so i got my pass pulled at alpental yesterday sort of. my 2 friends and i got up there at about noon, got to the top of chair 2 and when into the patrol room to ask how things were out back. they told us that nash was closed but elavator was open (hammered but good). so we ski down go into snake dance, and thinking that elevator is open because that is what we were told we cut in where the old gate was (about 50 yards higher than the new one). so while we are traversing there are two ski patrol posted up down below us a bit and they tell us to come over, so we ski down to them thinking that they are going to give us a talk about how we are not supposed to take that higher traverse, and that we have to enter through gates only. but when we get to them they ask us why we are skiing in a closed area. because we took the higher traverse we never saw that the gate actually was closed so we are like no we are not aware. they tell us that they are blowing a cornice up top and that the whole bc is closed and that they were going to have to ask for our passes, we hand them over, and explain our situation. they are understanding but say that they still have to take our passes and that we should ski to the first aid room by armstrong where we can call pro patrol and explain ourselves and ask for them back, they also thanked us for being reasonable and respectful and said that they would tell pro patrol that. so we ski down, having a pretty sick run through heavenly trees where we meet up with another party who had gotten their passes pulled but were still super stoked on the skiing and go to the first aid room. there a lady calls pro patrol for us who immediatly tells her that we cannot have our passes back today and that we should call them on week day. so that was kind of a bummer but we decide to go to the hike park for a bit and then hike poke around alpental road finding little things to ski.
haha kind of long story but thought that i would share
