SNOW: freeride/freestyle skiing game

i bought the tester pack (well the one that was second to most expensive, not the cheapest one, the silver one) and no update on steam???

So is this normal?

And btw since M3 came out (I'm playing on windows through bootcamp on a mac retina with NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 M) the rider is all choppy on the outline, even on lowest resolution, lowest graphics, no ski effects and no motion blur (motion blur doesn't change the way it looks either). Before M3, I played on 1600x1200 (or something close to that, even tho i could even bring it to 2880x1800 but it'd be quite laggy) on medium graphics and the graphics were smooth, the character looked real good. I've reinstalled twice, still the same choppy shit around the character which really gets me quitting the game after a few minutes (also some big feature's outline, say a kicker once you get close to it get the choppy thing as well).

Devs can you help??? Or i'm guessing just wait for M4 to fix it (please fix it, i used to love this game)

mine is doing the exact same thing dude. its almost unplayable

We're still working on it. We really want to make sure it contains the features we set out to include in it (full riding gameplay) and things often take longer than expected.

It's unbearably annoying isn't it? I've checked on steam forums and nothing about it there, @snowthegame, any help??

I understand that completely, but your social media and such has been kind of quiet about it so I think people just want a little more updates especially on something as big as this.

My opinion though is take your time with it, if it were rushed it would be even worse than waiting a little longer for a quality update.

As far as the M4 update goes (going by the test version) Rails currently don't work, but are a bit better than they were a week ago. Sound makes it a lot more playable but you can't mute or turn off the music without some ~ code I don't know. Corks and bios don't keep track of rotation anymore. When the game first came out and everyone was bitching about too many rocks and unskiable stuff, they added more rocks and a quarry, which is hard to navigate without jumping off something and slamming into a lower rock formation. Regardless- the newly added stuff is pretty cool and fun, oh and the halfpipe works better now but still isn't perfect. Other than new parts of the mountain it isn't too different in terms of skiing characteristics.

Great game, really have potential. Have played it since the release and it's getting better and better.

But some bugs i've noticed in current patch(?):

When you do big tricks like triple cork 1260 the notification isnt big enough to fit all of the text in the trick.

Screaming seamen grab is showing as @ui_screamingblablabla whatever it says.

When you quit game from being on a mountain back to main menu it says @hud_frontendblablablasomething

Sialia you have to change time of day manually. (Command for that is e_timeofday if someone is having this bug)

And when i customize my character there is this baaaad graphic and it does'nt change so i can see what texture my clothes are, they are just blurry. Is it only me this is for or is there anybody else with this issue?

My mac had hard drive problems. I got a new hard drive from apple and all my stuff is gone so I have to download windows all over again haha. I'm wanting to play so bad right now.

Hey guys, Ive had problems with this game quite a bit in the past, but for the most part it has worked. Now, it reaches the poppermost screen and starts to flash really fast. Any ideas whats up? Update looks sick, i really want to try it.

Cheers

Try turning V-sync on.

The game just stops at the black screen after the sponsors screen. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? I wan't to try M4 patch so badly :(

Now I feel like is when you guys should start focusing on optimization (if that is even the correct term for it). I've been able to play your game with no issues in the past on medium to high quality, but with each update I've noticed a pretty significant drop in what quality I can play the game. Now with M4 it is barely playable with every setting on low. I can play games like Skyrim, the Elder Scrolls Online and Titanfall on my PC on medium-high quality with no issues at all so I'm convinced this is an issue with Snow.

Awesome update!

I don't liek that you got rid of a lot of the spawn points though and so many rocks. In M3 there were waaay too many, but now some of my favorite spots look so completely different and barren. Also just hitting a rock makes you fly off and you can't go off them or anything.

Also when I do a trick bigger than a double 720 it still just shows as a dub 7.

And doing handrails and shit in the village is near impossible.

Lo2 park is awesome, though!

What happened to scissoring? I think it would make skiing rails look a lot more natural. Great update though!

Just posting this here since it's awesome.

Also, to answer some of your questions..

- We patched the game yesterday (see here) that might fix some technical issues some of you were having trying to get into the game

- Optimization is something we always work on, but as the game gets filled with more content and mechanics, the game will run slower on older machines. This is the unfortunate reality with PC game development. We're doing everything we can.

