Snoqualmie 09-10

Drove over the pass and looked yesterday and it looked like the jump had been knocked down, not 100% sure though cuz I just looked from the freeway, but I remember seeing it from the freeway before and the jump was in pretty obvious sight.

i know the jump wont be there. the park crew guy told me its just going to be small jibs becuase of the no park passes.

Talked to park crew today and tommorow is the last day that west is open with the mini park. Then alpental closes after next weekend most probably

i am going to be up tommorow hopefully for last day of park and probably hit alp aswell. hope to see some people not just everyone going to stevens lol.

so i got my pass pulled at alpental yesterday sort of. my 2 friends and i got up there at about noon, got to the top of chair 2 and when into the patrol room to ask how things were out back. they told us that nash was closed but elavator was open (hammered but good). so we ski down go into snake dance, and thinking that elevator is open because that is what we were told we cut in where the old gate was (about 50 yards higher than the new one). so while we are traversing there are two ski patrol posted up down below us a bit and they tell us to come over, so we ski down to them thinking that they are going to give us a talk about how we are not supposed to take that higher traverse, and that we have to enter through gates only. but when we get to them they ask us why we are skiing in a closed area. because we took the higher traverse we never saw that the gate actually was closed so we are like no we are not aware. they tell us that they are blowing a cornice up top and that the whole bc is closed and that they were going to have to ask for our passes, we hand them over, and explain our situation. they are understanding but say that they still have to take our passes and that we should ski to the first aid room by armstrong where we can call pro patrol and explain ourselves and ask for them back, they also thanked us for being reasonable and respectful and said that they would tell pro patrol that. so we ski down, having a pretty sick run through heavenly trees where we meet up with another party who had gotten their passes pulled but were still super stoked on the skiing and go to the first aid room. there a lady calls pro patrol for us who immediatly tells her that we cannot have our passes back today and that we should call them on week day. so that was kind of a bummer but we decide to go to the hike park for a bit and then hike poke around alpental road finding little things to ski.

haha kind of long story but thought that i would share

sucks but at least they're giving em back to you
also whoever made that kicker in the backcountry on alpental right after you get in through the nash gate.. thank you so much haha. whoever did that desereves a plaque for a perfect bc jump

so west is open this weekend again... but i'll probably be at stevens because they have big jumps.

anyone that went this weekend: do they have enough snow to run a little jib fest thing two weekends from now? i know you guys probably don't know, but any ideas?

^ A friend gave me the head's up about the patrol pulling everybody's pass that day going BC. It was like a sting operation, lol. about 3 weeks left anyhow, so whatever.

Patrol at alpental has always been really cool in my experience. Especially compared to other places I've skied a lot, cough* crystal and Bridger *cough. I guess it doesn't hurt when you know a handful of them though.

I saw a lot of people ducking right below the upper gate that day. Didn't see too much patrol presence, personally.

well i think the main reason they were posted up is that they would be fucked if somebody got buried by an avi caused by them blowing a cornice. but anyway i got my pass back today patrol was really chill didn't give me shit for ducking ropes just had me fill out a form so if i got busted again they would be more strict

I'll be up at west hitting the jibs tomorrow if anyone wants to join in. Also me and some friends are going to be drinking and grilling at alpy post session for those of the legal age who want to join in.

I'm disappointed... Typically Alpental is open at LEAST until May!

Dang weather. Dang economy. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Time to put the touring gear to use!

what guy are you talking about? I think I saw two people rack themselves, one guy cleared the next try and the other laid on the ground for about 10 minutes and left.

Guize, he must be right! He has a green dollar sign next to his name.. His mommy and daddy must have enough money to send him to other mountains too.
Honestly, stop bitching. Snoqualmie is pretty damn good for the altitude it's at. We shouldn't really even be skiing that low in the mountains (almost november to april).

hehehe, i like this post. but come on guys, we need to let this thread die out so we can start up the 10-11 thread in a couple of months

Well in theory, if you took astroturf up to summit, skied on it, then the season will have started....kind of

da fuck? there were obviously a large amount of days last season where it rained heavily. i wasn't going off about it, agreeing that it indeed does rain a whole lot, and I would know because i spent 99% of my season there, where my mommy and daddy did not send me. Also, i spent 5 of my own dollars to contribute to the site and you're trying to make fun of that? where in the hell did that come from?
and yes this thread needs to die
