Just switched from snowboard to skis and in need of advice. Anything from general learning to how to do tricks is appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

>tricks are for kids

>obtain birth certificate

>doctor birthdate, become underage

>publish everywhere so everyone knows you can do tricks

>??????

>profit

In all seriousness, how new are you? If you're completely fresh, just focus on skiing without tricks. Get the basics down first. Kids trying to do park who can't ski for shit look like (and are ) idiots. It'll pay off in the long run.

learn how to ski really well, then add tricks. you'll always suck if you don't have a foundation.

e.g. a 630 off isn't cool if you pizza on the way in.

so my advice is to take lessons, become a beginning ski instructor and do clinics, or get a coach

pro-tip : don't have a friend or really anyone you care about teach you skiing

First of all good choice. I'd start with carving, riding switch a bit, and just some ground spins.

Why do you say that?

If I understand correctly (and in my experience), that person is going to get really sick of your slow pace, and you're going to get really frustrated with them when they're constantly telling you what you're doing wrong. It's better to have a professional help at first.

Speaking from personal experience, get used to the weirdness that is leaning forward and driving the skis. On a snowboard, you can get away with way more as far as where your weight is, and how well you can subsequently ride the board. I know that on steep things, I put a lot more weight on my back leg to hold a solid edge and keep my board's nose from folding/hooking in rough snow. The hardest challenge for me when I switched was telling myself that I had to be leaned forward to stay in control and not fight the skis.

the other guy nailed it. They'll get impatient and you'll resent them for not being as helpful as you might want