- While we removed some spawn points, we have also added some new ones with the new areas that we've been working on. We want to push players towards these areas as we have spent a lot of time in them working on gameplay and visuals. I appreciate that some of you are used to the old areas (which are still there) but we need to start making this world more interesting and detailed :)

- We're still working on trick scoring. Complex rotations (corks, rodeos, mistys etc) are very hard to track as there's a lot going on at once and they're not necessarily black and white (e.g. corks can be corked more or less). We'll figure it out eventually (note that all other games avoid going down this path as it's very hard to do)

- Rails only work in the Lo2 park right now. We didn't have a chance to update the whole level with the new functionality. This will come in the next update.

- The rail animation system is also going to be improved in the future to handle scissoring etc. Was just too much to do for this update and we wanted to get it out once we had the basics working.

Hope that answers all of your questions...

They are going for the future Tom Wallisch look lol

Super stoked on the minor update yesterday, helped run my game smoother. I finally have the graphics tweaked so I can run them on medium and it looks great

THIS, i think there should be a few options of hair, like short, long, dreads even hahaha the bald looks weird sometimes.

is there going to be a PS4 beta? or alpha soon? I understand that you have just finished a huge update for PC I am just so stoked for this game. As someone else said already though take your time to make sure of a quality release. I'm sure you guys already plan on that. You have done so much already and I'm just super stoked to get my hands on this.

Is there a way I can turn off the in-game music?

I want to listen to some of my own music, but I can't since there are no audio settings.

Nothing is going to happen on the PS4 front until next year unfortunately. We don't have a big enough technical team to handle multiplatform support just yet. Hopefully we'll have more news before the end of the year though.

Hey SNOW, love the game, got tester pack and I'm stoked with the progression you have made in the last few months. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in, I feel you should remap the screamin' seamen grab to a more difficult button combo. That is a rare grab to see in these tricks, and I feel it is too easy to bust that out when it really difficult to do in real life. It just feels out of place with everything else.

Though I totally get what you mean, it's hard to make any particular grab harder to pull off than others. Sure, doing a Safety is easier (just one key/button press) but doing a mute or japan is the same complexity as screamin seamen (2 key/buttons). The only thing more difficult than that is a 3 key/button input, but that's not necessarily representative of the difficulty of the grab. So unfortunately there's not much we can do.

It always comes back to referencing Skate on these things!

For example - the rocket grab in Skate was harder to do and took longer to implement - was basically an extension of another grab where you had to do the nose grab then add the other hand, so it was a bit of a button combination.

Perhaps something along these lines would work - for example holding japan and moving the right d-pad in a circular motion.

OR - consider the screaming semen is a feet-based trick - use X or A in combo - similar to how 1 foots are done in Skate?

It would be good as the abovee poster said to have some grabs that are harder to do - at the moment everything is on the same level of difficulty.

I'd love tricks to be harder overall to land - aware that this is something being worked on but at the moment landings are way too forgiving at the moment (and there is very little "weight" or impact to most landings.

In other words- add a daffy then another "tweak" button (which exists) to take it to screamin seamen, and I will agree that it is too quick to implement/ release when I can let go of it right before I hit the ground and the legs are magically uncrossed. Also making the tweak button have a left and right would be cool- but would ultimately need to ditch the current button mapping to make it work.

In other news... here's a behind the scenes look at how we got sound into SNOW! Took some time to do, but was well worth getting original sounds directly from the real thing.

This is what I was getting at. Very similar to the SKATE grab mechanics. It all seemed to be very fluid and everything made sense. It also gave you a few tiers of grabs, so you could possibly implement a few more into the game. Again, I have a blast with the game, I just want to see it reach its full potential.

I finally have a computer fast enough to play it in 1080p at a reasonable framerate. I played M2 back when that was new on my brothers computer.

A few things:

- what happened to the camera where we could just pause the game then look around using a floating camera? That was really helpful when it came to planning lines.

- press F3 to fly around, release F3 and I'm floating. It's really hard to get back down without smashing into the floor.

- Chad's gap is no longer chad's gap. Like what happened to the tree? Did SNOW blow up chad's gap?

I'm pretty sure you can still freeze the camera with "V" and you can use "G" to give you an unlocked camera that you can move around.

The whole F3 fly thing seems to be glitched now. Hoping they fix that soon, I use it a lot to get around to different lines.

Chad's gap is still there and you can still hit it. You just have to spawn up higher to get enough speed.

SNOW is 25% off during the Steam Autumn Sale! Shred some pow while eating turkey!

We also hope to have a new update in the next few weeks that will fix multiplayer issues - so you'll finally be able to ride with your friends!

1. YES. Thank you sir.

2. It would seem gravity is turned off...

3. Yeah chad's is there (taking a line from the spawn in front of the arch down over the gap is awesome), but my complaint is purely aesthetic. The tree at the landing has gone!
