SLVSH

JF is easily one of the GOATS. Street master, has super stylish doubles, nosebutter 4’s onto gnarly rails — just a master of his craft.

honestly all I could think about watching any of the videos in the whole series was that everyone looked faded. Cody LaPlante looked zooooooted

Vinny is on another level of weird that most skiers can't reach / dont try because its wack

Bummed, quan has insane tech but could match vinny's weird.

Overall i found this slvsh cup meh, the park wasnt that crazy and a bunch of the features stayed unused.

Fuck yeah! my heart said Vinny, my brain was like nah Quinn's too good. love watching Vinny with the weird grabs

I dunno why people are disappointed. The whole point of slvsh is to do tricks the other skier can't do. Some of his grab calls were sweet. Like the lead liu kang and nose +tail. Definitely would have been sweet to see more variety of tricks that didn't rely on grabs, but that's just not how he's going to win.

That was the game I expected, definitely not the game I waned. Stoked to see vinni win the cup! Just not really an exciting game to watch. Ref was pretty dull, quan didn't seem hyped either. Music was bland.. Vinni's stoke level was the only thing that game had going for it. All in all happy Slvsh is back and posting new games, thanks for something fun to watch!

Now cut the nonsense and get Slvsh Cup Trollhaugen to happen. Midwest level of riding would murk

Not sure why you guys would need them to get it started, organize one yourself

Anyone else catch Siver say he wouldn't be coming back at the end of his game? Anyone know why he was so bummed?

Heard this as well and I honestly couldn't tell if he was joking.

On another note, Quinn's sw 7 lead liu kang and his branny were so proper. Bummed he didn't come away with the W but I have to give it to Vinny for playing on his unique advantages!

Quinn is definitely the type to be hyped on fucking sending it over landing screamin'. I wouldn't be surprised if Quinn just sort of new what he was in for going into that game after having watched Vinny ski that park all week long.

I'm just going to pretend that Quinn vs Hunter was the heavy final game I was hoping for.

With everybody hating on Vinny... there’s cash on the line here. If he can do a bunch of grabs that nobody else can do and he takes advantage of that to win then that’s the competitors’ problem. Kinda like when bellemare cleaned up at slvsh cup perisher a few years back because he had far the most tech on the rails (4p4 on a down rail from memory) and just rinsed that. I agree in a normal slvsh game it’s just for fun so winning by calling weird tricks is a bit pointless but if there’s cash to be gained in the cups then for sure play to your strengths

I feel like Vinni's switch 50 wasnt clean enough and on the other hand Quans last defense was alright. Anyway, thanks to SLVSH for making this happen, was fun to watch!

Not saying I wouldnt do the same if I could but this comment made me realize that Vinni is actually just a SLVSH comp jock....

Bring back slvsh to Perisher with all the comp jocks. That was slvsh in its absolute prime imo

Agreed, that game between russ henshaw and evan I think was just all time. Front 5 swap over the massive rainbow was fucked

My take on this is that vinni just didn't have great sportsmanship about the game. Quan could have called seatbelts and doubles the whole game and took the w, but he didn't because he wanted it to be fair. Vinni just did sw7s and 3s and hoped his grabs would be enough. I think it might've been ok if they're well known but he invented half of these tricks. Also ref should've counted quans last trick of he counted vinnis 5050.

I like vinni and all but man didn't play too clean.

When playing games ahall could do seatbelt blunts, cork 1s and doubles on his unsuspecting victims but man doesn't, he keeps it fun.

jesus hammer on the nail. Vinny commentry mid run when he lands something or dosen't is also annoying. generally I'm not a huge fan of his style or trick selection r/unpopularopinion

call his own grabs wasnt a cool thing to do

still he shredded, but def should have only done established tricks

Disagree.

First, let's not forget he's taken gold + silver in xgames big air. He likely has more doubles under his belt than Quinn.

Vinny could have been calling weird grabs with tricks well over 7 or far more difficult than switch cork 7, but he kept the tricks themselves fairly mellow and doable. Most of those guys can do 3's and 7's in their sleep. What's wrong with adding some variation to them? Would you say it's bad sportsmanship to be spamming crazy bios and d-spins and spins that, regardless of the grab, pretty much no one else has done?

If Quinn invented tricks you think it would be a dick move for him to call them? He's done weird hands in pockets tricks before in slvsh games.

Quinn just didn't get to set much since he lost RPS and fell on his own tricks.

actually this being said, if you knew you were up against him you could have at least had a google and seen what types of grabs he usually throws

i guess its just not fun to see someone get beat out by weird stuff, even though it is entirely preventable

edit: hopefully other people catch on to the new shit and its no longer "weird"

It's funny how everyone's super salty when someone is being creative and making up their own tricks and using them in a competition.

No one was complaining when Henrik was winning events with nose butter dubs/trips, even though no one else could do them. Should he have stuck to regular dubs/trips in those big air events since it was unfair to the competitors that he was doing tricks he had come up with that no one else could do?

