk analysis. The roadway will be opened when it is safe to do so. WSDOT will give updates as work progresses and information becomes available. // Snowing, blowing snow and poor visibility

If everything goes according to plan, the DOT will have I-90 open around 9 or 10 tonight. Snoqualmie will be open if the road opens. Alpental will be closed regardless.

" Due to the prolonged I-90 road closure, The Summit will not be open Saturday, 2/9/08. But GOOD NEWS! It's sounding promising for I-90 to open this evening, so we will plan to run Summit West, Central and East on normal schedule for Sunday. Alpental will remain closed due to high avalanche danger. "

Hit up Mission Ridge today for the first time. The GF's family was in town from Oregon and wanted to ski stevens. With that closed we instead went to Mission which was pretty fun, got my ticket paid for too which was killer.

Was pretty warm though as you all know, sticky sticky snow but still had a hell of a time. Their main quad the Liberator was closed which accesses what looks to be their best terrain, the Bomber Cliffs. That lift also accesses the terrain park so I was without technical terrain or a terrain park but still made the most of it. Mission is a nice little place with little crowds, especially since their quad was shut down and basically every other resort in the state was closed. Hopefully ill check it out again sometime when everything is open and not sticky. All in all a good time and its a cool little place.

you gotta teach them to use their legs and get a little workout in. the Bomber Cliffs were still open, just needed a little hike.
