Today at Alpental there was lots of new snow. It kept dumping the whole time I was there but it was a little wet and heavy. Everyone said that Wednesday was epic though.

that's easy to say as a 2nd semester senior. haha
but, i have a 50 page paper due, and it's worth upwards of 150 points...

just wait till junior peter...its way worse...but senior year is leegiiit...kinda sad...says its gonna rain on sat...but im stoked to ski on my new anthems (i heard they slay)

My school had 3 AP classes total. I wouldve killed to have gotten more credits to knock off some of the bullshit you have to take in college (not that there arent a lot of choices, but if its not related to your major it seems shitty). Anyways, I support you, good luck and kill it~

haha. thanks mang. i totally agree though
i mean, my school has soooo many ap classes (garfield high school, seattle)
of the ones i can name:
euro (taking now)usla 11calc abcalc bcstatstudio artlatinspanishjapanesechemamerican govla 12

but, i think i'm missing something
anyway, yeah. it'll be a lot of work, but my brother seems to be doing fine, and i'm going to have the same ap courses as him

Take the courses, you'll thank yourself when college seems easier and you are better prepared.

I did the IB Full Diploma in high school, and am much better for it.

Do not take AP classes. I took 3 as a junior, and senior physics, and it was a big mistake. I just got worse grades, and colleges don't care about AP classes. They just care about GPA. Unless you're planning on going to an IV league school, then take AP classes and get straiguht As. If not, they will just harm you. You will get into almost any college you want if you just get straight As in normal classes. And you need to get a 5 on the tests for most schools to have a chance of acknowledging them.

I just did Running Start as a senior, and that actually gets you ready for college. The classes fully transfer, and you're actually in college classes. AP in high school is nothing like college at all. It's high school.

Moral: Either stay in normal classes and get the easy As. Or do Running Start and get college credit/prep. AP is retarded.

i second this...ap classes just fuck up you gpa and colleges to give a care if youve taken 3 honors classes..unless you can ace all of them

i agree.

you pretty much have to ace the AP tests to get college credit. taking actual college courses in high school will translate into actually freeing you up from basic undergrad requirements in college. so you can avoid 8am classes and start taking courses in your major sooner.

in high school i was able to take german thru uw and some english/social studies type course thru seattle u's mateo ricci college. getting Bs in those courses got me out of all langugae requirements and basic english lit in college. whereas getting 3s on my AP bio and AP calc tests got me absolutely nothing in college.

I think some AP english classes would suit you well, that sentance made no bit of sense. :)

I didn't take any AP classes, or honors classes, or running start or anything like that in high school, and I got through college just fine.

nonsense. surely your high school guidance adviser panicked and told you that no one gets into college without running start, IB credit, AP credit, varsity sports, a 4.0 gpa, musical talent, and 10,000 hours of community service?

the only good part about running start is that you get more time to ski, less busy work and the girls are way hotter. high school teachers, for the most part, are fucking nimrods.

Ya thats the problem with AP calc/sciences etc, it gets you credit when you get a 3, but you get credit for the shitty retard version of the college class so if its a prereq for a major you need to take the other version. The difference is if you take AP classes for stuff outside your intended major then it just counts as general credits and you can skip the bullshit. Unless you get 5s on your AP tests, then you can skip multiple classes. 5 on AP Chem = skipping 3 quarters of intro chem at UW~

Also RIP

fuck that, take ap classes and do well and get money. Do some work and learn some shit dont pretend like its not worht it

well, my parents expect me to take all the aps that i can, and get a 4.0
unfortunately, i've gotten 2 bs... freshman la 1st semester, and marine bio last semester (the class i'm writing the 50 page paper for)
anyway, i understand what you guys are saying, but i'm trying to get into a competitive school, and my parents are super crazy. i would probably take the ap classes even if my parents weren't making me anywyay though.

shit dude, 50 pages for marine bio? whats your topic?

I took marine bio last semester and we just did 10 minute presentations on whales and shit. It was hella easy. Our teacher was a joke.

I have a hefty degree, an amazing job, and make tons of money.

I'm not saying its not worth it to push yourself as hard as you can in high school/college, I'm just saying you don't NEED to do those things to succeed in life.

BUT, all the credit stuff aside, pushing yourself hard in high school and college will only make you that much better prepared for when you're out in the real world in a real job. Real work is nothing like school, it is so much better (and at times harder, but still more rewarding... at least that has been my experience in these 3 years I've been out of college)