And some of them are super sick too. Like the nose + tail. I would love to see that in a massive flatspin or something. How cool would that be.

I imagine some of them will catch on and people will start doing them, like his brothers octo grab caught on.

Yeah I mean I wasn’t remotely impressed with the game, I like vinnis tricks but definitely just didn’t think there was much else to do, that park was a POS for a nicely stacked slvsh cup, better shit was tossed at the Ruka cup imo. I’m mainly bummed over Quans attitude, like ahall vs alexski, remember it’s slvsh you’re playing other skiers who don’t ski like you, and you’re not gonna be in the finals with your idol you can mirror every trick with like playing henrik every game.

Hilarious that kids are mad at Vinny and not Quan about this game. Quan lost on a 360 nose and tail grab, that is a fucking easy trick.

Quan skiied like shit and had mad baby attitude the whole time. How you gonna land tricks when youre sulking like a 5 year old?

Yeah, I still don't understand the hate. Like this wasn't even controversial at all I don't even see the point of discussing Vinny's grabs. You try to win based on doing shit the other guy will miss. How is that poor sportsmanship? He's supposed to go easy on him? Quinn was on offense a few times as well and could've done something. I do think defense needs more leniency in the reffing, but that's a different issue.

I’m surprised that nobody seems to know the true name of the nose and tail “funk” grab, aka ENGLISH MUFFIN. Coined by one of the Dadali’s I believe.

also lol at all the Quinn DHR’s. I’m not a huge Vinny fan but this was my favorite game he has been in. He made the funky grabs possible by throwing them with very reasonable spins.

I wonder if Andy was in a slvsh cup, would everyone be mad at him for doing his wizard tricks that he invents that no one else does? Unlikely..

wait I remember ahall winning in 2016 with a bunch of weird shifty taps that nobody else could do, kinda like what vinny did with grabs this year

As someone in the YouTube comments alluded to, the beauty of SLVSH is the game unfolds in an organic way sometimes not the way everyone expects, the format guarantees evolving variety depending on who is playing.

I fully expected that this game was going to be won with unusual grabs. It wasn't a great match but I don't think it's really Vinny's fault, Joss & Co knew that was his style and they invited him. Vinny skied like Vinny and won. I thought Quinn's style was on point this whole SLVSH cup so I kinda wish he'd won but that's how it goes sometimes. For the record, pole grabs shouldn't be a thing.

The toxicity out of some of you guys is insane. Honestly it gets me really heated and bummed out. Myself and the rest of the SLVSH crew have been working non stop over the last two months to give you all FREE content and entertainment. Finding resorts that will work with us and a schedule that works with all the athletes is harder than anyone realizes. I can't thank Sierra at Tahoe enough for believing in us and letting us close the park for most the week along with the athletes for coming to have a good time skiing against their friends.

For all of you guys hating on Vinny, I don't think you understand why we started slvsh. We set out with a goal to help skiers who don't ski like everyone else. Skiers who embody FREEskiing. Skiers who deserve recognition for being unique and skiing how they want to ski. Not how they feel they have to ski because of everyone else around them. I will keep inviting Vinny and other skiers like him because I believe they help keep the sport fresh and exciting. Slvsh is a head to head match up where you set the tricks and lines YOU want so that you can beat your opponent. Sometimes games go fast than others. I have rarely seen skiers set tricks knowing the other kid doesn't have a chance. These kids want to see their friends and opponents push the limits of their skiing and there is no better feeling than landing a trick you never thought you could possibly do without the pressure of a slvsh game.

Please just enjoy these games for what they are. We put blood sweat in tears into this for virtually no compensation just to help the sport of skiing grow and expand the fan base.

Sorry for the rant. We love criticism and its awesome to see the conversations that come up around these games. But when you guys just straight talk shit on the skiers and Slvsh even. Makes me question why we do this.

Side note. Thanks to everyone who filled out a bracket and followed along! We love our fan base and the stoke keeps us going.

Thank you for doing this and fuck the haters! Slvsh alone taught me like 80% of what I know about park skiing and I have non-skier friends who really got stoked on skiing because of your videos. You help push creativity and allow different types of skiers to 'compete' against each other, all while putting on good vibes. It's awesome to see a lot of tricks that people like me can do while also seeing insane shit go down that I would never imagine possible.

Thank you Joss. Well said. Anyone who is complaining is totally missing the point of Slvsh. Prime example in that last game: Vinny’s sw7 Octo. Quinn literally said he has never done one before, then goes and laces it perfect first try. How sick is that? That’s Slvsh. Pushing your fellow skiers to try new shit. I love it. Vinny is so sick, and such an positive dude. Bums me out when people are calling him unsportsmanlike for having fun.

After sleepin on it I disagree with what I said earlier. I just liked the rules in syrja vs immonen where they could only do one of their signature tricks. Just how I like games I guedd
